Had a similar thing with a trip to Dublin last summer. Wife surprised me with tickets for the game for my 40th but as we had a newborn we got a flight in the morning and came back the same evening. New policy came in at the Aviva a couple of days before our trip. I didn’t even know I was going until the night before. Travelled light. One rucksack between the pair of us. Got stopped and told to empty the contents into our pockets and throw the empty rucksack into the bin which was already filled with rucksacks. Tried to explain that we were daytrippers and almost persuaded one sensible steward before her supervisor overruled her. Sat with overfilled pockets throughout the game. Bit of a shambles really. As was the game.

The good news is you will still be allowed to spend £500 in the Wembley Merchandise Store and they will put the items into a clear bag for you to take into the Stadium

Thank goodness for that, I was worried for a moment

Yes. I spotted that as well. No surprise there. . I’m sure that if Wembley owned the designer outlet next door to the stadium, this policy wouldn’t be brought in.

So...

What do they do with all the bags they confiscate?

Sell them to add to the transfer budget.

I'm sold.

So is the clear bag you get from the shop smaller than a sheet of A4? From which direction? I mean, could I take in a long but very thin and not very broad bag, could we measure it from one end? What if I bring my own clear plastic bag from home? If the store bought one is bigger than A4 can my home bought bag be bigger?

I'm not even going, I just like picking at the massive holes in this scheme. Not even touched on those taking kids to a game or day trippers like Dougal.

Talk about ways to drive away casual fans too - no chance of walk-ins if that's going to be the plan.

That's long since dead isn't it? You can't get hold of tickets without having registered with the club up to 3 months beforehand...

It's utterly ridiculous, and all so they can cut costs through having fewer security staff.

Don't they realise how many people travel straight from work to evening games, and need to have things on them, including laptops etc.?

I thought that's only for certain games where they suspect there'll be a lot of visiting fans trying to buy tickets in the home end and/or where they're expecting trouble. I don't think that applies to every single game.

They do, they don't care. They will make people queue up to place them into a locker no doubt, for a high cost.

I haven't seen any mention of lockers being available. I know they have them at the London Stadium as when I went there to see the Rolling Stones, they had the same policy and people had to pay £5 or £6 to use them. They were a five minute walk away too, which caused more problems. I would have thought Wembley and NWHL must have something similar......surely?

Buy a spurs bag from the shop (which will no doubt be placed into a clear plastic bag) , fill the purchased bag with whatever you want then put it back in the plastic spurs bag - hey presto.

Dont buy a new bag for each game but just take the original bag with the original plastic bag

I aint just a handsome face you know - I should sell this stuff

Buy a big, clear plastic bag and put your rucksack/bag inside. Then, once you're in, transfer the clear bag into the rucksack/bag.
My pleasure.
