Wembley pubs closing an hour pre-match

I was chatting to some random in JJ Moons last night about the team selection just after it was announced and was dimly aware of a mass exodus from the pub at around the same time. It was only when I went to the bar at about 7:00pm that I learned that the exodus had been caused by the boozer shutting for an hour "so that people could get to the game on time".

What was that all about? And did other pubs in Wembley do the same thing?

The trust saying it's a mixture of UEFA and local licensing regulations to stop pubs serving alcohol an hour before KO.

Think it may be midweek games only. Not 100% sure though

They probably only do it so you have to but beer inside the stadium instead

Any suggestions for a boozer for the weekend close to the stadium?
There are about 30 of us heading over this weekend for the Swansea match.
I take it the likes of SSE Arena are still selling drinks?

Ye they've always done it.
I've been to the last 8 matches at Wembley and never noticed that before. I can't believe I have always left the pub with more than an hour to go before KO.

EDIT: It is always conceivable that I have not tried to order a drink with less than an hour to go previously, but that's the first time I have been aware of a mass exodus. Perhaps dementia is really setting in.

Which you can't do for CL/EL as there's a stadium alcohol ban for those games.
No, you can buy alcohol both pre game and at half time.

The only problem with half time lager is that they chill it by way of liquid nitrogen so it is very difficult to down it quickly and get back to your seat.
