I was watching tennis once, I forgot is it the birtish open or US open... but they ask this question... Why not just close the roof so there won't be a rain delay, and they won't have to stop the match to close the roof...

I remember the reply... This is an outdoor event. so as far as possible, everything should be out doors.

Personally I enjoy the unpredictibility of the weather. One of the fees thing that no one can control. now a days there is VAR, post match accountability. And also artificial grass mixed with real stuff. So much the team can control... Juz have a sudden down pour makes the game exciting.

Then again.... What do I know about the weather. It's summer all year long here. Lol!

That would be Wimbledon, and they stick to this rule as strictly as possible.

Watching under the roof on Centre Court is an experience like no other. Atmosphere is amazing.

You guys. I dunno, little bit of rain, few drips.

I've watched many a game, and to say the rain was torrential would be a massive understatement.

In fact, so loud was the sound of the rain lashing down...I had to turn t.v volume up a couple of notches. Couldn't hear the commentary.

I'm pretty sure that it's also got something to do with the warmer air changing the weight of the ball which then alters the way it bounces and travels in the air...

Could be wrong, though.

I watched a world cup qualifier years ago in Barbados v T&T

About 30mins in it absolutely came down cats n dogs. All the players ran off and hid under the main stand roof for 10mins until it suddenly stopped. Worked perfectly

It's as if the rain was reading the thread and decided to stop when it realized the roof will not be closed

I was just cold. But that's the case most of the time. I would pay more for a heated seat. Levy make it happen.
