Now you have a relative few season ticket holders in the hundreds and then 18,000 on or around 25 or 35 points. I guess almost every away game will go to a ballot?

Yes, as was always the case. At old WHL, there were 22,000 season ticket holders and up to 3,000 away tickets available per game. Some of those automatically went to Platinum members. The remainder went to applicants based on ST holders having priority over members (which meant members were never successful), and then LP were taken into consideration.

As a new ST holder, you have no more chance of getting an away ticket than you did as a member. Well, that's not true - you can apply earlier than members, but the reality is that you have no chance for quite some time. Your only option is to get pally with ST holders who have a lot of LP who don't go to away games. Get them to apply on your behalf.

Has it ALWAYS been done this way? Have members upgrading to season tickets ALWAYS lost their points? I've never seen an announcement for it.

Yes, it's totally standard and has been for at least 11 years.
