Spurs join Sneijder chase
By Football Italia staff

Tottenham have joined the queue of
clubs
hoping to sign unsettled Inter midfielder Wesley Sneijder in January.
The Dutchman is expected to leave next month after refusing to sign a new contract lowering his €6m per season wages.
He has not played since September due to injury and this contract dispute.
Sneijder has already been heavily linked with January bids by Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City, Manchester United, Fenerbahce and Bayern Munich.
According to the latest reports, Tottenham are the latest
club
to consider a proposal for the 28-year-old former Real Madrid star.
Sneijder would bring creativity to a Spurs midfield that lost Rafael Van Der Vaartand Luka Modric over the summer.

The article says he is on €6m euros, which is £4.85mill or £95k a week:eek:

The journalist who wrote this story probably got his source from the crazy thread in Spurs chat asking IF we should sign him lol

We've got to be in for him surely, we have such a great reputation for paying players £95K+ a week - no brainer for Sneijder IMO.

Would be a fantastic signing but unfortunatley zero chance of it happening imo!

They dont have room for him but if the bit his wages is true, it gives me hope

Doesn't stop clubs like Chelsea or City buying all the players, so why should it stop Man United?! Either way i just cannot see it happening. WS will want to go to a club in the CL and winning trophies, let alone wages.

Isnt that what we pay Bale and Ade?

I thought they were both on £90k. No doubt Sneijder will want, and be able to get, £100k+ a week from City or Utd or Chelsea. and that's just if we're talking about wages as the issue why we won't sign him.

Agree but how much playing time would he get there Chelsea are stacked in that position that I wouldn't be surprised if they sold Piazon, City have Nasri, Silva and seem to be after Isco as well as Tevez, Balotelli and Aguerro playing in that position and they need a winger. Man Utd have rooney, Kagawa, RVP and Powell who can play there and they need a Deep CM and not another AM as they play with 2 up front atm so I cant see them shelling out for him

Talking about Piazon, what do people in Brazil think of him, I like him he is a tidy player from what I have seen

True, although i think Utd would accommodate him easily, surely having RvP at the club will help them too.

No-one in Brazil has much opinion of Piazon really, my brother in law is a Sao Paulo fan and follows them adamantly and knew little about him when he switched to Chelsea.

Yeah but City would offer big money and Sneijder will believe he is good enough to put the others on the bench. City's issue so far this season has been scoring, so I could see them looking at this, if anything to stop anyone else in the EPL getting him.

Had forgotten about Kagawa, so you could be right about Man United, though I know he was heavily linked there previously.

Either way, he won't go to Spurs, even wages aside, he will want Title aspiring teams, not those on the cusp of CL qualification. It's a nice thought, but there is no way this has any legs.

According to papers City are trying to sign Isco:mad: and they need a winger

Latest bit of ITK is interesting, but without any clarification on how we could possibly afford him I'm trying not to get my hopes up...

But it would be bloody amazing if we got him! No doubt he will have heard lots of good things from Rafa too.

My point exactly.

Isco is hot talent and like Chelsea and Oscar and Marin, these clubs want the best players, sometimes just to make sure they don't play for rivals. That's not to say they don't get players in who they expect to play, but they offer them stupid wages just to play the odd game of football. Of course they promise them lots of game time to make sure players and agents don't hold that against them and egos do the rest.

That is the issue and that is why we cannot compete for players like Oscar as soon as a big club decides to make a move.
