What a waste. I know that's kind of a snobbish thing to say in a way, and I understand the financial aspect of it, but it's such a shame when these world class players effectively take themselves off the grid. We'll hear very little of Sneijder from now. Anybody remember Samuel Eto'o?

Maybe he's really into Kebabs. I can't think of another reason why he'd go there.

Well to be fair I don't think it's that much of a money grabbing move...I mean sure the money definitely played a part, but you guys are vastly underrating Galatasaray and the Turkish league as a whole...

Galatasaray are definitely one of the more prestigious/storied names in football.
They are consistently in the Champions League and look pretty good value to get past the first knockout round this year.
They partake in maybe the greatest/most intense derby in world football and also have a second derby vs Besiktas that is extremely heated.
Well backed club that can pay for the wages he thinks he deserves, top fans.
They are quietly building a really strong squad, one or two players away from being a real force in Europe.
Istanbul is an amazing city.

Well I'd rather him bugger off to Turkey than compete in the EPL against us.

What an absolute waste of a talent.

Fuck him the greedy fuck pig.
Hopefully players might wake up to the fact that wages need to be brought under control, let these players waste their careers in weak leagues, shame but stuff like this needs to happen

Couldn't agree more. I think this is a very sad development.

You wonder. Many footballers come from relatively poor backgrounds; football corrupts them. What would Sneijder possibly need an extra 50-60k for a week. It's just utterly incomprehensible. He could of came to PL and in the peak of his career challenged himself properly. Shame.

Did anyone actually bid?

That is spot on. They have an attitude that because they grew up with nothing, all their friends and family had nothing they feel the chief goal of their career is to earn money and accumulate wealth rather than play the game.
