Too often we play with the hand break on, because of a combination of one too many water carriers between defense and central mid, and because of stodgy performances. With the new stadium, it might be time to refresh the squad a bit more than changing out 2 or 3. We could afford to shift a few on this evidence.

Indeed, it seems weird that we used to be notorious for starting very fast at home. There have many times this season where we've gotten to half time and I've thought fuck me that was a waste of a half, we've done next to nothing.

I know where you're coming from but huge change is not what we need. Stability going into the new stadium is. Upgrade the squad, yea, but there's no need to break the squad up by any means to "freshen things up". We are a good team, when we play well. The problem is when we don't play well or just 1 or 2 of our big played aren't on it, we struggle. It's those players we need to have strong back ups to.

How can kane not be fit he's payed 4 games and done lots of training. He even says he's fit

He might be fit but he's not sharp. His touch has deserted him although he was unlucky Foster was able to get his big fat head in the way in the first half

This is the first time where I feel we have a bit of the Arsenal and Arsene Wenger about us.

Approach to the final third looks good but in and around the peno area get found out. Team breaks and scores or team breaks gets set play and scores. CBs get bullied by a physical player. Our luxury player goes missing. The manager doesn’t make the changes to the tactics or with fresh subs. Lose 1-0 or draw 0-0.

Felt like I was watching Atleti v Arsenal again.

Disgusting since the Chelsea game. 15 players with an eye on the world cup. Fuck em

I'm not sure it is that until CL is secured, they'll want their CL bonuses. Just the cup loss was hard to take, some defeats really knock the stuffing out of teams.
If we had taken our chances (Lamella I'm looking at you) we would get away with it.
The fans are flat since the semi, it's the same for the players.
Victims of our own success in some ways. A few years ago CL qualification was everything now we are disappointed not to win a trophy & are sleepwalking our way towards the line.

It can be a bit of a problem with us but unless we make significant upgrades during the summer what else can we do.

Agree that this can happen - it does at the same time however emphasize our need for more guile, pace and variety in our attacking play. Something we have to try and address this upcoming transferwindow.
I thought we’d tried to address that with Moura in January but he’s not been given a chance...

And Pochettino was unable to counter those tactics, the fact that they’ve “been playing like that all season” makes his failure even worse? Moore’s tactics defeated Pochettino’s tactics. What is so hard to to understand about that?

Because there is a very limited amount of effect you can make to defeat bus parking tactics? That’s literally why crap teams do it, why you get cup upsets, why very few PL games are straightforward, and why West Brom are unbeaten in 5 having beaten apparently bigger and better clubs than us on the process?

I don't think it's the squad that's the issue. It's Poch's in-game methods. Late subs, or not recognizing when a player needs to be taken off. With Son and Lucas on earlier today, we might have scored.

And probably Chelsea too if we take the blinkers of the win off. They should have buried us and had chances at 1-2. This run goes back to the Juve game.

I think it goes back to the fa cup final in 91 when we won it. We have done nothing since other than build our profit and loss account.

Pathetic. Saving the best till last I see! Chelsea have every chance of doing us to fourth at this rate.

Football is rarely about one team. West Brom are probably the form team to n this league (bar City) right now, have just won at Utd and spent the whole game sat deep. And we spent the whole game doing exactly what a team should do in those circumstances, pushed the ball about, tried to pull them out, and we did get Kane clean through and Lamela. And bar a couple of set pieces, we didn’t allow them a single sniff.

If a team sits in a deep block and does it well it’s incredibly difficult to creat chances, you can’t get behind them, you cant hit them on the counter and overload.

I think players like Kane, Lamela and Alli were a bit individually below par, but I don’t think we lacked effort, desire and by and large tried to do the right things and were tactically applied well enough in the circumstances.

Sometimes football just fucks you, and today, it did.
Well, it is a very good thing for us that Benitez and Puel are renown for their open and expansive footballing philosophies. Otherwise we could be in for some headaches in the next 2 must win matches.

fucking hell. that was bullshit. the team should be ashamed. west brom wasnt even good today.

Not true. They were very disciplined and their defence, especially Hegazi, was rock solid.
No need to take anything away from West Brom just because we're disappointed with our perfomance.

You are correct. The problem is, is that it is a 'tactic' that Poch still doesn't have an answer to!!!

Does anyone except City?

Even Liverpool who are apparently the best attacking side in the universe at the moment have been held to a huge amount of draws this season.

Joke of a performance today, and its been coming - we have been poor since Chelsea away.
We were very lucky on Monday night and if Chelsea win tomorrow, we are bang in trouble as I don't see us getting 6 from the next 2 given our current form.

Finish 5th and some serious questions need to be asked as this happens too often to us, it cant just be bad luck
