Glad I wasn’t watching that! Result all that matters in a game like this, but performances have to improve if we are going to do anything this season.

There’s only so long a team can play poorly and get results. At least we are getting injured players back.

Despite what a lot of fans think of him we miss Alli quite badly imo.

The last 20 was frightening for me.

Just logged on to express my love for Eric Lamela. Missed the game as I was doing my daughters birthday party but to arrive home wrecked knowing we won (and MOTD + a few cans of Guinness are waiting for later) is such a nice feeling.

Cheers Eric...

Living in the US on days like this is great - great cure for the hangover and there's still the whole day left to enjoy!

Reo Coker was co-commentating on radio 5 this afternoon and in his summing up he described it as a professional performance by Spurs, when West Ham got up a head of steam the Spurs midfield took control of the ball and controlled the pace of the game, Spurs didn't go gung ho for another goal but made sure of the win.
Now I didn't see the game nor hear more than ten minutes of it but that sounds like quite a good write up to me.

Clearly not the most attractive football we have played, but on seeing the first team I think a hard fought narrow win was the best we could have hoped for, and it his respect we duly delivered. The Spammers were always going to give it their all for this one and in that respect it came as no surprise that that they upped their game in the second half and were clearly going to get the crowd fired up. It turned out to be the most appropriate selections for this match and I thought we stood up to them well physically. Whilst like many I was not enamoured to see Sissoko's name on the first team sheet, he did what he had to do well and didn't do much wrong, and he provided the assist for the goal so credit where it is due.

I had my concerns at the time when Poch brought on Dembele for Lamela in the last quarter of the game as I felt it was going to invite more pressure and remove a threat we had on the counter, in the way it did in the Watford game away, and I would have picked Son who would have been a better outlet and would have made them think twice about throwing complete caution to the wind. It's hard to argue now and Poh was vindicated as we saw the game out and took a valuable 3 points and took advantage of Chelsea and Man Utd's draw. We clearly have to manage our options and squad as we have a heavy schedule over the next two weeks and in this respect, whilst we didn't sparkle as a team although Hugo made three excellent saves, the first being really stand out , and no one let us down and we can be encouraged that some of our injured players that are key to us upping our game are on their way back. We have wanted to win ugly for years when we aren't at our best and now we have been making a habit of it so on that front I have no complaints.

It was near the 65 - 70 min marker, definitely not close up shop time IMO.
Not to close up shop I agree, but to allow us some time to regather. There are ebbs and flows in the game, and we haven't managed our ebbs well in the past. You have to be on your game when the tide turns.

Today's performance is what we should have done against Juve after they scored at Wembley. I think this is a sign that poch is learning to be pragmatic when it matters. Whilst it was one of the ugliest Spurs wins I've ever watched, it was a win nonetheless. Nothing else matters.

Apart from Hugo and Lamela, no one really deserves mention - a positive one that is.

I have no worries about winning ugly which today's result was because you can't play well all the time and although we are 8 games in we are still to play well with any authority and yet are still in the mix, so yet again well done to the team and management tonight it was a good win against opposition who truly hate our guts.

We've won as many games at the Olympic Stadium as they have this season.
Nobes was right.
