Largely agree. The only thing I'll say is that this is one of the reasons why we needed another striker this season. Not only to cover for Kane in the event of injuries and fatigue, but as another option to counter the opposition when it's not going our way. We could have played two up and hit them with a more direct style etc and give their back 5 something to think about.

As effective as our "philosophy" and playing style has been, we don't have an alternative way of playing.

Not sure playing 2 up top would have helped that much especially when we struggled to get hold of the ball in midfield! I think there's always going to be instances where people will point out that we should have bought another striker in after a loss, I personally think it's another excuse and doesn't really highlight why we lost this match.

Having an alternate way of playing would be great to counter a physical threat but I think that's all a work in progress with this team I think, they're going to have to learn to deal with different opponents as they progress.

I really think this game was yet another example of Son not adding anything from the bench, I think if he is to play at all he has to start. I also think Chadli has made himself a sub now, starts vs watford and west ham both poor.

Nothing lost nothing gained.

Although there is never a great time to lose to West Ham yesterday was as close as you get.

If we had beaten them, the media would have gone into hyperbole and the game against Arsenal would have been seen as a procession and the changing of the guard. A pressure our young team would probably not be able to live with.

I hope we reproduce the reaction that we've had for every other league defeat and go on a run which I think we are capable of.

I was very disappointed last night after the match but on reflection I think we simply were beaten by the better team on the day which happens. Looking at the other results on the night, if we had to lose one game then this was the one to lose.

So vital we get a win on Saturday though, if we lose or draw that then we really are in trouble. I still believe we can do it, a win on Saturday and the belief will come back for everyone.

Can't stop thinking about that Kane miss. It was so poor and really highlighted how bang out of form he is.
You cant help but think that had he scored it, we'd have gone on to win that.

Despite the fact that he should have made it count and scored, to be fair to him, he was slightly hit on his foot by a West Ham defender - can't remember who it was - as he was about to shoot, the impact by the defender on Harry's foot, forced him to mishit the ball.
Having said that, I agree completely that it seems that Harry has lost his way a bit now. That is really bad for us, we need all the players to be in the best possible form now. It is crucial that we keep up our positivity, assertiveness, concentration, focus and most of all our form and fitness levels.
We had a brilliant season so far, let us make sure we bear the fruit of the hard work.

After needing penalties to beat the third best team in Malta.

AND.....they were lucky to have got to penalties stage. The Birkirkara team from Malta, which is only a part-time amateur club, should have won the tie, they pinned West Ham back inside their defensive area for much of the game !

Poch blaming the pitch. That is a very poor excuse because it's the same for both teams. If we lose to Ars I'm afraid it will be the start of a poor run.

Except the part were it isn't the same as one side play on it week in week out and one does not maybe ?

Here's a comment of breathtaking stupidity that I read this morning about Pochettino.

"Maybe this is as far as he can take them?"

You'd be forgiven for thinking it was made in this thread, if I didn't know better i'd think it myself, but no, this gem appeared in todays 'Sun". The print edition had the authors name attached but I can't remember it and couldn't see it online. If this is what passes for journalistic opinion then all I can say is the next time they have a vacancy they should pop down to the zoo and see if they have a baboon or something that fancies the gig. You know, one of them fuckers with the great big red arseholes. My money is on him being better at it than the drooling idiot whose name is stuck to this.

I can't read the red tops anymore. They're just utter bollocks.
The front pages leave me lost for words sometimes.

Bilic said today it was West Ham's best performance of the season

It was probably our worst

Let them have their Cup Final

It's the game they really do live for and they got a 1-0 result.

They still don't register as any sort of rival; just an idiot club.

Next.

I think we'll find out the answer to this over the next couple of months - starting Saturday.

I think we found that out over the last 28 games unless your time has been spent watching a side pay that no one knows on SC. If prior to WH we have taken 17 points from losing positions (a PL high) how is that choking?

Get over yourself.
