My nose is still reeling from last summer.

If Joorabchian wins his case, he will have proved that the Spammers lied repeatedly and extensively in order to keep Tevez playing for them. And it's entirely clear that Tevez had a huge part in keeping them up.

Therefore, if Joorabchian wins, the Spammers would have to be automatically relegated. It's the only appropriate sanction for such a case, and if it can happen to Juventus, it should happen to the Spammers.

I'm not holding my breath though....

The trouble is the FA/Premiership rarely make really contraversial or brave descisions. Besides, there is too much money sloshing about the football industry; ultimately money equals corruption.

West Ham being relegated would cause too much of a stir in the content lives of the status quo.

Just dug this up. The FA have ruled in Favour of Sheffield United! They could get more compensation, and are after £30M.

I reckon they will get another 5 mill at most.

Just re-read the article Real

The FA haven't ruled on anything; it was an independant tribunal

Not sure how this is going to play out, etc. Don't know how much authority this particular tribunal has?

The spammers should be docked points at the end of the season - enough points to send them down!

In terms of compensation, £5m is peanuts nowadays - even for a Championship club.

It's going to be hard to do justice in this case I reckon. It's going to drag for some more time.

Was just on the six o'clock news. Seems it's going to court with Sheffield united after £30mil.

Ultimately this just shows how massively incompetent the Premier League and the FA are. What this shows is that through their incompetence they relegated a team who didn't deserve to go down.

As much as I hate West Ham though I think any compensation should be paid by whoever fucked up with the decision. West Ham have been punished with their fine and although it was wrong it was acknowledged at that stage that they'd done something wrong.

The reason why Sheffield United were relegated wasn't becauseof West Ham's wrongdoing, but more due to the Premier League's incompetence...so it's the latter who should be punished.

I came into this thread to post exactly the same sentiments. You are spot on.

I fucking hate west ham and they should have been relegated, but the reason they weren't was because the FA completely fucked it up.

It should clearly be the FA who are sued (again, as much as I would love it to be West Ham).

Isn't Tevez only on loan at Man Utd from the bloke who owns him? I don't remember West Ham ever coughing up the £30-odd million asking price for his outright ownership, and neither have Man Utd yet... So aren't they still breaking the same rule West Ham broke in the first place?

Ditto Liverpool with Mascherano up until they bought him outright...

Didn't Man U pay up over £30million for Tevez over the summer?

I think they broke the British transfer record twice over the summer: first for Tevez and then for Berbatov.

As far as I recall they only said they'd pay £32m for him, if there was a proper transaction then they kept it bloody quiet...

At the time of Mascherano's transfer to Liverpool and Tevez to Man Utd (both initially loans, subsequently Mascherano's was made permanent and Tevez remains on loan), the FA/Premier League did not have rules against third party ownership and therefore as Liverpool and Man Utd fully disclosed all this information to the FA/Premier League they have not broken any rules. The FA/Premier League have latterly banned all third party ownership transfers.

West Ham's Terence Brown's parting gift was to not disclose the nature of the two transfers to West Ham and therefore West Ham were in breach of the FA/Premier League's rules.

For me the FA/Premier League were caught in horrible situation knowing full well any points deduction would relegate West Ham and lead to significant and costly appeals for which they simply do not have the resources to fight unlike Premiership clubs. They were hoping that Man Utd would do their dirty work and relegate West Ham at Old Trafford all the aggreived teams stay up and the whole sorry saga goes away.

The FA/Premier League are a naturally cautious body and know full well that their rullings are subject to costly legal appeals and as we found out in our game against West Ham when they refused to give clarification on wheter they would dock Spurs points for failing to field a team they forced Jol and Levy to make the decison for them when they took to the field.

Its not right but given the significant legal expenses that the FA/Premier League could be exposed to they have no option but to take the cautious way out and the duck the hard decisions. If a colective insurance pool was set aside from TV revenue for the FA/Premier League's legal expenses in any potential defence of their rulings it would give them a bit more teeth and fit to govern the game in the 21st century.

That's even better then, since when you go to Tribunal you agree to abide by it's outcome! Sweet! Let hope they get fucked over by the full 30Mill.

Still should have been a points deduction though.

Disappointing.

West Ham have appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), which is the final arbiter on sporting matters.

They'll probably fudge it offering Sheffield United £3m or something.

Hearing and reading the Waldorf and Statler of the journalistic world Martin Samuel (Times and Sun) and Mick Dennis (Express) whinging and bellyaching in their columns and Mick Dennis on Sky Sports News about their team is laughable.

Both have compared West Ham's deceit and breach of the rules to that of Watford sueing the linesman for his, albeit appaling, decision last week.

A baseless arguement.
