We’re only 5 players off mounting a serious title challenge, trouble being, we’ve been about 5 players short for the last 3/4 seasons.

We need to stop with this obsession for free transfers, loan signings and players soon to be out of contract. That should never be a key component of any club's transfer strategy.

We are regularly in the top 10 of the Deloitte Football Money League yet usually seem to be shopping in the bargain basement, bar maybe one or two signings for decent money every year.

What we really need is a quality GK and 2 CBs, plus James Maddison and we are back in the game again. That's assuming we keep Harry obviously. Or spend any money we get for him on Victor Osimhem. Sadly, it's also looking like it may be time to start considering replacing Sonny. His drop in form this season has been alarming.

But all these improvements will need to be made over one or two transfer windows rather than 5 or 6. We can't wait that long or it will be time to start all over again.

I'm sure that considering our links with AIA and South Korea, there must be some Asian investors somewhere willing to stump up a few quid for Danny and Joe.
