How can we take the league any more seriously?

We must believe that we can achieve things and we will, I am going to put this on MP players must realize playing Juventus in the CL is just as important as playing Westham in the Carabao Cup and win the game anything less is a bad result, I don't believe the players feel that they must win and hold all cups in high regard, it really did me in when MP said that he takes the FA Cup serious but the League and the CL are priorities.

I am from the old school, everything is a Priority and MP gave his players a pass in my eyes in saying what he said, Why would you wanna go all out for a lesser Cup you save your best for The the League or CL

Where are you getting these figures from?

If we could get Zaha for around £30m, the same as we spent on Sissoko, I'd bite their hands off. We'd really need to stump up £40m to £50m imo to have a chance, especially as he signed that new contract. Unless he's got a buyout clause our team are privy to.

Was, but he isn't any more, even if he was a hit, we'd still have to replace him sooner or later.

We'll have to replace everyone sooner or later. As for whether he was, or was not, bought purely as a striker or also for his great experience for others to learn off, I'll bow to your greater knowledge!

Dembele from Celtic
Richarlason or Zaha
Sessignon from Fulham
Ross Barkley
Johnny Evans

That would seriously strengthen our squad and would add some pace

We'd be able to rotate much more and our bench would be able to make a real difference to the course of a game

Adding that type of strength and numbers to the squad would give Poch some great options and enable him to keep the starting XI fresh

City are on another level atm so the league and CL is a tough ask

This team and manager needs A Trophy, any trophy to start with. The first is the toughest. After that, who knows what we can achieve

So I reckon 5 quality signings. We might add 2 even possibly 3 but unlikely

Will still leave us a little short of the strongest squads we are currently punching above our weight against

How much are you thinking that lot will cost?

Less than the 300million Jose said he needed!!

Maybe 100-150m dependant on how long they have left on their contracts
I imagine Palace will hold out for a shed load for Wilfred

Lloris
Aurier Alderweireld Vertonghen Rose
Wanyama Winks
Eriksen Dele
Son Kane

Vorm
KWP Sanchez Foyth Davies
Dier Dembele
Lamela Barkley Sessegnon
Richarlison
Skipp, TOB, Edwards, Shashoua, Sterling
Not a big fan of Barkley but I can see he'd improve options. I honestly don't think there's a guaranteed useful striker who'd be happy being backup to Kane so I'd think outside the box and coach Richarlison into being able to play at 9 as well as LWF, he has all the attributes to be able to. I'd forget about wasting Sessegnons time as a back up left back and put him straight in at where he's gonna end up at, and where he'll get more game time.

Gives us two for every position, ability to play different formations. Trust needs to be put in Foyth and a decision required on Dembele though. Any signings beyond those 3 who will replace Sissoko, Llorente and GKN, would mean there's no route for youth players but also mean certain players would get barely any game time thus be a waste of time.

It's the best we can hope for but it gives us the best shot we can give. I honestly don't think there's anyone we could get who'd improve 10 of our first 11, with only exception being Winks but I want to see him given chance to make the spot his own. Beyond that we'd have cover for Eriksen (Lamela), Dele (Barkley), Son (Richarlison or Sessegnon) and Kane (Richarlison). Dier and Wanyama rotate in DM and Dembele or Barkley covers Winks. CB if a 3 or 4 we've got 3 top class CBs to choose from with Foyth given a shot as 4th choice and Dier in emergencies.
Signings mostly funded by selling Sissoko, Trippier, GKN and Llorente.

Pace, guile and intelligence in the final third.

Plus

A central midfielder who can pass and control the tempo.

Basically what we've needed for the last few seasons.

In my opinion, what we need other then general depth, is a midfielder who can run with the ball at his feet and link the defense with the forward four with incisive passes. What we need is a 23 year old version of Luke Modric whoever that guy is.

Personally, I think there is a lot of proven value out there on the market that would add quality depth to our side.

I think we all know that we lack the financial power to have international stars in pairs like City or Man United (Man U less so), but I think there is plenty of quality out there that can help us shore up some of our most glaring issues, which for me is depth. With a fully fit squad, I do think our inform 11 can be quite deadly and hard to beat as proven in years past and this year with brilliant displays against Pool, Real, and Dortmund.

But where we are struggling year in and year out is keeping that form for a whole year and for me it comes down to a lack of quality rotation players in areas of need.

Back Line - Think we are really solid here. May need one young CB if Toby leaves, but Juan, Sanchez, Dier, and the Amazing Verts are all more than capable of playing in the league. If Toby is gone than a young talent is needed.

Defensive Minded Mids - Wanyama is a beast and we clearly miss his cover. I for one do not think Dier is a long term rotational player in this position. I just don't like his lack of footwork when against the heavy pressing sides. I would immediately go for Charles Aranguiz. He would be a cheap option and is a beast of a player. I also don't think he would be mad about competing in a CL squad with the likes of Wanyama.

Box-to-box Mids - I am a Winks believer. He needs to play in a more free role versus this shield role he has been forced into the past couple of games. He is not Sergio Basquets, he is more of the Xavi/Iniesta type. We all know I am not going to that extreme, but they are good positional comparisons. He has been forced to play the Basquets pivot role in a couple games and has been struggling to influence in the manner he is capable of. I do think with the agining Moose looking like he may be moving on after this year or two, that this is the area of greatest need. I would spend the majority of our money on a Saul type player. I am really hoping Josh can find the mental part of the game because he has every tool at his disposal to be a real class player. I also see Alli having the ability to make an impact in this role.

AM (Christian Type) - Christian is not a barca player IMO. He is in the perfect situation with the way he performs and would be eaten alive with the major dips of form he goes through. With Lamela back in the fold, I hope Poch sees that Lamela is just, if not more creative in the hole than Eriksen. As another option, I am really hoping we can see some of our youth make an impact. The clips of Edwards in the hole are buttery, but I know the physicality argument may keep him out. I honestly wouldn't drop top coin here, but if we don't see the youth providing any help soon, I wouldn't mind a Malcom type (who we have been linked with).

Wide AM - Where our second greatest need is. Son and then Alli are our options. Lamela plays here a bit, but I honestly want him centrally for the most part. I know we float around quite a bit, but I want him to be central for the majority. I love the look of Richarlison. I really think he has all the tools to become a class player. I would stay away from Zaha. I don't know too much about the targets out there, but we do need help.

Backup to Kane - May be the hardest position to fill and Fernando types may be the best option at this point. No one is coming in and unseating Kane. So we better hope to find a young player that is willing to learn or an older player that doesn't mind the seldom appearance. But I do think we need to address the type of backup we have. No more big bodies. We need more of a Kane type of player. Someone that can run the channels, get involved and really torment sides. I would love to go for Shinji Okazaki.

At some point, he has to decide which competitions he will field his best team in and which he is going to rotate players. The object is always to have the players play to win I think, when rotation is needed he will play his best teams in the PL and CL while using the other cups for some rotation. It does not matter that he says it because it is obvious by his starting lineups.

Have you seen how many chances Richarlison fluffs?! May as well just have Son as back up striker again.

I’m sure there’s better value out there than Zaha. Imo he is now £50m although I like him that price tag would make me nervous especially for a player that fundamentally is a bench option. Just can’t see him displacing dele eriksen Son. There seem to be so many if these tricky wingers abroad lemar Malcolm Neres surely we can pick up one of these there seem plenty floating about.
