What does a North London derby mean to todays players?

For those players that have come through the ranks, not that we have that many, it probably is their biggest game as the tradition of this game has been drummed into them as they have risen through the youth/reserve ranks.

It probably means less to the others, a fact that is reflected in some attitudes shown on TV in the tunnel before various live games. All smiles , handshakes and in some cases hugs as old friendships are renewed. This is not what we the Spurs fans want to see.

How i long for the days of our 80's Centre backs Graham Roberts and Paul Miller who by all accounts let opposition forwards know exactly what they were about to do to them on the pitch if they were to see them in the tunnel, especially in a North London derby.

I think Defoe tweeting a photo of him with sol Campbell and Henry just today sums it up for the players mentality today. It's a big game for them yeah, but probably in much the same vein as the city game or against united

I will say that it won't mean as much to any player as it does to the fans. As much as I hate Chelscum and all that their racist club stands for, this game - THIS GAME - is the one that I want us to win more than any other.

spurs need to use this game as a platform. a platform to show that not only are they the best team in north london, but, they are better than the media, and some spurs fans, are giving them credit for. with a year in transition and many players out due to injury this game would be perfect to bring back the team spirit

It would be good to steamroller them into the ground, and then reverse back over them just to make sure. Nothing lrss will do to make me feel even half decent after the last couple of games..
