....to warrant keeping the job?

Just want to see what people would want to see Sherwood achieve this season to justify giving him another season. What do people expect of him and what do people expect of a manager of Spurs?

Is 4th a minimum requirement?
Is a top 6 finish with good performances good enough?
Do you want to see him gone no matter what?

Personally, the minimum I would accept is 6th with very, very positive performances, where 6th is only 2/3 points off 4th.

Bear in mind, we were only 5 points off 4th when AVB left, but performances were a bit abject; we're now 2 points off 4th and we've performed a bit better.

Just interested to see where the line in the sand lies for people.

As an aside, if we finished 6th, just a couple of points off 4th, my first choice would be Laudrup, but I would settle for Sherwood if we couldn't get him.

4th, tough ask but I still think if we can get Van Gaal/De Boer in the summer we should snap them up.

4th would go some way to keeping his job though. Don't think Levy would be able to get someone new if we got Champs League, and rightly so.

  1. Get top four
  2. Get the best out of our new signings
  3. Make sure we play attacking but solid defensive football
  4. Stop doing interviews

Is that too much to ask?

Not at all, it seems to be the yardstick that every other fucker is measured by :D

Oh and i'd add

5: Explain every decision, substitution and team selection here on SC.

Yeah, that would be cool.

I'd be seriously impressed if he can pull off finishing top 4, if he did then I'd be amazed to see the job go elsewhere before the start of next season. You'd have to say he'd deserve the job for at least 1 more season if he can achieve that.

In reality I doubt we'd get top 4 so personally I'd prefer to see us finish 6th and avoid Europa League, assuming 6th place doesn't pick up an EL spot of course. Whilst it's a decent competition and we can potentially play youngsters in it, I'd rather avoid it and focus on domestic cups and the league next season.

If I had to guess then it's pretty fair to say that City, Arse and Chelsea will be top 4. I think Man Utd will struggle to recover so that leaves Liverpool, Us and I guess Everton to battle for 4th although I think Everton will fall away as the season goes on.

- Show that his sound-bites in the media aren't just useless rhetoric to appease the media and fans alike.

- Demonstrate the ability to learn from mistakes, a la playing the formation we did against Arsenal.

- Use the youth in a calculated manner and not in games which aren't suitable i.e Bentaleb vs Arsenal.

- Show some tactical flexibility and nous.

- Presuming he stays for the duration of his contract, secure at least top 4 next season.

I'd like him gone in the summer no matter what. If he achieves anything this year, it'll be by pure fluke, and because Man U are having a temporary mare.
I really do think if we can get the FSW, he will take us to the next level. I really can't see Tim taking us there.
