To be fair, it seems that only a couple of them think they could get him for 150m, the rest think he will stay at Spurs with a few thinking he will be go abroad.

Just had to laugh with the comment not believing we would take the "potential of Kane over the current Rooney"

Rooney was an excellent player we seem to forget that but obviously he is a shadow of his former self at the moment, maybe a change will bring back his qualities I don't know. I agree though current Rooney or current Kane... Only one winner really

That's a good question. Obviously we would say Kane whereas Manure would say Rooney.

Kanes a better goalscorer but Rooney I think was a better all round player although Kane will reach that given the improvement we have seen in his game,

I always thought Rooney's all round game was massively overhyped, based on potential and what people thought he was CAPABLE of rather than anything he ever actually DID. I think his failure in adopting the deeper midfield role successfully kinda backs this up.

Never seemed as good once Ronaldo went to Madrid although he wasn't bad, just not as good as Kane.

Kane is on a different level to Rooney.

I had to look up Rooneys stats but his goals scored record isn't that great when compared to Kane. He got a few more assists in some seasons with the highest being 13.

I think it would be Kane all the way if choosing between them.

Rooney will be looked at as a legend a few years after he retires. Manchester United and England's record scorer, a cabinet full of trophies, he's done it all.

His body just burned out because he played constantly from 17 onwards and he didn't have the self-discipline to live like a monk, like a Ronaldo or Zlatan. You look at Zlatan - he's absolutely shredded at 36 - doesn't drink and probably only eats fish and steamed veg. That's what it takes to stay sharp.

It's a shame, because at his peak Rooney was an absolute beast. It's a shame that he never quite did it for England at a major tournament too.

He tore us apart in the game in which Defoe scored an overhead kick in the first minute.

Oh, man I was there that day - he was unplayable. He kept pulling off to the left wing and Alan Hutton could not live with him. He was almost in tears by the end of the 90.

It was overhyped but think he was at a high level. Like I have said in my view Kane is fucking unreal and prolific but he does need to prove it in Europe etc. He will even say that himself.

Rooney is and was never a midfielder I agree.

His goal scoring figures aren't very good thou, he's only got the records he has due to playing for so many years...

Rooney in 15 seasons (played 25 or more games in every season) broke the 20 league goal mark twice o_O

Kane has scored over 20 league goals three seasons running.... :woot:

Kane is exceptional though, and he's the fulcrum of our attack. Whereas Rooney has always been someone who plays deeper and creates chances. He's usually had a main man alongside him, like Ronaldo or RVP.

Similar to Drogba. He wasn't that prolific as a goalscorer either - two monster seasons but the rest were around the 15 goal mark in all comps. But both Drogba and Rooney offered a lot more than goals.

Kane offers more than goals too. He is becoming a very complete striker but has the goalscoring prowess which barring injury will see him reach the heights in quicker fashion than those two did. For instance it took those two eight full seasons to get to 100 PL goals whereas Kane can get there in half that time next season.
