Kid yourselves that poch wants to get rid of him. The reason he was dropped at the end of last season was his head was turned by city. Poch loved Walker. He hasn't played trippier ahead of him till walkers head went. Fans always look for something that isn't there.

It doesn't seem to occur to anyone outside Spurs that we are selling Walker because we want to. Even a high proportion of SC members are acting as if we are being bullied or pressurised into selling against our will. I can't imagine where, except assumptions based on history, that is coming from.

Without a shred of hard evidence, only mood and tone of voice, it has nevertheless been plain to me for months that the club, or at least Pochettino, is at least as keen to see Walker leave as he is to beef up his bank account at Man City's expense.

@Gaz_Gammon was raining heavy hints to this effect a couple of months ago, but no one really picked up on any of it and he never provided any proper details.

So we don't know why, because the club doesn't leak the way it used to. So this side of the tale seems, for want of gossip, not to have shown up on anyone's radar. The narrative has been about "losing Walker", not about "getting rid of Walker".

Meh.

Difference is we aren't selling him because he isn't good enough.
We're selling our best right back because he and the boss have had a falling out.

Whatever way it's looked at, we're still losing one of our starting 11 to a rival

Money spent on Bale and Walker = ~£9m
Money made on Bale and Walker = ~£135m

While I can't stand the BSoDL, it's certainly returned in dividends.

I hate to say it but I wonder what we'll wind up making on Eriksen when that horrendous day may come. Would love to start a thread on how much money we've bought and sold players for over the past 10 seasons.

A falling out implies Poch is selling him because he made fun of his haircut or something.

The information we have from Trix and others is that Walker openly questioned Poch's methods, challenged him and overstepped the mark; accepted the advances of City's mid-season and has his head turned.

A bit different don't you think?

:wideyed: I must have missed that. Does he not know Poch is the going to go down in history as the best manager ever?

I never liked him. Even before I knew we were buying him I always thought he was a wrong 'un.

Either way it's still selling who was a key first 11 player to a rival. Walker suddenly isn't adebayor nor is he surplus based on ability

I totally agree, it hurts he is going to City. But we have to play to our strengths. We need the players to think about the collective over the individual. If Walker is acting like Jack the Lad and negatively impacting on our cohesiveness, then it's time to go.

Well, the talk very quickly turned to BSoDL so I thought I'd take me over to BlueMoon and see how things are with them about Walker.

And what I found was they can't agree on the colour of shite either :)

Leto quotes some of our fans (who think the fee is £50 million):

"Spurs fans think we got a good deal and I agree."

To which bluesina gives the interest little snippet that Citeh have their very own branch of the BSoDL:

"Seems Spurs fans have less of a love in with Levy that a few on here lol."

And Metalartin leads a rally from the anti-Levites:

"Are people seriously jumping to Levy's defence? Haha only on bluemoon. "Oi fackin lay orf Levy. He's a great guy he's just thrifty!" "

oakiecokie then gets into it with someone called bluedeadhead who thinks rather than getting a good deal they have paid over the odds:

"Who has mentioned we don`t have a budget. You`re the only person that keeps on rabbiting that by paying £15M over the odds it must have an impact on future transfers. You must seriously be deluded if you think that."

Then their very own [insert SC member who remembers quips by players from when they were three and uses as justification for irrational hatred of new player] alib pipes up:

"Don't like the bloke. He doesn't like City either"

bringbackswales explains the frothing at mouth rage:

"He once said something about City on twitter and later apologised for it, big fucking deal"

And KiLP 12 adds helpfully:

"Well he's signing for City. The rest is up-to you."

domalino, who seems to be a bit of a THFC ITK, then explains why we have been shafted and that the fee most definitely isn't £55 million:

"Literally no one is saying 55m + add ons that's complete bullshit.

They also don't prefer Trippier, that is also bullshit. Trippier by the way has played 1,000 minutes of league football in the last 2 seasons compared to Walker's 5,600, and most of that came after Walker told them he was leaving and they had a little spat. "Prefers Trippier" hilarious.

Trippier is as close to a Walker replacement as Ibe was a Sterling replacement, hence why Spurs have lined up 30m for Perreira so they never need to worry about how badly things would go relying on Trippier as first choice.
"

In a world of his own, apparently, mccity (hats off to the original name) hints, I think, at some strange kind of Citeh persecution complex (can't think of what else he could mean):

"Kyle Walker had better get used to being England's 3rd/4th choice right back in the coming months"

remember arthur mann then points out that it is a

"Crazy signing, another Alan Kernaghan moment !" [can't think, maybe poor old Alan Kernaghan was their Gregorz Radsiak moment).

From there the thread goes into overdrive. The general consensus seems to be that they don't care about the price, LoadsaMoney, they are just happy to finally have a full-back of any description after Guardiola rather bizarrely left them with none just to make their bargaining position harder to have strengthened one of their need-to positions with the player who has suddenly, post-fee, become the best in his position in the league (which he wasn't when we played them last year).

Will try to make time to go through the rest of the thread later, but it is rapidly stretching into the horizon.

We can discuss whatever we like, but offer up opinion as opinion, not as fact.

Just because you believe something is true, it doesn't make it so.

Couldn't give a toss about any of that. It's not up to you to tell people to pipe down or shush just because you don't agree with what they are saying.

A forum is a place for open debate, not somewhere that discussion and opinion is shut down simply because it doesn't match up to your own.

Round 2:

Bewr3theM00n (who at least has the virtue of an original name) thinks that Walker will

"Will reach his full potential under Pep" [so, he will add being able to cross and not making brain-farts to being able to run fast! Who knows he might even stop being smelly allegedly).

For some reason mdj0520 slips into hate crime - Milner-hate to be precise, but only from the now, not the then:

"This. Milner too. He's a twat now, but he played a big role in both title winning seasons."

its a barm wants to know

"Does he track back." - well, I'd hope so me ol' china, he's a full back, that's rather his job, don't you know :)

Pablo1 (who I thought might be our Pablo given the nature of the post, helpfully points out

"He's an improvement on our current RBs so that's a bonus.."

That seemed to discombobulate them temporarily until raghavk provides the answer they were all wracking their brains for

"We don't have any....oh wait"

tramazi sparks of the money debate again, just because he doesn't like it that

"I do care how much we spend, fucked off they held us to ransom. I can see we need Walker though, he just better prove himself and not be another lame purchase, especially if Trippier has a better season." (A Citeh fan who cares about how much financial doping oil money they spend, whodda thunk it).

Our good friend Pablo1 chirps in with another corker

"How do you know they held us to ransom?" (Er, it's Daniel Levy, you munter, and he was holding 51 of the cards and a set of thumb-screws. How do you think he approached it?).

BringBackSwales brings tings back to reality by observing

"Wise words rammy, not to mention scum paid A QUARTER OF A BILLION POUNDS for martial pogba and lukaku" (if in doubt, laugh at ManUre...mind you, a world record fee for their own youth player :) )

harvo the blue lays down the bottom dollar

"As normal lots of shite being talked on here about how much & is he good enough all bollocks, we slag City off for not signing anyone & when we sign arguably the best RB in the Prem it's not good enough.

It's a great signing and it's not your wallet it's coming from stop groaning & enjoy the next 7 days the recruitment is flowing.

A new keeper 3 new fullbacks & CB coming in & we are in business.

Fuck Levy & fuck the papers & fuck other fans just get behind City & Pep.

CTID
" (Whooda thunk it, even Citeh have fans who whinge and whine about not spending money less than two weeks into the TW...and they've even bought someone).

JPBB is sensible...sounds like a bit of a hippy to me...

"Its a great deal for everyone. City, Spurs, Walker. Everyone is happy."

It descends back into madness, though, when morleyswife (not the real thing, I hope) takes us off in a whole psychedelic direction:

"That's the way I see it. Great post. We Us City are very near dining with the big boys. How many times have I said (in my head), how much for x when Real Step in

To be the best you have to pay. I can have fillet steak which is fucking gorgeous.

if it's from a bull at the RSPA that has been twatted on a cattle train.

Yet Wagu beef is fucking massaged and eats grass that has been grown for them

The difference is minimal but percentages do matter
" (maybe @Mullers could decipher it for us).

Then it really kicks off thanks to a rather innocuous post by City_Sean

"How is it? He's one of the best RBs in the world." (Good God, someone escort BC away from the thread before things turn nasty).

At which point the thread begins speeding off to the horizon again. At one stage I got it down to three pages...it is now eight again. Someone else can take over, it's page 367 (top) of BlueMoon's Kyle Walker thread :)
