People are going on like Walker committed treason. Poch did actually play him. It was the money that we accepted that said it all.

Poor Eric must have Stockholm syndrome.

In all seriousness, the likening of football contracts to slavery is ridiculous. There's nothing to stop a player quitting, but the club will hold their registration for the remainder of the contract. United fans are a different breed, honestly.

The charitable side of me kinda thinks, bless, every forum has folk who just believe everything the media tells them. The less charitable side of me is laughing imagining this munter as Kevin Turvy saying "everyone should just be United's feeder clubs because I support Man United and they are great".

But then, the most important part of me is thinking, why is it that people like this write posts like they do, so filled with ardour that they completely miss the very obvious, very apparent disconnect between the first part and the second part. And that disconnect is that he bases his whole argument on his interesting theoretical discussion on modern footballing contracts, on situations where a player states categorically that he wants to leave, and then switches to a discussion of a real-life situation, Dier, where he switches to talking about when it is reported that the player wants to leave. He forgets that he is basing his argument on when a player has said he wants to leave and is now basing it on a media report that when he was 17 he said he would like to play for United or the factual nature of the claim that a friend of Dier said so. There has been no statement from Dier and an absolute confusion of the fact that Dier might like to join United, with the misconception that that is somehow the same as being desperate to leave Spurs. There is zero evidence that he is unhappy at the Lane at Wembley, zero evidence that he is actively looking to leave, and absolutely no statement that he is in an awful state either because he can't leave Spurs or because he can't join United. There hasn't even been a statement saying he would like to join United. What a prize-plum!

I also can't help but comment that it is somewhat typical of a United fan to either refer to incidents where they feel aggrieved or, at best, are absolutely neutral on. Surely the most apposite situation for him to refer to was the case of Gabriel Heinze. They didn't want him, he wanted to leave, Liverpool wanted him and he wanted to join Liverpool, but they forced him to stay until they could sell him abroad. Not that I am saying they were wrong, just that it is typical of them and their fans to believe that everything should be done to their advantage and every other club and every fan of every other club should just understand that and comply.

    Blue Moon:

Walker is fucking miles better than Trippier, and deep down every bitter Spurs fan and the rag/cockney media know it, whatever bollocks they make up in their tabloid shite. It'll be evident this season now how in the media he goes from England's best RB to overrated/can't cross/past his best.

Tbh he can't cross. He'll still be good, but £50m for a 27 year old we might only get 3 good seasons out of because of their game being predicated on athleticism doesn't fill me with joy. Mendy is already much better and his delivery is immense. I guess we needed homegrown players though.

We know he isn't worth 50 million but that's what you pay for a English player these days. I think he will be a great player for us in the next few seasons and we needed a good right back who knows the premier league inside out welcome aboard Kyle.

The first four headlines, after the live Arsenal friendly this morning, are all Manchester United on the Mail website. Yesterday, I read a range of journalists picking the one striker they'd love at their club. All bar two picked Harry Kane! It's no wonder we get what we get from our media.

Apparently Lineker tweeted 'how much would Walker be if he could cross a ball'. That hasn't gone down well....

    Nasty big eared ****

All ears with nothing in between :D

Unusual for a club to officially state a player was surplus to requirements , simple fact is Walker fell out with Pinocchio when he was dropped for the FA Cup Semi Final against the Chavs and Walker then wanted out , Levy & Pinnchio can put what ever spin they want on the transfer , simple fact is they have lost an excellent footballer to their title rivals , and the decision to sell Walker it will not hasten their nearly 60 year wait for a league title. Often wonder why the two big North London clubs consider themselves title contenders when in effect they are now our feeder clubs.

Nope. Not a fact at all. Terms had already been agreed with City by then and Spurs being told of Walker's wish to leave led to him being dropped. You're the wrong way around.

It'll be interesting to hear Hoddle commentary,he praises all the spurs players with ridiculous comments, see what he says about ky now

Even if it was true that terms had been agreed, you'd keep schtum till the summer wouldn't you?...cannot see what Walker would gain out of informing the club mid season....so I conclude, this is complete bolax.

Because we've contended for the title during the past two years?! Fuck now I'm starting to get very annoyed with these City lot. Been a while since they last beat us as well.
