THIS. At 3-0 on Wednesday with 12 minutes to go you could feel the tension in the crowd that we may still not win this game. I couldn't believe the negativity. The two guys either side of me were getting so worked up and then we conceded and it was like we'd gone behind. Sure Madrid were pressing but they should be chasing the game, it didn't ever look to me that we would concede another 3 in the final 10 minutes but "we've done it before" was the type of thing you could hear in the stadium. This is a different Spurs and the fans need to catch up to that fact (West Ham against a half first team not withstanding). We should have been bouncing that last 10 minutes not biting the nails.

I don't think the tension was because it was spurs, it was because it was Madrid. All that needed to happen was Ronaldo to ping one in from no where and all of a sudden it's 3-2. It was an unbearably long final 10 minutes.

Danny was never the sharpest tool in the shed. But to help you out you can find out all about him......................................................
...........here! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danny_Higginbotham
Sorry it’s Higginbotham, still a bloody stupid name.Must be his 3 caps for Gibraltar that make him qualified to be a pundit on sky:( he said it on the Debate last night. Was pretty funny he obviously hates us. Every time he mentioned top 4 was “United City Chelsea ....” literally couldn’t bring himself to say our name.
I tell you who loves us is Craig Bellamy.Actually quite rate him, funny feeling he will be a top manager.

Agreed - it's a recurring problem that we need to find a consistent solution to.

My opinion is we're too slow and cautious in our approach to such teams. We've got the talent to play faster and batter teams like this offensively, so we should go for it a bit more.

We certainly have the ability to play more quick passing, one touch football against those teams who park the bus against us. That type of play is also likely to draw more fouls giving us the chance of free kick or penalties. The extra confidence we should get from this week's win will, hopefully start to show itself on Sunday with a good win against Palace.

Well where I was sitting we knew Real would score at sometime but never really felt we would lose once the first goal went in

It was both, I've over 30 years of Spurs supporting reflexes ingrained into me, it's going to take a few years still until i get 'not happy until we're at least four goals ahead and less than five mins to go' out of my system. Same applies to my unnatural excitement about rumours of signing anyone from South America and my distrust of JVC products.

I think at 3-0 we were flying but when they got one back, their tails went up and it could have very easily gone 3-2 or worse. As others said, it was possibly the longest 10 minutes off my life. I don't think it was unreasonable to be tense.

I think it's worse in the games when we're 0-0 at around 65-70 minutes when the ground start getting antsy and letting out a very loud "Argh" at every misplaced pass/shot.

I know what you mean but it's been less so since poch has taken over because our defence is that much better. If the game was against a team like Swansea I wouldn't have been so nervous, but it was Real Madrid and they are capable of anything.

I was pretty bad. Just seeing them attack every minute made me fear the worse. We couldn't get on the ball after their goal and I was very nervous. Soz.

Merson said we can win CL :geek:

Danny higginbottom(Whoever the f**k he is) said England would beat spurs :woot:

Not quit sure how that would work but hey ho.Literally Saying Cahill Jones stones are better than Toby Sanchez jan lol.

Was thinking if I was a footballer and my name was higginbottom,I’d change my name.Nobody would ever take you seriously even if you were as good as kane.

Higginbottom is probably one of the most biased and dull pundits out there. Anything from Manchester is great and everywhere else is just there to make the numbers.
I also watched him on The Debate, and I cannot fathom how he is a football pundit. I did get the gist he didn’t appreciate our achievements so far, but to be honest thoughts from a substandard footballer who achieved nothing in the game to come and belittle most teams is a time waste.
I’m pretty sure they add “ex Manchester United and Stoke player” when introducing him so people might think he might have some gravitas with his opinions. Not quite the same if they jut said “Ex Stoke defender”

Merson for all his crap actually gives us a lot of plaudits.

I'm pretty sure that when they describe HIgginbotham as an ex-Manchester United and Stoke player, it's probably to remind viewers who two of his many employers were during his distinctly mediocre career. His United connection? He spent 6 years there (including his time as a trainee) and made 4 (yes, four) League appearances for the Red Devils. I've just checked his career details, and couldn't remember him with any of his clubs

The only reason I think anyone ever bought Holsten. The only bright side being we weren't sponsored by Skol or Long Life.

Have a feeling Arry wanted Bellamy at Spurs at one stage and Bellamy was keen. Cant remember what happened though.

I think the selling club didn't want to let him go to us. Did he play for West Ham at one point? I don't remember.

I always wanted him at Spurs, actually think he was very underrated throughout his career.
