Liverpool fans on whether they want English teams to progress in Europe

We really got to them last week, we are now on par with United

Interesting, it's like we didn't beat them 6-3 on aggregate over our 2 games this season

And a special shout out for their complete lack of self awareness
If they're going to continue with this then can we start mentioning Heysel?

Looking forward to work tomorrow. My manager is a United fan and will be pretty pissed off after their loss today, he was in full on meltdown mode during our game on WhatsApp so this should be funny.

There's a gooner at work he was convinced they were gonna smash us up, I look forward to seeing him.

There's another gooner who I don't really know but proceeds to rub it in my face if they've won and we've dropped points. I don't even know the fucker yet he's being a twat? Why are people like that? When the results have been reversed and I've seen him I haven't said a damn thing. Might just start chuckling to myself if I see him tomorrow.

Bumped into the first gooner earlier on, said Kane fouled koscielny when he scored. Idiot.

One Woolwich fan I know who is a sports journalist. Does paint quite a neutral pic to be honest and isn't one of them fans you just want to punch in the face. He just texted me at the end of the game and said I am sick to death of Harry Kane.

They were still relieved about a Drogba-free existence and then along came Harry.

Its a great article that offers a different perspective on the 'slow build up' debate.

I agree that man-marking Dembele is not ideal, but disagree with his reasoning. Man marking Dembele doesn't work because he brushes his marker to the floor, just ask Wilshere. It's unique for a CM and why he suits the system well.

The Borja Valero example is exactly why I think some of the criticism to Dembele is harsh. Many think that a quick-passing playmaker would speed up our build up (the logic is reasonable), but in practice the opposition can strangle the supply with tight marking - again, just ask Wilshere (27 successful passes). When Winks plays for example, he tries to drop his marker using quick one-twos but this also slows our build up, just in a different way.

This isn't to say that some of the criticism of the slow build up play isn't unwarranted - but I think the criticism should be shared with those runners. How many times have we seen the likes of Dele anticipate a first time pass from Dembele, only to be stuck on his heels, offside with his arms up once Mousa takes on his man and finally picks his head up. If we delay the runs, as I think we have done the last few weeks we get the best out of Mousa. If we are playing against a bus-parking team that sit off our midfield, I think we need to get Mousa on the ball much further forward or simply bring on Winks.

Totally agree with this.

Can we clone him?!?

Curiously you cant bring yourself to say **** but mongs you're ok with

For a lot of people thats much, much worse, me included

Oh I can say it. But for some reason you get banned saying it, but can say anything else and it’s ok.

And stop being so over the top over “mongs”. It’s got a few meanings, so stop highlighting the one you don’t like. Stick me on ignore and dislike it, if it bothers you that much.

The other thing about the "slow build-up" complaint is that it is out of date. One of Pochettino's less heralded abilities is to cajole new skills out of supposedly fully-formed footballers. We don't see it a lot because he prefers to work with younger players, but look at what he has done with Vertonghen and [especially] Dembélé.

A fully-fit Dembélé is virtually unplayable. But what does he do with the ball when he has it? He rarely shoots. He has to make something happen, but without having to score himself.

The answer is that he does something different to what he did last season and the season before. There have been a few lengthy, edited highlights of the Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal matches floating about here, focusing on tactics and how Tottenham managed to outplay these supposedly superior (i.e., more expensive) teams. Unlike the highlights on Match of the Day, they focus on midfield play and team shape, instead of just showing the assists and the goals. That means that they focus on Dembélé.

What do they show? They show 6, 7 and 8 examples of Dembélé receiving the ball, advancing with it, shrugging off challenges and then passing it forward, often precisely through a crowd, to the feet of a teammate in an attacking position. None of them shows him collecting the ball and shunting it off sideways, because he rarely does that anymore. He's been coached. At 30, he's had his whole approach revised and improved by a manager whose opinion he will heed.

Plenty of fans (you all know who I mean) only see what they expect to see, because they formed their fixed views of Dembélé two years ago and they don't allow for the possibility of progression. If you don't want to see what's there, you edit out what he's actually doing. If you see what's there, you see a player who does not have a problem with "slow build-up", because he changed what he does.

Bollocks. "Mongs" is in a class with "cripple" and "nigger" and "spastic". Don't even think of using it. Ever. No exceptions.

Recently we've had a few posts using hateful words like mongs, spastics etc etc

So before it gets its feet under the table, this is not acceptable AT ALL and anyone using such language will suffer the consequences.
