Strange window by them. Not really improved their first XI. They should have been looking to buy a top wide midfiekder to replace Lamela. He did improve last season but that is one position they should have upgraded on. (n)

It's amazing how little other fans know about other clubs' players. Two major things wrong there - 1) Lamela is not a wide midfielder. We don't really play with any wide midfielders. 2) He's one of the first names on the team sheet and we would be genuinely hard pressed to find a player that can provide what he does for the team. Alli, Eriksen and Lamela complement each other and produce a blend of skills that suits the way we're set up perfectly. I think it's just a case of people seeing him have a crap first couple of seasons and making their minds up based on that. It happens the other way round too. Eriksen's quality but other fans seem to overestimate his abilities. He hasn't scored a free kick in ages (granted doesn't get too many opportunities), his corners are very poor, and he has spells in games where he's just a passenger. He's got bags of talent to make up for it, is capable of moments of magic, and can certainly work hard at other times. It's just that he's not the complete package yet, despite others thinking he is. Same goes for Alli, who often makes rash decisions, or holds on to the ball for too long. All 3 are quality players but none of them are the finished article.

I don't think Liverpool fans are in a position to berate our players anyway. They've got some decent players but nobody who stands out. The one exception being Coutinho, who does have some real flair to his game. Like our main attacking 3 he's got flaws himself. As talented as he is he likes to go missing for games. I like him but he's not an upgrade on the Eriksen, Lamela or Alli. I'd say they're all on the same level really.

If anyone remembers what happened to Claude over the summer, he speaks out about it here.

He also previews the season in the last third of the video. Says he thinks that we are best prepared going into the season and "if you finish above Spurs, you'll win the league"

Also watch the last few seconds for a preview of another video which includes an amazing Ty prediction

Claude is the one fan on Arsenal Fan TV who I actually have some time for. Doesn't see everything through red tinted glasses.
He doesn't look right in that video. Really hope he's getting the help he needs.

Rawk's take on the M & M departure from WHL:

Not all going well there, who knew Levy was hard to work with!

Njie cost £12m? Blimey, what a bust he was.

I think Lamela's in for a big season this year, he scored 5 and assisted 9 last year. Not sparkling by any means but he's improved year on year and I expect him to be in double figures for both this year. (y)

Thought they needed to add numbers to their squad rather than first 11.

I've had this shit window bollocks from a few people now, I call their bluff everytime. I ask them to suggest what position we could improve, apparently replace Lamela. So I say okay name a replacement. I then explain how we'd need to drop 60 mill on a player to improve this 11 and the relative % of improvement we would get from that outlay isn't worth it.

Our window has been solid.

@Sweech is great but you have the likes of We'veGotDeleAlli and Vicar of Dibly who aren't much better than GlastonSpur (maybe a bit harsh of Vicar of Dibbly but We'veGotDeleAlli is a total tube).
I've done some browsing on there and yea you're being harsh on Vicar of Dibbly. I've not seen him making outrageous claims or getting obsessive. He just seems to counter some of the opposing fan's stupid claims. The problem with We'veGotDelliAlli is that he can't accept any criticism or adverse opinion at all of any spurs players, even when the opinion is half reasonable.

Yep agree 100% we need to spend £60m+ on a marquee signing otherwise squad has fallen behind others. There is no point in buying squad players that will not improve us. Question is are we happy with that?

I don't dislike Claude, but the grief he gets is totally self inflicted. I have zero sympathy for him whatsoever. No one is forcing him to sit in front of the camera, and no one is making him confess for his current predicament other then him.

Don't really see anything wrong with what he said apart from under-rating Lamela, which is understandable from someone who probably doesn't watch Spurs closely. We do play with wide attacking midfielders, although they interchange and come narrow for a lot of the game. Eriksen, Lamela, Son, Chadli, Njie and Alli are our options in attacking midfield with some untested youth behind them. Chadli's a great squad player but no world beater. Eriksen didn't have his shooting boots on last season. Son has been hit or miss so far although plenty of potential. Lamela getting better every year although isn't anywhere near world class yet. Alli is still halfway between a CM and ACM. Njie hasn't done anything of note whatsoever yet. You could argue that with our current status in football we could have thrown down some big money on an attacking midfielder to play on the left or right

Spoke to a friend who is a gooner. Not surprisingly he believes that the scum will finish above us this season and that we will struggle. At no point last season he felt threatened that we were going to win the title or finish on top of them.

Interestingly though, he did say that he would rather us win the league then Liverpool.

A quick run down of their most important players:

Harry Kane: could shelter two boats of Syrian refugees on a Greek sea with the underhang of his nose, before trying to become a father figure to the kids on board, offering them shelter and belonging if they’d only pick a pocket or two.

Delle Ali: when he’s finished being sucked off by journalists hopefully he can get back on his BMX and start terroring the younger kids outside the school gates on Friday.

Wanyama: a barrel chested slug who turns up for the big games like some low grade Yaya Toure.

Erik Lamela: cracking player.

Eric Dier: MOYLES.

Danny Rose: the archetypal play for Spurs, play for England underwhelming player.

Lloris: right out of something that Herge would write, the alluring wet fart.

That’s your Spurs.

"Always had a strange hatred of Spurs - think it comes from Soccer Am when I was growing up and the stupid Taxi Driver Sketch with him shouting 'Top six side always have been and always will be.' Their fans have always seemed like they are bigger than they are, in much the same way Villa fans used to and the Geordies still think they are..... Anyway nice preview. 1-0 to the toffees with Deulofeu to get us off and running COYB"

"
It will be a DISASTER.

We'll get destroyed 8-0, with Lukaku not starting as he feigns injury to get a move away, Williams being at fault for 4 of the goals despite not playing, and Barkley getting injured.

Koeman resigns straight after the match while calling Moshiri a fraud.

The Old Lady collapses once everyone's left and we're left with no stadium.

And it all could have been avoided had we gone into the game with a positive net spend."

"Head says 3-0 Spurs in this one. Only ourselves to blame for not getting the personel in

If Kone doesn't start (rom injured) I can see him leaving before the end of the season

If we can scrape a draw from this then we have another week to sort the squad out!"

"...
and speaking of cheeks, I fear we might get dry bummed this game
Wild boars of the forest 0, Spurs 3"

"This fixture last season Kane forgot his boots and we should have lost by a couple. Under koeman I'm positive we won't leak goals but our team is not fully complete so I do fear for us on Saturday. 2-1 Spurs but love a one nil Barkley special. Just don't be six nil and heads drop early.

As a squad and fan base we need to build resilience and gain a growth mindset. We arnt there yet but all the signs are positive with the addition of a couple more class players.

I'll be watching from barca hopefully so VAMOS BLUES."

The Grand Old Team forum always has a great piece written before their next game. I've just cut and pasted some of the better pieces of the article. But pop over and give the whole piece a read, I'm sure you'll all enjoy it. The writer has dug out some great Spurs photo's from the past too:

It’s back. That weekend headache and thrashing rage of Everton putting you in a bad mood as they fail to live up to your expectations.

The best there ever was, swear to God.

You still love them though. It’s ok, you keep a secret? I do too.

So what’s new for this season? What changes or difference to previous seasons are there that can give us misplaced optimism? Quite a few actually. We’ll cover probably not even half of them, if you are so kind to read on.

Big Ron Koe, with a face like Bjork’s mother ate some peanuts and was allergic to them, is now at the helm since we last previewed. It’s been heralded widely as a good thing but we’re that shy at being bitten that we’ll all go along with it until the point the majority of us are fuming at him, or even if we win something, Imagine that?

Before you think you’ve turned onto a really low grade discussion on the Bella website let me point out right here and now that Spurs are more tolerable than many other Premier League sides and that makes for a dull preview, therefore the Chas n Dave swinging cockmonkeys will receive some feigned partisanship as it’s not like these previews offer anything than that, or a desperate bog read.

Spurs probably reached their high tide mark last season. Everyone’s got a high tide mark.

Spurs are this season gonna be fighting against Man Utd, Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea, maybe another Leicester and even Liverpool in the mix for top six. They had a golden window last season and in a manner we can completely empathise with they spunked it far too early.

Leicester took the spoils and the memories which will keep them warm in cold winters for the rest of their days. Spurs finished third in a two horse race. Sure there’s some young players who will get better and a progressive coach but deep down they know, as you do, that it’s not that way. Moyes in the season we finished fourth. It’s just a question of how bored they get of Pochettino from this point onwards, if he keeps them around European places then he could get a Moyes like run. But modern day football fans are not a patient species.

They’re gonna wham us on Saturday and no mistake so what about their fans? They’re not a bad sort. They’re clinging onto the reputation of the club which is usually at odds with placement in the league but then others would say the same about us. They’re too close to their liking to a horde of complete and utter texan reds who they call rivals, and that builds character. Truth be told I’ve always been attracted by the tradition and romanticism of Spurs so it’s hard to criticise them. It really is a shitty away day with that Tottenham Court Road being like some superstate Lark Lane of the future, but their fans suffer and that suffering in fans makes for an easier relation with other fans.

Two league titles is an embarrassment though, and FA Cups used to mean something until that time Man Utd wanted to play in Brazil instead. That slurred Spurs Go Marching In song gnaws at my skull like the onset of winter depression. And Beckford’s goal on the last day v Chelsea was miles better than any goal Ricky Villa ever scored.

They also started the riots a few years ago which nearly killed us all because some lad who was a jarg gangster and would have struggled to take a road in Nogsy got shot. That’s on you Spurs.

Pochettino is challenging Koeman in the swollen allergic face competition but is much more of a handsome cad, if that’s your type. He’s assembled a bunch of good footballers but then every single Spurs manager since WWII has achieved that, it’s just that they struggle to put them together to achieve anything. Let them be fighting over Paul Holmes, Matt Jackson and Earl Barret for right back before they start crying foul.

A quick run down of their most important players:

Harry Kane: could shelter two boats of Syrian refugees on a Greek sea with the underhang of his nose, before trying to become a father figure to the kids on board, offering them shelter and belonging if they’d only pick a pocket or two.

And follow up responses below, btw the Everton fans were all very negative last season and said we'd batter them in both games and look what happened then....

-------------------------------------------------

Spurs would certainly be in my list of "teams I hate the least"

Obviously hope we welly them (Which is exceedingly unlikely seeing as we're not fit and have a gaggle of injury doubts) but if we can't win the League this season (LOL!!!) I'd like Spurs to be the ones who do it

I can't go with my usual prediction of Everton winning 1-0 with Tony Hibbert getting the goal (Alas poor Hibbo, I knew him @@Allezfan), so I'll instead be optimistic and say this ends 1-1, with us scoring first only to pish it away in the last 20 minutes and then desperately hold on for a point

------------------------------

Well in @@chicoazul

We're getting 100% arseblasted on Saturday but at least the preview made me chuckle

4-0 Spurs

-----------------------------

Always had a strange hatred of Spurs - think it comes from Soccer Am when I was growing up and the stupid Taxi Driver Sketch with him shouting 'Top six side always have been and always will be.' Their fans have always seemed like they are bigger than they are, in much the same way Villa fans used to and the Geordies still think they are..... Anyway nice preview. 1-0 to the toffees with Deulofeu to get us off and running COYB

-----------------------------

It will be a DISASTER.

We'll get destroyed 8-0, with Lukaku not starting as he feigns injury to get a move away, Williams being at fault for 4 of the goals despite not playing, and Barkley getting injured.

Koeman resigns straight after the match while calling Moshiri a fraud.

The Old Lady collapses once everyone's left and we're left with no stadium.

And it all could have been avoided had we gone into the game with a positive net spend.

-----------------------------

I am generally a very optimistic person...to a fault sometimes, but I can't help but feel we are going to struggle here. Especially if we are missing Rom.

Between a new manager, few signings, and what appears to be a couple of key injuries, I think a draw would be a very good result.

-----------------------------

Last chance saloon for some of our players who we constantly say are great but constantly let us down.
On a more positive note im looking forward to our players not being over ran by a fitter and stronger opposition. Surely the fitness issues have been addressed by koeman. 2 1 to us with gerry bagging the winner. Coyb

------------------------------

642-0 to Spurs.

An utter shambles.

Booo Everton.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

------------------------------

Listening to Mr Koeman's presser, he doesn't exactly give you much hope for the weekend - could be wrong. I think he's now realising just how bad we are and how much the squad needs to be improved. Clearly fitness levels, attitude and style of play all need to be dramatically worked on. He's gonna need time and I'm sure the crowd will accept this.

------------------------------

Early goal for Spurs, us booed off at half time, Kone on as a second half sub, 3-2 up going into injury time, lose 3-4 with a late, late show after the referee adds on 6 minutes instead of the 2 that was held up. COYB!

-------------------------------

Head says 3-0 Spurs in this one. Only ourselves to blame for not getting the personel in

If Kone doesn't start (rom injured) I can see him leaving before the end of the season

If we can scrape a draw from this then we have another week to sort the squad out!

----------------------------------

We'll play ace attacking hard tacking high pressing football. And batter them 0-0.

----------------------------------

This fixture last season Kane forgot his boots and we should have lost by a couple. Under koeman I'm positive we won't leak goals but our team is not fully complete so I do fear for us on Saturday. 2-1 Spurs but love a one nil Barkley special. Just don't be six nil and heads drop early.
