I’m guessing you weren’t around in the 70’s and 80’s.

Now THAT was hatred amongst fans. I once got chased onto the High Road by about 20 City fans carrying Stanley knives, determined to cut me up...

I was 12.

Only trouble my dad ever had at football wa at City in the 70’s where he got stabbed in a big press of fans all packed together - luckily he was wearing a thick leather jacket so didn’t suffer much damage but he never went back to Maine Road.

Anyone else glad Southampton are in the shit? Their deluded fans pissed and moaned about Puel who got them 8th last season and a cup final because the football wasn’t that great. Now look at them only out the bottom 3 because of goal difference. Hopefully they will go down the silly ****s!!!! Can’t stand them or Leicester. Both obsessed and hate Spurs.

Funnily enough, I lived in Manchester for a while in the ‘70s. I quite often went to Maine Road and felt safe there. I hated Old Trafford, though - very evil and animalistic crowd.
The only time I got punched was at Bolton, when we were in the old 2nd division. What a bunch of bulging-eyed, mouth-foaming Orcs.

That’s far worse than any racist or homophobic comment, that’s appalling, horrible if true. To laugh at the death of his baby kid would make most people lose it. If Livermore kept a civil tongue and fist then all the respect to him.

I really hope that is nonsense.

If that's true that is about the most disgusting thing you could ever say to a parent. Clearly whoever (allegedly) said that isn't a parent themselves or they'd know that is about the worse thing you could ever say to anyone.

Unforgivable

That’s why I kind of hope it’s not true, as you say I can’t think of anything worse someone could say to a person, Livermore must be crushed if he got that, poor guy.

I wouldn’t be so sure. You only need working genitalia to be a parent.

It wasn't a random or spontaneous insult either. There was a great deal of press coverage of how shattered and grief-stricken Livermore was when his baby died, how hard it hit him and how he failed a drugs test after he went off the rails a bit in response to the bereavement. So it wasn't just targeted to remind him of his grief, it was also designed to remind him of the scandal and humiliation that followed. Really vicious behaviour.

It was done to wind him up. It worked.

Being a ‘football fan’ is becoming as socially unsavoury as being a ‘gamer’
