Carried on reading through the thread and it was all surprisingly respectful saying we have a strong team, Liverpool will have to be on top of their game etc etc and then normal RAWK service was resumed with

Is it really a fear thing or is it that all the top 6 are typically good at home?

This seems like such a red herring to me, as if beating top 6 sides on their own turf is somehow commonplace and it's only us who don't do it. Fact is we usually beat those teams at home ourselves which already highlights how that's clearly not the case.

Genuine question but which of the top 6 are blowing away the other top 6 in away matches? I imagine most of the other teams away wins record look just like ours against top 6 rivals.
Yeah it bollocks, you can turn it around and ask how many of the top 6 beat us at home

We didn't do too badly last season (excuse the first part of the image)

That's not away tho, is it? That's all games.

Also the media flexes it to be 'against the traditional big four', 'the top 5' and 'the top 6' to suit their agenda.

Poch's problem is it pre-dates him. We have a terrible record going back years. Against Utd/Liverpool/Arsenal/Chelsea we have four wins in our last 97 Premier League away games.

PS more recent stats - manager's away win rate against top 6 managers since start of 2015/16 season

1. Guardiola, Man City - 38%

2. Klopp, Liverpool - 36%

3. Conte, Chelsea - 25%

4. Mourinho, Man Utd - 9%

5. Pochettino, Spurs - 8%

6. Wenger, Arsenal - 0%

Which is what Mourinho likes to do, but it appears that may be an outdated way of doing things.

It was fine when it was a Top 4 and there were only "the other 3" to potentially lose to. Now it's a top 6 that's an extra 12 points that are up for grabs.

In total if you beat all the 14 other sides at home (42pts) and let's say you win half your away games and draw the rest (32pts - which would be some feat) that's 74 points. That total would not have won the premier league in any single season since it started in 92'.

It's a flawed approach.

Interesting. Fair play to Klopp. Might you an average points per away game?

It's just difficult to pull off. But I do wish that Poch could learn how to play a tighter formation and try to "bore" the home team. He has shown this season that he can do it (RM, Liverpool) but last season it was frustrating as fuck.

Klopps problem certainly in seasons prior to this is losing against the smaller teams/teams who park the bus. It's all well and good beating the top teams but not worth anything if you consistently lose against the lower teams

I also think the teams below are improving - Even if just incrementally.

It means you can't just rely on going to those clubs, smashing them, and then playing for the draw against the rivals anymore. Wins are critical now and a draw is almost as good as a loss.

And his solution has been to just keep giving the ball to Salah to harrass fullbacks and bank that if Salah can go at a fullback 20 times a match one time he'll score or create a goalscoring opportunity. Did similar with Mane last year but Salah has been in much more consistent form.

If I can be arsed, ha. At work at the mo. I found a feature that listed them up to 7th November 2017, then added the rest on. But the feature was only wins, not points, which is why I continued it in that vein. If I'd done it from scratch, I would have done full wins, draws, losses
