Really don't understand the uproar this causes amongst our fanbase tbh.
People seem to ignore the fact that Its nearly always sang in response to a song from the opposition fans, either 'Champions League....you're having a laugh' or something similar, its directed at the fans... not at the team.
And to bring it up after yesterday, after all the disgusting stuff those cretins have sang at us in the past, I find it bloody hilarious that some are getting sandy vaginas over our fans calling another team shit.

Yeah spot on and I don't understand why people have such a problem with singing it when the Spurs faithful sing classless songs like the Campbell song, Arsenal fan on a string etc...and then try to make out like we're classier than other sets of fans...ok then

Spurs fans sang about Alonso on Sunday...where was the uproar for that lol

Can't have it both ways...ultimately it's such a stupid thing to get upset over, if you're gonna have a go at fans for singing that then you should be campaigning to get the other songs banned in that case.

Because we are better than them? Because we should act better than them? If chelsea fans shout racist abuse at one of our players should we do the same to one of theirs?

I want us to show class. Mourinho and arsehole players like wilshire might act like wankers but i don't want that from poch or kane. Same as i want our fans to hold themselves to a higher standard.
You must be a lot of fun to go to games with baz, a real hoot.
This is to do with fans winding up other fans.
I've never condoned racism so I'm not sure why on earth you'd bring that up.
This just sounds like another case of internet high horsery to me.

No problem with friendly banter. Calling a heavily financed team shit falls into this category IMO. Give and take.

What did they sing about Alonso? His situation shouldn’t be sung about but not because it offends him, he deserves worse, but because of the victims family and how they’ve been affected. Alonso, well that he’s allowed to have a career as a footballer earning millions is a disgrace. If he had any morality then every last penny he earns barring what he needs to survive should go to the victims family and charities aimed at rehabbing victims of drunk drivers.

Yes and no. Stoke, WBA, Bournemouth are heavily financed but still will never be able to compete for the players we can go for, so calling them shit is a bit classless. Chelsea, Liverpool, Man United, yes, fine with that.

You're shit song works against lower teams if you are a poor team or an average mid table side and I think a lot of our fans are still stuck in that mould. Our team is now one of the elite and we need to get with that, lording it over the bottom clubs just ain't funny or witty so it ain't good banter.

Again, with no context you're right...but when they've been giving us shit all game, and we're 2 or 3 up, they've asked for it Imo.

Yes...maybe should have clarified. Those latter teams were exactly who I was referring to.

Can't remember the lyrics but yeah it was about the car crash, proper cringey stuff and far worse than that you're shit song.

So I suppose Spurs fans sholdnt sing it at West Ham fans either seeing as they're in the same bracket as the others you mentioned then?

This picking and choosing when to sing it is tedious really, it's a catchy song (Hey Jude) so fans will sing it regardless of the team we are playing.

Lol...A&C can threaten our mum's with his rod of doom, or whatever else his weapon of the week is currently called.

Funny ratings ensue. Rightly so, as it is harmless banter. Dare I say a bit of harmless fun.

But call another football team shit...oh no, way beyond harmless fun. This is deemed classless.

Funny bunch, almost makes me appear somewhat sane.

No...not the footballer Sane smartarse.

Yeah with context, it's ok I guess, though I would prefer a wittier song myself, but the thugs at Chelsea won't get any sympathy from me. Would prefer it if we didn't sing it against Stoke though,

The only time I've disagreed with this song was against Rochdale. Other than that singing it at the long time Premier league clubs is fine. Singing it against someone like Brighton, Bournemouth etc seems a little pointless. I think Stoke would probably join in if we sing it at them. They seem to agree at the moment.

Exactly. It's all part of football rivalry these days. It hasn't got to be racist, homophobic or malicious in nature. Merely fans voicing there opinions about the game as it ebbs and flows.

I'm certainly not championing the need to get personal beyond friendly banter. But it's fine to hand a little back after being mocked and vice-versa.

Bit different with West Ham considering they sing anti senetic songs, make gas chamber sounds and abuse players who’s children have died.

Exactly but picking and choosing who to sing it against is silly, you either sing the song or you don't. You can't expect people to not singing the song just because we're playing Stoke. It's a bit of harmless fun and it'a hardly offensive. My main point is that there's far more songs being sung that should get people's backs up before this one.

Because singing it at shit teams is stating the bleeding obvious and not witty. Might as well sing at liverpool fans that they are from liverpool. They know that already.

We do, or used to. Remember
"in your liverpool homes,
you look in the dustbin for something to eat" etc etc?

Also, Bournemouth singing about "champions league you're having a laugh" meant the gloves were off as far as I was concerned.
I was still hurting at this point so they struck a nerve. The fuckers.
