Just because it's a tribal to you mate it doesn't mean that's what it means to everyone else. I watch footie with fans from all teams and enjoy it, I like the funny banter and actually, on more than a rare occasion, prefer watching football with fans of other teams than I do with some moaning, always complaining Spurs fans.

You don't own the game, mate. People can want to enjoy it however they want.

Right bundle of laughs you - been into football long ?

The passion and tribalism is what makes this game great and why Sky buy into the rights of the game. Do we want people siting there clapping politely?

Do you think people pay their Sky subscriptions to watch people like you sitting there motionless.p contributing nothing ?

I agree, you can enjoy the game however you want but please sit away from me and away from my TV screen.

I’m struggling to think of a single witty spurs song/chant. We best not sing anything.

Oh Ledley, Ledley. He’s only got one knee. Is that witty? No. Love it

Oh when the Spurs. Is that witty? Not especially seeing as it’s just ripped off Southampton. (I know they didn’t invent the tune before anyone says)

We are Tottenham super Tottenham. No

Thing I love most is being a yid. I think this is a bit witty but not really. Great song, though.

In terms of taunts you’ve got your “your grounds to big for you” “is there a fire drill” “1-0 and you fucked it up”

Im sure I’m missing some but none of these are particularly witty. I think the most witty ones are kind of spur of the moment, spontaneous jokes but you try being witty after 10 pints.

I personally always found the "I've never felt more like having a wank, when I'm watching Steed Malbranque play football, I feel like having a wank" highly witty

I'm not sure where I said I do anything as you have mentioned. I chant, I cheer, I rib my mates and I have been to plenty of games in my 30 odd years supporting spurs. I am very passionate about spurs, and I'm not sure why you think I am not?

There is a line for me and while the line might not be singing 'You're fucking shit' to Chelsea, which I actually support and find as the 'funny banter' mentioned in my post, tribalism is what fans use as an excuse when they are caught doing any nasty behaviour that comes along with the football and people have a right to want to go to football and not be subjected to aggressive behaviour just because people are feeling a bit tribal.

Just a bit of a sidetrack but interesting nonetheless, City fans on Walker. I thought he was regarded a bit better over there to be honest:

He’s been getting away with stuff for a few months, he was punished tonight just like he did against Wigan. He’s still been great, but needs to sharpen up.

Think he has been a weak link all season. Really dont understand how so many people rate him so highly. Is prone to so many brain farts. Has at least one obvious one per match. Doesn't offer much in an attacking sense. Doesn't add to our build up in any noticeable way. He's outstanding physically but aside from that, I am struggling to see it.

I'm aware this sounds harsh but if we want to be the best in Europe, he needs to be a lot better. Will reserve total judgement til Mendy comes back.

At Tottenham he was much more attacking RB than here. Here he has 1-2 really speedy runs into the box every 5 games. At Spurs he had per game.
Even Zabaleta was more of a threat to arrive in/around the box and he had hardly any pace.
Has to be limited tactically by Pep for some reason.

I think his entire purpose is to stop counter-attacks with his pace, which is why he doesn’t bomb on so much. He’s just there as a fail-safe should they break on us. And it works for the most part. Against sustained attacks though... well that’s different!

Totally agree.
I said on the matchday thread that if he wasn't quick he'd be a Championship player at best and I stand
by that. Complete lack of a football brain.

Should have cleared the first goal but also wasted the ball on so many occasions in the second half. He really can't cross to save his life!

Just clear the ball lad,2 chances to do so,as they said when we were younger if in doubt kick it out, poor from him last night, and has anyone noticed he's becoming a bit of a McManaman in the pointing game ?

Last night highlighted his deficiencies in big games. Fast runner but not a top defender

The one thing we didnt want to do tonight was gift the Dippers an early goal , but Walker did just that , really cannot understand why our players save their biggest cock ups for Klanfield , Stones and Ederson in the 3-4 and Walker tonight , he was also left exposed with no right winger in our team , but still the best right back in europe in my view.

Wigan away, Burnley away, Liverpool away. Not been good enough defensively in recent months and it's turned into a malaise rather than an off-game. Needs to concentrate and think about what he's doing. Another incomprehensible mistake if you're paying attention, concentrating and reading the game.

Needs genuine competition.

An incredible athlete, but prone to massive brain farts. I genuinely can’t remember the last time he put in a decent cross either.

Sounds like something you'd read on here about Walker to be honest. Think we did well getting so much £££ for him, although these reactions are obviously a bit of a knee-jerk reaction after a bad game yesterday.

A lot of those comments could have come from Spurs forums before 2014-15. It could be him adjusting to a new environment and the new instructions he has, or it could be him regressing to the player he was pre-Poch.

This is spot on....

You'll still get the 'Levy is only here to rip money out of Spurs' crowd going on like we sold Peak-Cafu and handed the League to City on a platter with the sale of Walker to City though...

It's not hard to realise that these errors happen because of the Liverpool press more than anything. It's more Pep refusing to move away from his principles when Klopp teams have always been his kryptonite than bad luck/timing. Keeper fuck ups I'll allow to some extent though.

It annoys me when we do it too against them.

Thought I'd take the unorthodox step and post what our opponents are saying about us. Here's a selection from Oatcake's 'Onto Spurs' thread:
Them spuds we got to nail Erikkson n wind up Ali n get him sent off ,high pressure on their defence at home we can do it

The only player to get sent off will be a stoke player when Ali takes a blatant dive in the peno area!!!

Sorry I just cannot see us beating Spurs...... I mean, we haven't even got a striker ffs.

Spurs are on a totally different level to us these days, we had may as well be playing Man City again.

if we get that little luck in each of the last 7 played games or so that we haven't got then - and put all those bits of luck into this particular game at home vs Tottenham then it might, just might, go all the way, provided we got a penalty ... AND score!

Miracle
1-0

The only hope I have is that for this game we can stop the 4-0 rot of a scoreline that under Hughes we seemed to accept

Kane will get at least 3 by himself, i see he's back from Injury just in time to tear us a new one again.

Wimmer will be buzzing to see his old pals and get some selfies after the game though so its all good!!

We wont score against them never mind win.

The sooner this season ends the better, roll on next year and hopefully trips to Wednesday, Leeds, Sheff United, Forest, Derby, Birmingham, Barnsley, Brentford etc.

A massive defensive effort and maybe a fluky goal might give us something to build on. The performances under Lambert are defensively far superior to what had gone on under Hughes this season. I'd take a point from this game and 7 or 8 from the four games v Burnley/WHU/Palace and Swansea to give us a chance of staying up.

We haven’t got a snowflakes chance in hell I‘m afraid.

We will either try to play it tight and get beat 2 or 3 or go for it and and get fucked about 5 or 6.

We just haven’t the players with the belief or the form to turn them over.

Most of their posts ahead of the game are bemoaning their lack of a recognised striker and some arguments about how much Hughes is to blame for their decline. The general feeling is they're doomed but a freak win on Saturday could change everything.

That is Kyle Walker in a nutshell!

There has been a growing lamentation on here of his departure - absense makes the heart grow fonder, i guess - but it is worth reading those comments, as they are a reminder of how we were all basically:
'£50m? Fuck yeah! most replaceable player in the team...'

Don't fall for it. They're trying to lull us into a false sense of optimism.
