Overexcited West Ham fan on bbc website:

If we could poach Poch, yes please! I'd take Wenger in a flash, he's a class act. I'd have also kept Moyes on, but then I wasn't privy to the behind-the-scenes deal that might materialise with (I assume) Benitez. Not sure I would go for Pellegrini, he's at the wrong end of his career. Fonseca would be exciting if we have him a long contract and let him develop the squad for several seasons.

A West Ham fan talking about poaching Pochettino without a hint of irony. Marvellous.

At least he knows who he wants if not Poch. It’s Wenger. Or Moyes. Or Benítez. Or Fonseca. But definitely not Pellegrini.

If only there was a clue in those six names as to which manager West Ham are most likely to end up with...

Pochettino
Paulo Fonseca
Rafa Benitez
David Moyes
Pellegrini
Wenger

Just reading the comments on the bbc website between West Ham fans and Newcastle fans about who’s a bigger club because of the hammers apparently wanting Benítez....

It brings back memories of when we used to argue with Newcastle fans a few years ago about who was bigger and who was going in the right direction. The stick we got in the Newcastle forums was immense because they believed they were bigger and better. A few years down the line and they’re absolutely chuffed they’re staying in the PL while we grab a CL place for the 3rd year in a row. Aston Villa fans were the same.

Whenever we have a mini shit period where we lose a couple of games during an otherwise excellent season, we could do worse to remember the arguments above and seeing where we are now and where they are now.

I feel for some of the Geordies. No one should have to resort to arguing with West Ham fans about who’s bigger.... No one.

?

For a few years they were better than us though. Depends on the timeline.

My favourite reply was:

"He seriously is a goal hanger. Plays so deep and waits for the ball over the top"

Literally describing three different styles of play

Sounds like one of my old mans VHS porn tapes bought from Romford Market hidden in the attic

Were they? When are you thinking of? I'm knocking on a bit and while I can remember them beating us a few times I can't ever remember a time when you would say that West Ham were better than us.

EDIT: Luka Van der Bale has just pointed out that - not for the first time - I'm talking bollocks.

(I'm right about West Ham though)

I never said otherwise, I’m really not sure from where you infer that I think we shouldn’t enjoy watching them. All I’ve said is that we have been better than them for pretty much a decade and remain better than them as the league, where we always finish ahead these days, does not lie. I caveated that by commenting that, should they beat Madrid this month, they would then have a semi credible argument that my above comment is no longer true.

I never made any comment on playing styles or enjoyment of other club’s exciting football,

People on this site need to stop reading things that aren’t in black and white and just respond to what posters have actually said, conversation and debate would flow far more freely.

What do you have against blacks and whites? Are you so consumed with hatred for your fellow man that you have to spout your racism on a football forum?

Jesus mate.

I fucking love Dele.
Yeah, me too. I genuinely adore him.

I just can't understand how there are Spurs fans that don't like him. He's pretty much a player that defines the 'Tottenham way;' he's ridiculously talented and an entertainer, but also a maverick. He gets you off you seat with his sublime moments of skill, and he's got a personality; he's not just a media trained monkey regurgitating the approved lines.

Yeah - but I feel I’d hate him a lot if he wasn’t ours

He's a bit of a wanker, but he's our wanker.

I hope he continues to be loathed and booed by every single opposition fan base. The more they do it the more he loves to stick two fingers up at them.

My favourite moments this season were when we cupped his ear v Chelsea and Bournemouth after taking the abuse and scoring.

He uses it as fuel, keep giving it to him you muppets.

This tongue in cheeky article by Esquire sums up why some hate him pretty well.

Esquire said:
Maybe it’s the flossing, or the time he flipped Kyle Walker off in front of a packed Wembley during a World Cup qualifier, but Alli's apparent joy in life and understanding of Instagram are red rags to baby boomers who see him as the apogee of the decadent, avocado-loving, mortgage-avoiding millennials they despise. An ill-timed post on Musical.ly after a limp exit to Mexico could seal his fate.

He isn’t a wanker at all
