Robbie Savage? Charlie Adam? David Beckham (after WC98)?

Dele Alli is very much in the mould of a Robbie Savage, Denis Wise, Paul Ince etc. And by that I mean if he plays for your team you love him but if he plays for the opposition you think he is a wanker. Alli is niggly, dirty, cheats and verbally winds up opposition players. He may be a lovely boy off of the pitch but on the pitch he IS a wanker. He just happens to be our wanker. His skin colour has NOTHING to do with anything.

Dirty niggling and cheats in what aspects please clarify those categories. I bet you Dele Alli is one of the most fouled players in EPL.
He's forever being tripped pulled back wound up the referee ain't protecting him at all.

Firstly, ask yourself why he is one of the most fouled? Well firstly, it's because opposition players want to foul him because he winds them up. Secondly it's because he is very good at "winning" fouls, e.g. feels a touch and goes down.

Cheating - are you seriously suggesting that Alli doesn't dive?
Dirty / Niggly - He often does niggly fouls, shirt pulling, the tiniest trip on opposition players, little kick at them when they are on the floor etc.

Guy is an absolute tool. Fu*k knows how he made it as a comedian, surely you actually have to be funny? Just talks a lot of bolloc*ks and thinks he’s Michael McIntyre. Having a dig at someone’s speech impediment shows the measure of the tw*t to get a cheap laugh.
Who's speech impediment did he have a dig at?

Kane, I would've thought.

I know a few people and have seen a lot of social media posts taking the piss out of the way he speaks, which just shows how little material they have against him, to be honest. Truth is he's consistently been one of the top goalscorers in Europe, he's about as down to earth and real as footballers come, he's worked his way up from rejection to acclaim and done so at his boyhood club, during a time when so few homegrown players are even getting a look in, let alone becoming a star.

So they can mock his speech if they want to, but it only goes to show how few faults they can find.

I only realised after watching the link.

Absolutely correct in your comments though, I don't remember Owen getting the same flak at his age despite being Englands saviour.

I see Alli as a very skillful player, cheeky (youthful) with all the nut megs he used to do, saying that it actually was effective and worked for him for a while.
When Alli's been interviewed he comes across well spoken and educated for his age some people might look at that in a certain way like Jenas before when he spoke people just didn't like him.

The cheating you labelled him as well that is a Pandoras box your Jamie Vardy Zaha even More Salah of late all instigate contact and go down its a manipulation of the rules.

I truly feel during the later part of this season Alli has grown up a lot curbed some aspects to his game and has been generally very good.

It also shows what kind if human beings they are.

Really? You're playing the race card.?
Poor show old chap :(
Apologies if i'm missing something.

I'm not sure but I think the poster was making a joke in poor taste because both Alli and Giggs are mixed race. Or maybe he's just being a ****. Or a bit of both. Not really sure.

I am not playing anything. I believe parts of the media have a problem with young, successful black/mixed race men. Feel free to disagree.

I do disagree.
I do agree however that the media have been gunning for Alli for months for no apparent reason but thats what they do, build them up and knock them down. They dont give a fk what race you are. They do it to everyone who has talent. Crouch got it big time and always has. Sturridge is another one whose face just doesnt fit imo and the media have always been quick to hang him out to dry.
I think if any of it is premeditated its far more likely to do with the networking of agents within football and the media than anything else.
Alli along with Kane are 2 of the brightest stars in English football so they are both gonna get constant critisism because unfortunately negativity sells newspapers and gets people calling in on the radio. Thats not down to race.
Look at Andy Murray he was always Scottish until he won Wimbledon and then suddenly he was British in the eyes of the media. They are total assholes, I think everyone agrees on that.

If you can't see the persistent haranguing of black footballers by the right wing media, particularly with regard to how they spend their money, you need to have a word with yourself. It's not like they try to hide it.

You are correct that the media in general like to criticise footballers regardless of their race, but certain sections of the right wing (most notably the Daily Mail) are open in their loathing of successful, wealthy, young black men in a much more targeted way. And if you take the moral aspect out of it, it makes perfect sense for them to do that from a business viewpoint because their readership, who are all scum (if anyone reads the Mail and thinks this is unfair because you don't consider yourself racist - sorry, you're still scum for funding a race-baiting, hateful rag like the Mail, and you should be ashamed of yourself) want to be justified in hating people who are more successful than them despite being - in their mind - fundamentally inferior.

I cannot emphasise enough that not only is it beyond question that the Mail targets black footballers, but that it is, to my mind, something they consciously do because it's what their readers want. A more cynical person than me would question A) whether you're choosing not to see it, and B) why that might be.

Photographers used to leave bottles of whisky on paul gascoignes doorstep then ring the doorbell. He'd pick it up and snap. Next day headlines, who's back on the piss again?

It's not about race, it's about what stories sell. They couldn't give a shit what colour you are when they fuck you.

This may come as a shock but no, I dont read the Daily Mail, or The Sun, or any newspapers so l'll take your word for it.
I'm refering more to TV and radio than shit rag newspapers that everyone with an IQ over a cheese sandwich knows are not even fit to wipe your arse on.
Surprised anyone still buys them.
Fyi my Dad buys The Sun. He's 73 and set in his ways. Only buys it for the sport and then moans about it every day saying what a load of bollox. But he's Glaswegien and has a black belt in moaning. Taught me everything I know lol.
And calm the fuck down before jumping to conclusions and implying Im racist please. Not cool.

If you genuinely don't see a racial element to the treatment of black footballers by certain segments of the media then I apologise for that implication. However you should expect to get that reaction from a lot of people as it's the most logical explanation for someone denying there is anything untoward about that treatment of black players.

Parts of the media are absolutely shameless with the way they treat Sterling. Comes across naive at the best, racist at the most. Here's a few examples just off the top of my head:

- Early in his career, he took a Ryanair or EasyJet flight to Malaga. In come the Daily Mail, ripping him for spending £80 when he takes home £200k. But you know damn well if he got a 1st class ticket he'd get ripped for that too.

- They made sure we knew all about it when his Mercedes crashed with a canister of laughing gas inside. Turns out he wasn't even driving that night, and let a mate take it.

- Shouldn't be a huge story when Sterling goes to Primark but the media think it is, again telling us how much he makes and how much the things he bought were. Why?

- They tell us he has like 3/4 kids, in actually it's just two

- Called his girlfriend the 'long suffering fiance' in a recent article on WAGs, whilst Harry's fiance is the 'childhood sweetheart'. He met her at the same age Kane met his fiance ffs.

Honestly the media with Sterling are a joke, feel like if his name was Michael instead of Raheem, and he was a young white man, the media wouldn't go as far as they do to find dirt on him

Sorry to write an essay on bullshit like this but the media really needs to be held to account as it's a potentially v dangerous thing

I see players of every race getting lambasted by the media that I view and listen to not constant black player bashing with no white player bashing. Everyone gets it. Theres no doubt theyve been after Alli lately but why that is I would hope isnt down to race.
Maybe I see it this way because when I view or listen to the media race just doesn't come into it for me, I just think they're on about player A because its about player A.
For you it is clearly at the forefront of anything you see so who is looking at this with clarity?
Truth is probably neither of us.
Sounds like your biggest problem is with the tabloids and as I said I don't read them so can't really comment either way.
I did wonder, literally just a few days ago, why TS don't have any black presenters, none Im aware of anyway. Christ knows why that popped in my head but it did.
Anyway, derailing thread here lol.
