I agree with you about Henry Winter, he comes across as incredibly self-important and arrogant to me, I can't stand him.

What's your issue with Sid Lowe though if you don't mind me asking? I'm not a massive fan of his or anything but he's always just seemed kind of bland and inoffensive to me, he's not one of these WUM types or anything. Admittedly, I've only ever heard him on the Guardian podcast doing his little 2 minute roundups of La Liga though so he doesn't get much of a chance there to show his "true colours" if he is a prick.

No idea who you mean with "Martin" though so I'll just assume he's a prick :D

Think he means Martin Samuels, fat prick, west ham supporting "journo". His hatred for Spurs will make him self combust one day.

don't know why people are bitching about Henry Winter - doesn't endlessly follow the narrative like others who haven't had an original thing to say since the 80s and has always been very complimentary about.

So Harry signing for us make him lack ambition, yeah! Right!

It just muses me when other fans (and some media pundit) say we lack ambition. How the fuck do they work that out? The reality of it is that we are the epitome of ambition in how we have progressed in the last 10 years or so. From mid table to upper half to now top 3 regulars. From occasional Europa cup participants to Champion League regulars. All this while building a brand new Stadium increasing match day attendance by more than 25,000. Now breaking our wage structure to accomodate the most sort after Manager in World football and arguably the world's best striker. All this without having to resort to Oil money or American or Chinese billions.

If they equate not winning a trophy as lacking ambition, then they are just showing their jealousy and ignorance. The trophies will come by the way

Opponent fans will always try and find a reason to belittle us, it's what fans do. They are just running out of reasons. If we can keep progressing where will we be in 5 years time?

Hopefully discussing what other fans are saying about us. But probably discussing Kanye West’s tax cut bill and his pardoning of the Dalai Lama

Rumours abound that Messi is about to request a transfer. The prospect of ending his career without having been able to call the Walkers Crisp Bowl his home is simply unbearable to him. Such is the power of this new juggernaut of a stadium, this gift bestowed upon the world of football (both the American and the non-moronic kind) by the mighty Spurs.

Then says its a joke at GlastonSpurs' expense

So where are all these 'be bold and take risks' signings? The only thing I have heard is a link to Aston Villa's Grealish, who is hardly going to take Spurs to the next level and looks more like a business as usual signing for Spurs.

Pochettino probably wishing he didnt sign that contract if Grealish is Spurs 'being bold and taking risks'. Meanwhile Klopp and Liverpool getting their business done.

Fellas.....I get the Ricky Villa thing; the Gore Vidal “it’s not enough to succeed, others must fail” thing; the Spurs hate / ridicule; and the fact that I’m on another club’s message board so shouldn’t expect to see complimentary things written about my club. All totally understandable. And no different to what you’d find on any other club’s message board (other than Rawk, which is an extreme law unto itself).

But I can’t help feeling that some of the posts on here today about Harry Kane are exactly the kind of posts that, 10 years ago, you would have expected and detested from your nearest and dearest neighbours. Perhaps unintentional but they come across as posts by fans who have somehow lost touch with real football and real values.

Mocking a player for showing loyalty to his boyhood club; interpreting his actions as lacking ambition because he hasn’t taken what might just as readily be interpreted as the easy, ready made, less ambitious route of joining one of the giants of the game? It’s surely equally worthy, at least, to believe in and commit to winning major trophies at a club where trophies aren’t a shoo-in?

Especially these days, as fans across the footballing spectrum feel increasingly disengaged from their clubs and the players that represent them, Kane committing to Spurs is more deserving of appreciation than ridicule, I’d have thought.

And the responses are varied, mostly silly, but this stood out
So i sound like a rag and i've lost touch with football and values? we have had lots of players in recent years dedicate their prime years to us like sergio, zabba, vinny, dave, joe, yaya etc but they all experienced life somewhere else and played and learnt their game in different places, kane is a typical english stay at home player,i don't like that but it does not make me a rag like blue or lost touch with loyalty and values so wind that tone in,kane will never win the title with you, when they look back it's trophies they want to see in the cabinet

with no personal insight into the fact they paid over the odds to BUY a winning team, proving Harry Kane's loyualty should be praised

There are a lot of people going off on tangents about racism. I'm not buying some of it and I'm usually one of the people attributing things to racism when others don't.

Let's focus back: the main issue here is that Collymore accused Wright of being an Uncle Tom. That's not only incredibly insulting, it's also unsupportable. Since his retirement, Ian Wright has carefully styled his image as a well-to-do, stylishly-dressed and confident middle-class Black man, without having to crush his spontaneity or his sense of fun. He's managed to look and sound socially-mobile, without abandoning his roots, his personality or his accent.

I'm not sure Stan Collymore is well-placed to tell other Black men what kind of behaviour is acceptable from a Black man in the media. Ian Wright seems at home in himself. Stan Collymore, who is a highly intelligent guy, despite his sometimes erratic behaviour and mental health problems, might want to think hard about why he resents Ian Wright.

As for the person who suggested that mixed race people are "White": pffft! Society and bigotry say otherwise.

Superb post, David. Captured what I tried to say a couple of pages back, but with far more erudition.

Surely Bluemoon must realise that their team are 'legends' ? - They had a chance to clean up and win an unprecedented 'Quadruple' - but they blew out of the FA Cup against Wigan and lost in the CL semi against
the "People's Princesses'

Any normal team including would love to take the title or the FA Cup but with the money thrown at the City team perhaps their success wasn't as good as it should have been ? Maybe another half billion or so being spent will help for 2018/19 ?

Man City fans are morons. They justify their purchase of titles by using their wilderness years as an excuse. Pass me my tiny violin.... Twats.

It does make me chuckle to see how much it touches a nerve when you liken the present-day City fans to their rivals from across Manchester. What is funniest is how when they try to explain how they're still different and somehow superior to the stereotypical Man Utd fans they just end up sounding even more like one another!

So what's the reaction to the alleged £15m bid for Jack Grealish on Villa forums then?

"I imagine if Levy was buying a pack of mints he'd initially hand over half the marked price to the till assistant."

:D
