I don't know Bomber, seems a valid question to me... ?‍♂️

It’s more that it’s a weird hypothetical question to pose. You could ask that about every game ever where there was an injury to a major player (and gone on to win a game).

Out of interest, what do you think Poch would have preferred?

Well, if Dele doesn’t go off, GKN doesn’t come on and the last goal doesn’t happen (certainly not the way it did). So there’s the direct link, although it’s all what ifs and nonsense.

I’m glad for the three points.
I’m not happy for Dele’s injury.
I would guess Poch, and all of us, are the same.

Those Leicester comments are genuinely fascinating. Their whole fan base seems lost, like they don’t know what their identity is anymore. They won the league and are still largely irrelevant, which probably feels worse than being irrelevant but believing you can change that.

They probably hate us simply because we’re still in the conversation whereas their season is over before the end of January.
I think the fact that some of you keep accessing and reading their forum gives them some sort of validation that we are peers.

I really don't get the sentiment from opposing fan and pundit alike that our squad is thin or we have no depth. I mean, we've had injuries all season and we're still reasonably comfortable in third. Obviously it's going to look like you have no depth when everyone is fucking injured.

Because there's a narrative hanging over us due to us not signing any players in the summer therefore people automatically assume that we have no squad depth.

I think the fact that Nkoudou just made such an important contribution to our season confirms that we, in fact, have squad depth.

The current state of affairs:

Lloris Gazzaniga Vorm
Trippier Aurier Walker-Peters
Alderweireld Foyth
Vertonghen Sanchez
Rose Davies
Winks Dier Skipp
Sissoko Wanyama
Eriksen Lamela
Dele Nkoudou
Son Lucas Sterling
Kane Llorente

The only glaring hole is that with just four experienced specialist CMs, having one as Wanyama with his fitness issues is a bit thin.

Plus, at a push, one more attacking midfielder who can also play up-top to cover for Kane.

I think we'll be able to muddle through without that player (we have in the past), but it would make things a lot more comfortable.

That’s an area where I’m torn. Lucas, Son, Dele and Lamela can all do that job to varyng degrees, so the question becomes whether Llorente is necessary, or any target man back up, or do we just invest in another pure AM for Llorente’s spot? It’s a tricky one, but I’d be tempted to stick with a traditional target man as even for the sake of a few moments in the system, it can make a significant different (see Llorente v Barcelona and PSV).
