I find the best way to wind up west ham supporters is to mention the fact that their greatest ever player desperately wanted to leave them to come to Spurs and was denied by their manager. By all accounts he hated the club for that.

That tends to get them going. When I said this to my mate, his 100% genuine reply was ‘but we took Matthew Etherington from you and when he joined he said it was nice to finally play for a big club’.

i would point out to your mate that Matty Etherington was a massive spurs fan growing up :)

I wouldn't point anything out to him.

When west ham fans start all this crap they are either:

1/ trying to wind you up.
2/ delusional.

Getting into debate with them just validates their claims. If someone tried to get into a debate about the fact that he has fairies living at the bottom of his garden you wouldn't bother listening. When they say things like that just smile and ignore them.

Without West Ham there's no laughing on Saturday Nights. I say keep them, I'll help with the Vet bills.

a fellow taxi driver in Hertford always brings up "we won the WC", I reply they don't play a 5 a side WC
funny you should say this. I saw in the paper they are trying to sell tickets for the Burnley game for a quid. And i noticed they have a 1966 executive club! Its got nothing to do with them?? They actually think they won the world up. And have an "executive club named after it. LOLS!!!

Tbf - the amount of spurs fans going on about spurs taking England to the seni’s this summer, we’d have been equally as bad if not worsenof we won it.

yes but we would of contributed from start to finish, Hurst only did the biz in the Final Greaves got us through the groups. our boys had to qualify for the tournament too:whistle:

only Hurst wanted to stay as a Spam player after, Peters joined us, Moore wanted to join us, and eventually went to Fulham, Ball went to Everton and the scum, and don't even know the 5th person as I was only 2 and can't remember watching it.

Eh? Alan Ball never played for West Ham. West Ham had 3 players in the England team in the 1966 final.

Quite a long post from KUMB about our derby and anti-semitism:

According to one poster most of our fans are anti-Semitic...

Always going to be a tough one for any opposing team to get around or avoid until they drop their self given nickname.

It is rightly an offence for any opposition fans to use the Y word yet 50 to 60 thousand home fans are allowed to chant it on a weekly basis with no attempt what so ever from the club to phase it out or move on from it. The pure nature of terrace banta is that fans feed off of each other going back and forth with songs, chants and retorts. It goes without saying that them chanting the Y word is keeping it on the agenda for opposition fans too.

Times have to change. Why cant they sing about being a Lilly White army? Or a Spurs army?
I fully appreciate the stance of them adopting the word to counter and negate antisemitism but I personally feel it is counter productive in this day in age. Why not just phase it out altogether?

I also find it ironic they constantly hide behind this stance given some of the homophobic and racist bile some of theirs have aimed at Sol Campbell over the years. Obviously we have our fair share of idiots, I find myself cringing at our own on a fairly regular basis, but you'd be hard pushed to find any club who doesn't have that element. So why are they allowed to throw stones (or cups of piss) from their glass house and not expect any come back?

Spurs for me are the football equivalent of a wimpy little kid at school who would hang around on the fringes of bigger groups of kids hoping to be included in their games and accepted. They would wind everyone up by being as annoying as possible then spoil it for everyone by running to the teacher to tell tales or accuse people of bullying as soon as it gets a bit much for them.

They are a much better footballing team than us as it stands, have been for over a decade (don't we just know it though) but they are still a London rival and when we play each other it is still a big deal to both sides. Always will be.
The sooner they climb down from their own perceived high horse (which is actually more like a pony in wider footballing terms) and realise this, the sooner we can move on from all this nonsense and just get on with hating each other purely for the fact that we are London rivals.

Since our move to Stratford we are just 6km from Arsenal and 8km from Spurs (they are 6km from each other). It is fantastic to have three clubs in a triangle of such close proximity playing each other on a regular basis and capable of beating each other. Obviously we are very much playing catch up but there is nothing to say that with time and investment we can't get there.

I love London derby games, long may that continue...!

he doesn't really know the history or why we hate them in their racist sense, and obviously doesn't know our hard core (we got burnt coat @riggi 3 days mate)

we actually started singing the "Yid army" chant because of 1st being abused by them and others.

the racist attacks (chants) they use effects millions of people, even 1 of their owners when they start hissing.

they see us as a London rival because we are so close to them in distance, but they are 1 in East London and 2 in football terms are not a rival in history of being a big club. we are 6th richest in the country at the moment, they are 7th but have no history other than being involved in the 1st ever Wembley Final, and very little honours.

the only rivalry we ever had with them was when the battles off the field where at there highest 70's-90's

oh and on the Sol Campbell thing, I bet they would treat any player brought through their youth and left with abuse (Frank Lampard) and they got a fee for him, and saw Chelsea as their most hated at the time (due to competition in the racist stakes), they where renown for abusing Clive Best when he was still wearing their shirt

I agree with a lot of that.
I wish we would drop the y army thing. I get the history and why it was done back in the day but that was a long time ago now and it has not been relevant for a long time

Me too, I don't like it anymore, it was a perfect response at the time but I wish we'd do away with it. I'm sick of explaining it to people who don't get it for a start.

Them being in east London and us north doesn't really mean anything. The majority of fans live in the Home Counties together anyway and London has so many clubs for one city that you can't claim an area to be exclusively full of one support.

It's an odd geography really, they are east London A13 to A12 and we are North London A40 to A12, sounds silly but it is how people move out into the home counties, Walthamstow is east of the Lea but is solid Spurs which also helps to explain why Chelmsford and Braintree are such big Spurs areas, mind you head on out beyond and into Suffolk and we are still big, I say this because I know Chelmsford and the better parts of Essex are important to you Riggi.:)

Bobby Moore never went back to the ground on a personal level after retirement, only as a commentator.
Hi
Sorry to contradict you but Harry Rednapp has often told the story about he and others seeing Bobby Moore being thrown out of UPTON PARK directors box for not having a ticket. This happened when the owner at the time didn't like something Moore had said in the press.
They have always been scum - I wonder when they will turn on Noble?
