It sort of perpetuates it also though... and are we suggesting that every one of those Chelsea/West ham fans are active members of nazi groups? Because i'd say that the chanting, however distasteful, falls into the 'football banter' narrative...

If people really wanted it to stop, for good, It would also need to come from us with our fans dropping it too! In this modern time of cameras at grounds - people would slowly be removed from the grounds and it would ebb away...

In reality, i think both sets of fans (us and them) enjoy it as 'banter' and continue to keep it alive...

Harry said a lot of things.

It is quite well known that Moore hated West Ham for stopping him joining us. Essentially, the 66 World Cup approaching, he went to Ron Greenwood and asked to go to Spurs early as his contract was dwindling. Ron said no, and that if he wanted to go it would have to be as a free agent when his contract expired. Sir Alf was well known to not select out of contract players, so Moore had to choose between going to the World Cup by signing a new West Ham deal or coming to Spurs to partner Mike England. West Ham force him to stay and potentially the greatest ever centre back partnership of all time never happens.
I thought Moore had to sign a contract with West Ham otherwise he wouldn’t be able to play in the World Cup as he wouldn’t be registered as he was out of contract. These were the days when clubs retained the registration of players out of contract.

See my next post on it.

He could equally have been allowed to join spurs and qualify for the World Cup by us holding his registration.

Basically, Ron Greenwood was a ****, West Ham are ****s, and I hope we trample on them this Saturday.

Singing about Hitler and gas chambers is clearly crossing a line.

I don't think it needs to go away. We can sing it, they can't. Simple. If they want to cry about that then good. It pleases me.

If it would stop the racist chants i'd be happy for us no longer to refer to ourselves as yids. Don't think it would though.

If black people stopped calling each other by the n word it wouldn't stop racism in america.

Exactly, there's a reason both words were reclaimed in the first place...because racists used them.
Racism existed then, and to a slightly lesser extent, it exists now.
Stopping using the words won't make a jot of difference to the idiots.

We started calling ourselves yids as a statement against the anti semetic chanting. It wasn't the cause of it.

I didn’t say it was the cause of it and I’m full aware of the history thanks

But 95% of spurs fans are not Jewish the club is not Jewish and the area is no longer populated by many if any Jewish people.
The whole y army thing was to stick up for the local Jewish spurs supporters

I grew up in the Walthamstow area and I would say it’s was split evenly between us/arse/west spam (in mid to late 90s when I lived there).
Now I live in Chelmsford i barely know anyone who is in to football and those that are don’t like support spurs (mainly arse/spammers)

I'm Spurs and in Chelmsford. O'Connors pub in Moulsham always has a pretty decent Spurs turnout for any games being shown on TV.

People seem to be missing the main issue with that fan’s comment... and that is that he thinks we’ve been the better side for a decade.

A fucking decade??

Multiply that by another decade you twatsocket.

Same for me in Harold Wood, surrounded by them. Like a constant bad smell.

Worse 2 games of the season for me, plus an additional 1 this year. My hatred for them is ingrained from many many years. Got a bad feeling we're going to lose Saturday too, sorry.

Thats a vastly different circumstance and issue, really though isn't it?!

Are you suggesting everyone who goes to spurs is jewish?

I grew up in Walthamstow. 70s and 80s. Hardly any of my pals supported any London club apart from Spurs. Knew plenty who supported Liverpool and Manchester United though.

Whilst browsing the Kumb match thread, there's some weirdo who claims to be a Spurs fan posting guff:
Big rivalry, two good footballing sides. Any Spurs fan knows this is a huge game for us and if they know anything about football they will know how difficult the game is going to be. This is a very good West Ham side being developed.

I just hope Spurs mentally realise how hard this will be, I watched West Ham play Everton and look like a top 6 side, then I watched them play Chelsea grind out a good draw with chances to win then I watched them play Man Utd of the park for an hour or so. Even at Brighton Arnautovic should have made it 1-1.

As Spurs fans we may want to think there is a large gap in quality between the teams but I don’t think there is, Arnautovic, Yarmolenko and Anderson have the ability to beat anyone.
I mean what the fuck is that all about?
Fucking arse licker.

Living in China not many Spurs fans near me.
Today I met a new guy in this city and he comes over to me in a coffee shop and introduced himself. He said he'd heard from someone that I liked SOCCER and that he does too.
OK not too many interesting people around here to talk football with so I went with it. He asks who I support and I said TOTTENHAM- he started laughing!
According to him Spurs only have Kane and he's nowhere near as good as SALAH! WTF!
He then stated he is from Cairo and that he used to follow Chelseascum- because Salah used to play for them.
He is the first supporter of a player I have come across to change teams when a player does- I'm going to avoid that coffee shop from now on unless M S really fecks it up- he was unbearable!

One of my mates at middle school supported Watford one season and then Liverpool the next. I asked him how he could swap teams and he said he was a "John Barnes" supporter. No doubt my mate started following Newcastle, Charlton, Celtic and Jamaica then suddenly stopped liking football. Remarkable.
