I have come to the conclusion that no opposition fan, or pundit will actually ever give us proper credit whatever we do (bar maybe one or two like Gary Neville). Damned if we do, damned if we don't. Can only play against the players that manager chose. Not in our control as to who was 'rested'.

They always regurgitate the same old boring lines. No trophies (football didn't start until the Premier League came into existence). DVDs. Best players and manager will leave soon enough. You'll just get knocked out anyway.
Agree completely. BT Sport last night instantly went to the 'can they keep their players'. I mean ffs can we enjoy this result for more than 10mins without you fkers dismantling the squad please?
Heard usual shit again on TS from that prick Seaman this morning, 'Their next CL will be a real test to see where this Spurs team are at' or words to that affect. Every fking game we play they role out that line. We've played Real Madrid, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Juventus, Borussia Dortmund in recent times, wiped the floor with Man United and Chelsea just recently but oh no, we have to 'wait and see where we're at.' I mean who the fk is it we're supposed to be terrified of thats better than that lot?
where as Liverpool are the real deal you know. They got to a CL final you know. Despite every fker forgetting they didnt have to actually play anyone of top quality to get there. Actually Liverpools run and Englands run are 2 of the easiest runs to the latter stages of cup competitions you're ever likely to see. As England fans we recognise that but try telling a Liverpool fan that and they'll get all defensive, deny deny deny and probably go all high pitched lol.
Prick Brazil said 'do they both have to win silverware this year, you know, given the money they've spent' and Seaman went straight to Spurs. Didnt mention thay we've spent fk all and Liverpool spent more than anyone. Nope, just lump us together. Arseholes.
Oohh I could crush a grape (showing my age there).

I know one who's deluded and thinks they're on a par with us......
I really don't get this.

As far as I am aware there has never been a time when anybody with at least a double-digit quantity of brain cells would think that West Ham have been on a par with us. They beat us now and again and they've won the occasional trophy, but I can't remember when they finished above us in the league. I'm sure they must have at some point but I'll bet it's not been more than five times since both clubs were founded.

I can't be arsed to check, but it's probably a pretty good bet that they've only been in the same division with us for about half of their existence - if that. Their traditional habitat is rattling around between the top two divisions.

I thought Liverpool fans were deluded......

There's nothing to get, the bloke's a moron.
Not a bad bloke, but when the conversation is football he talks absolute bollocks...even his own mate, who is also a West Ham fan, gets embarrassed by him.

The problem is we went through a stage where they used to beat us about once per year, and horrifically beat us 3 times one season.
The mind of a simpleton translates this to us being equals, regardless of league positions.
I learnt a long while ago there's no point debating it with him...he can't comprehend logic.

Interesting. Thanks Dinghy.

So they had a purple patch in the 1920s, finishing above us five times, were higher than us once in the eighties (which amazes me) and four times when we were shit in the late nineties. More than I thought, but being higher than us ten times in over a century is hardly a basis for claiming parity. (Whether or not you're a moron:whistle:)

My eyes are bad and admit to not really understanding the graph. Can you please tell us how many times they've finished above us in total. It'll give all vital ammunition.

Twitter has been full of the usual trolls from Arsenal and Chelsea since last night's draw.
.
One jerk spouted the usual 'you never win anything' and haven't since 1999. I politely reminded him
of our valiant victory against Chelsea in the 2008 LC final. He hasn't replied yet.
.
Another smartarse Chelsea fan put up double photo on Twitter - it was the Spurs badge alongside an old empty cupboard with the caption saying something along the lines of 'a famous duo'
The witty chap asked for any contributions of other famous duo's - I sent him my effort ...

Yesterday I had to endure a Wham friend of mine telling me all day how shit we are. How our stadium looks like a toilet bowl. How we've not won any trophies so can't call ourselves a big club. How Barca's kids are going to embarrass us. How our players will leave in the summer.

Seriously, a Hammer. The very night we're about to play Barcelona in the biggest competition going. Months away from moving into an actual football stadium, as opposed to that bullshit athletics ground.

He kept banging on about a participation award being the only thing we'll ever win and when I told him that it's more than they'll ever get for not even turning up, he just says "better not to turn up than look like fools". 4 points off Real Madrid. Beating Dortmund. Drawing at the Nou Camp for qualification to the next round. Knocked out by Juve, a two time finalist in recent years, despite giving it everything and taking it to the wire...

What a bunch of fucking mugs they are.

I had one tell me after the Arse game, that North London is red and we will be lucky to finish 6th or 7th this season. hasn't replied to me since I offered a nice bet that the worst we will finish is 5th. funny thing is his nickname sums it up perfectly "Gobba".

I'm struggling to remember what 'occasional trophies' they've won. The last one I can recall was in 1975 when they beat Fulham in the Cup Final, but then I'm not exactly an afficianado on pikey history..

If the red circle is vertically above the grey circle they finished above us. My eyes aren't the greatest these days either but I make it ten in total. I could be wrong though, so best to do your own research if there's money involved.

I can't be arsed to look it up, but I think they won the cup in the 60s and the Cup Winners Cup the following year. They also won the cup in (I think) 1980, beating the goons with a Trevor Brooking goal. One of those games when you want both teams to lose.

I made it around 27-28 times in 110 years. in that time they have won the FA Cup 4 times, never won the league unless you count winning Div 2, and most of their ventures into Europe are on a pre-season tour
