Sorry, I was on my mobile so didn't really word it very well. I meant clubs in general (rather than us in particular) will never catch up if they are forever giving up their best players to the "elite" clubs. It's one of the reasons I think we are catching up, both on the field and financially.......it's just that short sighted twats like the status quo as long as it also supports their own club.

Really love their music though;)

Kevin Stewart is the only player I can think of in recent times that's gone to Liverpool and he never even played for our first team.

And Nicky Barmby I think...

In a very roundabout way. He had two or three clubs in between, so it's not like we sold him to Liverpool.

i think there have only been two players we have sold directly to Liverpool in the "recent" past- Neil Ruddock and Robbie Keane.

Edit- thankyou @dontcallme , Paul Stewart too.

We've actually probably had more from them- John Scales, Christian Ziege, Ronny Rosenthal and Jamie Redknapp off the top of my head. Oh, and Robbie Keane.

Yeah, under Wenger they did the double twice, were invincible one season etc..Don't get me wrong they've always been ****'s but this current bunch are classless wankers & I'm loving the power shift, we need to back it up with silverwear, but we were off there radar for decades & these days they are the new West Ham, we are so close to rubbing their noses in it , so fucking close & have been for 3-4 years. COYS

Because that would be classy?

Play it cool, Trig, play it cool

Why on earth would anyone leave a job where they were one of the best paid manager in the league and their performances are revered amongst the fan base, they are about to move into one of the best stadiums in the world, they have a team on the brink of great things and the trust of the club and hierarchy, based in one of the most attractive cities in the world?

Leaving now would be completely out of character and against everything he's said for the last 5 years

I think that the game has changed to some degree. The gap between us and utd has closes hugely since fergie left. Not just in terms of profile and performances on the pitch, but also because of money. The Tv deals mean, as Jose said, that the lesser clubs are now extremely wealthy and can afford to hold on to their pride assets.

In addition to this, what do utd really have that we don't? Money and the ability to pay big wages yes. But they have that now as well as one of the best managers of his generation, but where has it got them? Poch has spent 5 years building something, getting his philosophy engrained in young players that would run through walls for him. He would have to start again at utd, so he could rightly ask himself, will I be better off with spurs or utd in 5 years? The answer to that question is no longer as clear cut as it might have been 5 years ago!

For my money, poch won't go anywhere any time soon s there are few clubs in Europe that offer him what we do!

Agree to a certain extent but we have a world wide fan base of 35m. Utd have 680-750m. Doesn't make them better, but they are bigger.

Poch is a proud man, he has shaken on a deal and Levy has apparently let him down by not investing in signings. Once a mental contracts been broken it’s difficult to get over. He left Southampton for the same reason. Various ITK said have said about the difficulties this has created. I just hope what he’s built is enough to keep him but don’t think we can underestimate his own ambition. if he can build a team without financial restrictions and compete with guardiola etc this might be push for him to leave.

This is Conjecture. There's been no proof that Levy broke a deal with Poch on signings. In fact there's also been ITK that states Poch refused the options so I don't think what you say is conclusive. On the contrary, Poch consistently has said how good hid relationship is with Levy. I must be the only person that thinks he'll be our manager in 5 years time.

The situation at Southampton was very different. Poch pinned his colours to the mast and said if the Director goes I go, they got right of the Director and he found the next opportunity out and left.

Agree generally but Poch refused the players offered in the last window because he felt they weren’t good enough, so it’s questionable if he felt truly backed in this aspect of his relationship with Levy.

But in every other aspect their relationship seems completely sound.
