No one is doubting what job he's done or even that this spurs is far better than previous years. However we need to win something for many to relax, all those awful experiences are going to disappear over night. For a lot of us we have never seen spurs win anything of note.

We did win something, in 2008 and the fans still haven't chilled out.

SPOT ON

Exactly what Poch is talking about BUT I reckon for the majority of supporters over about 40 odd we still have this huge negative voice in our heads due to so many past abject performances

That 3-0 at HT at home to Man United is a great example of those days and encapsulated all of those years so well

3-0 up played really well but nearly the entire ground knew that if Man U scored one early in the 2nd half there would only be 1 winner come 90mins

As it turned out Andy Cole did score very early in the 2nd half with a great header and we went on to get annihilated 3-5

That soft underbelly has long gone and we need to keep those demons we're carrying in our closets well and truly locked away
The man city cup game is my favourite 'only f***ing spurs' moment. That was a low in a period of some serious lows!

Unbelievable.

One more for you. Was at Highfield Rd when we were 2-0 up (i think) in OUR Cup! and managed to lose that one quite convincingly in the 2nd half!! Everyone was patting themselves on the back at half time, taking the piss out of Coventry & thinking who we'd get in the next round. Embarrassing

We will win many games and lose a few. That’s football as they say. I just about remember when we won the League Cup under Ramos and it meant nothing and did not paper over the deficiencies we had.

This team, this incarnation of Spurs is different. I remember last season talking to one of the directors on the day of the Wembley derby game and he recounted how at half time last season when we were two nil up to ManU Fergie reminded them of the 3-0 turn around but then said that wasn’t going to happen ... he recognised we are not the same. Can we lose? Sure but I don’t worry about us throwing away a three goal lead to Dortmund. We have been to Barca, Real, Juve, Inter Milan, as well as Dortmund and just lost once by the odd goal

I have only seen the two league cups in my lifetime, however, I can see this team has a never say die mentality about them. I don't connect a 5-3 defeat at WHL to United with this group or manager. They have done more than enough in my eyes to have fans a bit more relaxed these days than in the past.

Was a league cup. Liverpool famed for 12th man have won major trophies for years

I agree with your point and i think you back up my point to a degree in this response.

Yes the league cup 'was only the league cup' but the reason that wasn't a tipping point to bigger things for us was that IMO we didn't have the team belief, squad or a manager like Poch to give us that steel. That team ethic was missing, which has made us a much more formidable team.

Where i think you back up my point is that Liverpool fans (i hate to say it) are often credited as making a difference. In spite of having some hit and miss teams over the years they have won silverware. Not saying this is entirely down to the fans but that belief has to come from somewhere. In our case, i think we need to match the team ethic in our support and become the 12th man more often.

Appreciate that belief is harder to come by than that at Liverpool - a team dominant in the 70s/80s and much better than us in the 90s generally, which carried them to silverware into the 2000's when they were much more hit and miss. They've had far fewer bad spells and embarrassing games. In terms of modern EPL football we've started behind them and are still behind them in terms of global recognition and revenue, yet we're challenging consistently now and barring this season, we've largely outperformed them in recent years. It doesn't take silverware to back the team (while it helps) it takes belief in our team and then backing them wholeheartedly from here on - i'm convinced a change in attitude will help us get trophies, maybe it will take our new stadium for fans collectively to realise this.

Yeah, that was a frustrating team made even more so by the fact that we had 2 world class centre backs in Woodgate and King, who struggled to make it onto the pitch.

It did make me chuckle though, when opposition teams played us only to realise that Woodgate and King would in fact be playing that weekend.

It'd be like making a couple £100m signings in nowadays money, out of the blue 48 hours before match day, in the middle of the season.

You could almost hear the opposition crying "Oh, come on, for the love of Zeus' beard...!!!"

I keep thinking about the time we were 3-0 up against Inter in 2013 after the 1st leg and they scored 3 in the 2nd. Ade scored in extra time meaning they had to score 2 to progress and they nearly managed it before we went through on away goals, 4-4 on aggregate.

Proper spurs match that was

And that’s the San Siro game that I decided to travel to...

Really begs the question why the prem was started so soon after the world cup. Could have put it back 2 weeks.
So true... the premier league could have started later or instead squeezed in a two week winter break to let the players refresh mid-season
