Didn't even need VAR for that one against Chelsea, that was goal line tech that we needed and that too should have come a decade at least earlier than it did.

Yes VAR will take some of the joy and elation out of celebrating goals. But as long as it keeps improving and the rules are clear and consistently applied, fairness will prevail. And that is golden.

You look at boxing and how corrupt that's been. This will stop bad decisions and stop referees trying to give an advantage.

will also mean teams won't be relegated due to bad decisions. Cardiff would be out of the bottom 3 today if VAR was in place

Ajax are the bollocks this season. It's gonna be really tough to get past them. Let's put all this "I'd like to play x in the final" talk away and worry about the semi final first

Will you lot STFU about who we aren’t playing in the final! Your comments will be rammed down you’re throats if we fail to get past Ajax.

Personally I’d like to play Huddersfield in the final, unfortunately that’s not an option.

Does raise the question of how the league would look with VAR - I mean both Liverpool and city have had a huge amount of good fortune (we’ve had some too).

Sooner it comes in, the tighter games will be making it a much more challenging and open league.

the thing is VAR worked last night, a European match, but stick English refs behind the screen and not sure it will make much difference, because the standard of refereeing has got so bad. Mark Hussley said Llorente goal shouldn't of stood, with refs like Mike Riley, Mike Dean or Howard Webb sitting behind a screen, and we are as fucked as normal

From BLUE MOON:

I’m still really pissed off we’re out and we didnt actually lose. The tie is a draw. Fucking pisses me off.

In all seriousness that pretty much typifies why the Sheik Mansour team struggle in Europe. They went from a nothing club straight to the top competition, without really understanding it.

Obviously the manager and players know the drill in Europe, but not as a collective. Throw a bunch of mercenaries together and they can win a normal match easily, but European football requires a very different attitude.

We’ve had years of evolving that familiarity with European games organically. Plus we just seem to be better at learning from our mistakes. The Sheik Mansour team should be buying every available trophy, but they can’t get it to work in the CL.

Anyway, one of the best things about getting to the last 4 is that they hit us with everything they’ve bought, and it wasn’t enough. Just makes victory even sweeter. David v Goliath stuff.

Yes because it's often we get the chance to talk about who we could face in a cl final?

Everyone knows ajax will be hard. Usually i am against getting ahead of ourselves but it has been over 50 years since we were last two games away from the final. Cut us some slack.

They’ll probably win it. They’ve got a young, talented, underrated squad. They’re fearless and technically good. Their best players will probably dominate European football for the next 10 years, wherever they end up in the next couple of windows. Conditions are perfect
...and we have a well-established business relationship with them.

Ajax depend on sales from their academy development squad for their financial stability and even winning the CL would only make a temporary dent in that reality.

I'd rather we play Liverpool, Barcelona were showing signs of how good they were three or fours yearsc ago the other night, another level.

Liverpool we can beat, made them look ordinary second half at Anfield.

I know it'd be shite to lose to them but at the end of the day we've made it to a CL final (if it happens of course, big if)

Best chance to win it would be the Dippers in the final.

Nowhere near the team they used to be, they scored from 2 United errors and admittedly a worldie but by then United's head had dropped, press this team and you expose them.

The only player who is on another level is Messi.

I suppose the benefit of playing Liverpool though is that we know them and know how to play against them but they are a better collective then Barca IMO.

Anyway will stop talking about the potential final opponent before it tempts faith and upsets the SC Gods or something...

Not as good for sure, but I thought they looked better the other night, more zip and intensity.

Either way it'd be a tough final but I think we'd have a decent chance against either but would prefer the Dippers. Messi is just scary.

In fairness i think we talk about who we're going to face in the final every year, except usually we end up getting knocked out by Bayer fucking Leverkusen lol take each game as it comes

Fwiw, if i had to choose, I just couldn't. Pros and cons to both. Liverpool are the easier of the two teams but losing to them would be horrendous, banter wise

Most definitely. A loss to Barca in the final would be acceptable but not if it was Liverpool.

Stop thinking of damage limitation, it holds us as a club back.

Over a 90 minute, one off game who do you fancy us against more? Stop thinking about who it's most acceptable to lose to, bollocks to that kind of negativity. In it to win it!

Back on topic then

Taken from "Blue Moon"

"Gutted. Knew Aguero was offside so not as gutted as I could have been. How have we conceded 3 to Spurs at home"

"Pretty bloody unlucky. Don't feel we deserved to go out there, and don't feel there can be much blame to the players - put in a hell of an effort. The first leg is what lost us this"

"Never forget that Aymeric Laporte single handedly costed you this entire thing by being at fault in not one, not two, but all three Tottenham goals. Goodnight".

"Can't even think right now....but the league has just got x100 more important. Hope Liverpool and Spurs both rot"

"How the fuck can Spurs celebrate that - do they not feel slightly embarrassed! ****s"

"If there was one trophy I wasnt arsed about this was it. Want the other three. And it wasnt handball at all. No where near as gutted as last season against liverpool, two bloody good teams played a good game tonight. No complaints"

"Fucking spuds in a CL final before us. Unbelievable. They’ll beat Ajax easily over two legs"

"Absolutely gutted, especially after thinking we'd won it. But the team gave everything. Yes we made mistakes but just have to go with that. Credit to spurs though they came out in first half with intent to score and did, then defended for their lives"

"Starting to worry that it's been 10 mins since it ended and heart rate still hasn't come back to a normal , is this normal"
