I get sick of Chelsea fans saying 'what have you won recently'. Why does it have to be recently? Those pricks forget that football actually began pre-abramovich! Our history is so much richer than their fake ass bullshit history.

Just ask the twats what chelsea won before they won the lottery!???

Andy Robertson only joined in 2017 from Hull. What I'm saying about Liverpool is they used to bring those type players through the youth system.
Now Liverpool rely on spending big to improve their team. We genuinely look inside. Look at us, Kane, Winks, Rose (bought at 16), KWP and Skipp through the system. Punts on young hungry players with Dier, Sanchez, Alli.

Their youth system has been pretty much useless cos they kept signing anyone and everyone. TAA is actually Liverpool made. But since Gerard, Carragher, Owen, Fowler and mcmanaman, is been nothing. Their philosophy has changed to buy in players
Jon Flanagan perhaps haha. I once had a guy a work, typical Liverpool fan from London, telling me that Flanagan was better than Walker...

...but the whole of football is infected with this kind of thinking, including a lot of SC members. They have this concept that there is some kind of indelible "character" to a club that persists through decades, despite the ownership, the stadium, the players and the entire staff changing multiple times.

Fans of all clubs constantly refer to their "tradition", as if the successes of yesteryear have any causal bearing on the present. They don't, it's purely delusional.

There are clubs that serially underachieve, Newcastle being the obvious example, but that's attributable to the continuity of bad ownership and management over a long period. It isn't a mystical quality that is attached permanently to the club, any more than Tottenham are fated to remain "Spursy" in perpetuity. Nor do Arsenal merely have to show up to win because of what they achieved in the 30s and 00s.

This is a lesson that Man Utd fans have learned the hard way since Ferguson retired. It's a lesson that Liverpool fans should have learned 25-30 years ago. And it's something they know all about in Sheffield.

It's yet another version, well-camouflaged in this case, of the gambler's fallacy: the notion that past random (or in this case, unconnected) events affect present and future random events.
Spot on. It's what irritates me when they trot out stats like "Team X have won the last four against Team Y, so that should stand them in good stead" or somesuch bollocks. Especially egregious when Team Y are a recently promoted team that hasn't actually had the opportunity to face Team X in countless years or even decades. Gets right up my nose!

2 sent off for Spuds , no Son or Foyth plus a tough Champions lge game.

I think we could get a result there yanno.

We've gotta try to end our big six away hoodoo here, we won't get a better chance to go away and beat Spurs you don't feel. They've now lost 13 league games, they are a very vulnerable team right now.

WOW! Come on you blues.
I honestly thought our season was all but over.
Hadn't realised we were still in with a shout of the 'only team outside of the top 6 with double digit positive goal difference' trophy.:celebrate:
Spuds 0 Blues 6

Do not know if clubs speak to each other but perhaps we should give them the draw they need if they leave Gomes out of their future plans. I think that Champions League is more important than any one player. Or perhaps we should go there win 3. O and show Gomes that the Blues will give him a better future than he would have at Spurs.

Monday at 5:27 PM

That's the trophy everyone wants to win, the open top bus has been ordered and it's route will start at Bramley Moore pass Goodison then to Watford and West Ham and ending in Wolverhampton and we can all laugh and say you may have finished above us but we have double digit goal difference. If I'm not mistaking we finished 4th with a GD of -1 in 05.

We must not injure them. Don't even tackle them, just use words to try and dispossess them.

Just target Trippier imo

listening to Spurs fans on talksport, there less annoying than kopites.

Kopites kept ringing in saying this Liverpool team will be the greatest team that ever lived, and other nonsense like that. Spurs fans are actually discussing the game.

No tackling. In fact, the team should be made to take their studs out or play in slippers.

For me, no. I'm proud of this club for being one of very few self sustaining clubs trying to compete at the top. If we become a play thing for a billionaire, we're just another Chelsea or City. Winning the league cup or europa league self sustained will always mean so much more than city doing a double.

But maybe I'm in the minority.

From the ratings this is obviously a very popular sentiment, but you're honestly telling me you'd be happy to be an also ran, just to have some kind of fictitious moral high ground.
Really??
Winning the league cup, would give you as much joy as winning the league?

Some of Liverpool fans are annoyed because, they thought they will be the media darlings from now till the finals. Now, we have decisively stolen their thunder of having made the final against all odds...they are super pissed.

Except for Chelsea,Arse & WestHam, we will have the entire nation support against Liverpool, thats for sure...
...and Leicester

Their “philosophy” seems to be about building a team that can win. I’d take that philosophy all day long. More importantly given recent comments it seems Poch also would.

You can if you like pick holes in the “philosophy” of Chelsea and more recently City but you really can’t pick holes in Liverpool. They have traded players over the last few years way better than we have. I think in part this is due to us not being willing to sell any of our more important players so as to ditch the tag of being a selling club and in part because our recruitment has in the main been shocking.

Personally I wouldn’t even pick holes in the philosophy of Chelsea or City. It is lazy to suggest they are cash sink holes when in fact their operating performance suggests otherwise. If Abramovich sells Chelsea he will make a profit, not exactly consistent with it being a play thing. It also seems to have gone under the radar that City’s owner sold a minority stake in the group of City clubs worldwide to the Chinese that recouped a huge chunk of their spend. Both of their motivations may have started out as non-commercial but they have both morphed into very powerful commercial operations.

Yeah even worse is team X haven't won at team Y for 50 years when they only played each other there like 3 times in those 50 years

Now Liverpool rely on spending big to improve their team.... We take punts on young hungry players with Dier, Sanchez, Alli.

Robertson was £8m when they bought him having just been promoted from the championship, the kind of player a few seasons ago we were buying.

Sanchez was 35m, our most expensive player ever, and had just been a runner up in a Europa League final.

Both were bought the same summer so neither of these really matches the point you’re making.

I get sick of our fans looking down their noses at Chelsea for not having history.
Everything they've won in the last 20 years is now a part of their history. And they've now won much more than we have.

Think that misses the point that all their history was bought by a Russian Oligarch that stole all his wealth - history and trophies but I will happily keep looking down at them thanks!

Awful club Top to bottom

It is easy to preach this standing on our pedestal.

We have been forced to rise through the ranks with limited spending because we have not had the wealth available to us.

Yes people can say that Joe Lewis has billions and is the x richest man in the world but he has chosen not to spend it, and he is the owner and that is his prerogative.

How many people here would have been made up if Abramovich had decided to plough his millions into us rather than the scum down the road 16 years ago.

We cry out for major signings every transfer window, we moan when we don't make these signings because they are not within our budget.

We scream that we are losing out because as a club we are not spending gazillions improving our squad, yet we ridicule clubs who spend more than us stating that it is not the right way.

Yes we have overachieved massively considering our spending.

But if we had the choice to continue how we are, or get a buyer who was willing to spend whatever it took to really challenge with the elite on a regular basis, I think most of us would choose the latter.

A lot of fans would be happy with a wealthy backer and I would have loved it if Joe Lewis has spent more of his own cash but I hope most would examine and care where the buyers underlying wealth came from and their ethics -that’s my issue with Abramovic and the City owners
