Going on other fans’ forums isn’t something I’d do personally as I have no interest, but if every forum nominated one person via a poll titled ‘who could represent their club the best out of thousands of other losers’ then I’d be happy for Spurs to be represented by that v̶i̶r̶g̶i̶n̶ person.

I’m happy for people who are knowledgeable about Spurs putting people right in a friendly manner on other boards, without anger or arrogance.

That's pretty much what I do on Newcastle-Online :).

I'm not totally sure why I first went on there (I've been posting there for over a decade) but I do have a lot of connections with Newcastle. It's a great site with a really good Chat section too. I moved to the US ten years ago and do a lot of posting on their NFL/US Politics/MLB etc threads.

I think there are a couple of reasons why people hang out on other teams' boards as well as on here. Apart from the obvious trolling and opportunistic schadenfreude, it can just be refreshing to hear other viewpoints. I think there's value in having a savvy representative with other fans to - like you say - defend Spurs, point out where people are wrong about us in a respectful way. You have to have enough wits about you to know how far to push things, and enough humour to take the stick. That said, I have no time to hang out on more than one extra board, and only really go on the Arse/RAWK etc boards to lurk when they are losing their shit. I have no particular interest in hanging out on another team's board if things are actually going well for them ;). Might be one reason why I've been hanging out on a Newcastle board.

Most boards run by adults have room for a few opposing fans. Any trolls get sniffed out sharpish, and there are a handful of long-time posters on Newcastle-Online - one guy from Villa, another couple from Everton, one Man U guy. The ones that last tend to be a bit older I think, and play by the rules above. It can be fun watching oppo fans start respectful then gradually let their mask slip - it's almost always Sunderland fans on there.

?No one trolls like Glaston?
I think Galston, whilst a little cringy, does a fantastic trolling job......... And what makes it better is that a lot of it has come true over the long term and the man Utd fans really have no reply. They use to see him as a clown and belittle his opinion at every occurrence, but now I get the feeling that, whilst they have the odd dig, they really don't know how to react to him - it's very amusing long as you don't take it seriously.

RE: Arsehole bandits on Saliba

Tottenham with a higher bid.

Kill me now.

**** this ****ing football team.

i dont get it Sp**s weren't even in the race few days Mohamed said the deal is done now he saying we yet to agree the few details.

Everyone is speaking pure BS. i'm just tired of this transfer window hope it get closed tomorrow.

If Sp**s rumors are true we can only blame our selves.

If they nick this guy off us along with us not signing a single first team player then that is the final nail in the coffin for me

Icing on the cake to what has been yet another fantastic week. This is what we get for being so horrifically slow at concluding transfers.

I suppose we can always hope the player himself prefers us.

Reckon I was Hitler in a past life.

Is there anything this club can't do to not piss you off? even if deal is done? it's just Bonuses ffs it not even going to get paid that quick depend on player and the club successes

I literally don't get what's wrong with us? I might have to switch off from it all until the start of August its absolutely draining being a supporter of this club.

Or it's just his agent trying to be bit of c**t and want more money? i honestly just don't know anymore because Sp**s weren't in race if they were and ready to buy they could have done it by now.

Well this would be sh*tty icing on a sh*tty cake.

so with our club now you can't even trust them even when deal is done. Amazing.

I hate my life.

Have to admit though, the timing from Tottenham is on point. Even if we end up with him the fact that they've chosen this point to do it is a touch of genius, right after the Koscielny nonsense, sets of the entire fanbase and puts immense pressure on Arsenal. On top of that it means we'll have to improve our offer and potentially ****s our budget even more. Absolute piss take

This could've been the one saving grace for our defence for years to come.

If he goes to Sp**s this club should just fold, so embarrassing to see how far we have fallen.

get hijacked when we worked so hard to get deal done is annoying enough but Sp**s doing it will be really annoying.

I hope he does go Sp**s. He’s a winner, Arsenal don’t deserve him.

The Edu effect.

Wanker.

We need to get this done just for the pr.. Would be an awful look to lose him to Sp**s.. Just pay up.

If it really is 30m euro up front from Sp**s we cant match that, he's a Sp**s player.

Laughing out loud here .

Imagine being shafted by Sp**s on a deal you've been working for the past month. Unreal scenes happening atm, historical times.

Not sure why people are giving the club a hard time. No matter when we reached the agreement with St Etienne, after one week or 3 weeks, Sp**s would still have jumped in. They just wait for us to identify targets sometimes and just try to stop us from getting them.

This is down to the player. If he wants to join Sp**s, then why would you want him anyway? I want players who want to play for the club. If they genuinely want to play for Sp**s then I couldn't care less.

so a new stadium cost 3 times over original budget...broke their transfer record and now offering another sum thats equivalent to almost our entire budget.... the 5th richest club in the world ....

something is wrong with this club.... very wrong... and its rooted deep within...

get Saliba to watch some Sol Campbell videos. hopefully he'll chose us this is our last hope.

Some translated views from Atleti fans on Trippier:

I think he's a great signing. He has a right foot that is a glove. In Tottenham has given a whopping 67 goals assists. I do not think there is a side that has given so many goal passes. And removing the faults and corners is a portent. Let's see if Simeone teaches him how to defend better, which is where he loses the most.I think he's a great signing. It is clear that their centers and their strike at set pieces can come very well. If it is confirmed also James we will improve a lot in that aspect this season.

It seems that this season the level fell a lot, we hope to see his best version again in our club.

When it sounded I did not believe it because the English barely leave their island, but after 90 years we have an Englishman in our ranks.
When we play in Mallorca we must give him a room without a balcony.
:ROFLMAO:

If it has left by the 22 million that Mundo Deportivo comments is a very tight price signing, well below its market value.

:ROFLMAO:
I pity the guy who thinks Tripps has made 67 assists for us when it's his career total and most of those were for Burnley in the Championship...

He has 24 in his four seasons with us, so six a season, which isn't bad for a full back but a far cry from 67.
