No one really likes us because we aren't the same as them.

Liverpool and UTD are the old money brigade; they've got more history than everyone else and turn their noses up at the rest. Nobody can take away their history, they know it and have that air of invincibility about them. Sure Liverpool flirted with the commoners for a bit, but it was charity work.

Then there are the new money clubs; City and Chelsea have bought their way into the elite and despite the old money clubs finding it all so gauche, they can't argue with the results that have been achieved. Then there is Arsenal, the once well to do family who had connections to the top. They've fallen on hard times but are still respected for what they once were and what their kindly grandfather brought to the party.

We are none of the above. We are born of common stock, working hard to make our way up to the top table. We've still got mud on our boots and my how they hate it. Lord Neville of Manchester still remembers when he could laugh at our house and watch as we'd scrabble through the dirt chasing the farthing Neville tossed from his carriage.

The lot of them are desperate to see us fall to pieces. They comment on our European exploits, bless us for making it to the continent after so long. Did we try the local produce? They congratulate us on failing as it helps to cement in their mind that we are after all of lower standing no matter how we are trending.

As for the rest. They look on with hate and envy. How dare we rise above our station? We should be back with them in the cheap seats bemoaning the nobility and the futility of life, not trying to make a go of it ourselves.
The best Thomas Hardy novel ever.

If they don't like us because we are better than we used to be they are really going to hate us over the next few years. After completing the stadium we went out and bought all the players our manager asked for in this window so perhaps they ought to be scared.

In buying Ndombele and Lo Celso we've done exactly what Liverpool did when they bought VVD and Allison. There were 2 glaring weaknesses in their lineup which everybody could plainly see and they addressed them. Without Winks last season our CM lacked creativity, but not any more.

Experienced my first bit of in person dislike of Spurs on Saturday. Was in my local watching the game and the new barman was loudly cheering for Villa at every opportunity. Started asking him how he was enjoying them being back in the Premier League, and he just said he wasn’t a Villa fan, he just ‘f*cking hates Spurs’.
Asked him why, and he said he didn’t really follow football, but that our players seemed like dicks.
Didn’t understand it personally, but was the first time I’d met someone being so anti-Spurs in person.

Maybe that’s what it’s like in the states but I have friends who support many clubs and attend those clubs matches, and apart from the other London sides I don’t experience any particular antipathy towards us. Even clubs like Bournemouth, Newcastle, Leeds, Villa, Derby, as well as, of course, the two Manchester clubs and Liverpool clubs, and on the whole there’s no massive ill will towards us compared to other clubs. Many are in fact very complimentary due to our England internationals, usually good football and lack of financial doping. I’ve only experienced particularly consistent anti Spurs feeling from Arsenal, Chelsea and West Ham fans, and oddly, Southampton.

Real life people aren’t like the loud minority who go overboard on message boards.

I take it when asked why you were abusing the new bar staff you replied "he just seems like a dick..."?

There's a Spurs fan on there called SquishyMcSquish, fucking hell talk about the anti Glaston, over compensates with negativity, his posts are so draining lol

Yeah that guy is an absolute douche. Him and Glaston are single handedly making football fans on the internet absolutely hate us.

I have actually, 1999, FA cup last 16, 1-1, Sherwood scored our goal, Ginola played a blinder in the return leg scoring an absolute belter, as did Anderton.

My point wasn’t to do with whether or not other teams fans are anti semetic, or the volatility of their treatment of us as away fans, it was only to do with their dislike of us as compared to other clubs, and I stand by it, only Chelsea, Arsenal and West Ham in my experience hold is in disdain that is comparatively worse. As foul as those Leeds fans behaviour is, I guarantee you that they dislike, as a club, Manchester Utd, both Sheffields, Huddersfield more recently, and from the South Chelsea and Millwall (and of course Galatasaray) far more than Spurs.

Was at that match too and it wasn’t just the anti Semitic chanting there was a general dislike towards us probably to do with the north south thing.
Had a discussion with a Leeds Moran before that match where he referred us to cockneys wankers and I pointed out that Tottenham was north London not east London, his reply was you are all cockney wankers. We then started calling them scousers because they are all northerners so what’s the difference? Which he didn’t take to well ?

I've no problem with the Liverpool model. 20 months ago when they bought VVD I said they "smelled of ambition" and was roasted for that view. At that stage we had a superior squad and were finishing comfortably above them. They've gone on to win two trophies.

We finally in our stadium and have invested in some players and hopefully the points gap won't be as large this season. I don't believe we need to spend vast sums of money we just need to build on what we did this season on player incomings in the next 2 transfer windows. Obviously looking at opportunity signings in January and replacing Eriksen if he does not stay.

thank god they never won the community shield or that would of been 3 trophies:cautious:

the hate with Leeds goes back to when hooligans was at there peak. I can't remember the exact year and think it was a cup game in the 80's a battle broke out in Park Lane, unfortunately 1 Leeds fan failed to return home. Someone I used to go with regular in those days used to be friends with the Spurs fan that was charged with the death. a lot of hate that comes from the older generations of supporters is because of trouble caused in the days of crowd trouble

What forum? Where? If someone’s stealing my schtick, i deserve credit.

Oh and sometimes im positive. Like now when I say we will win a trophy this season.

trouble is that positivity usually disappears in the 1st 5 mins of a cup match, in the match day thread:ROFLMAO:

I'm not sure Leeds fans are known for liking anybody so I wouldn't take it personally.

It must gall them that, even for all their success down the years, we did it all first.

Doubt most of their fans are even aware of our history from over 40 years ago.
Yeah, it's like bigging up Preston North End because they won Division One before Man U.
I don't know if this is factually correct, but you get my gist.

Also doesn't understand that of that $6bn, $1.5bn is spurs and $4bn is his other businesses. He doesn't have it in cash unless he sells everything (abramovich sold sibneft).

I'm also pretty sure his kids wouldn't want him spending £2bn of their inheritance :ROFLMAO:
