This may be blasphemous for a Spurs fan but I have a bad feeling West Ham will finish above us this season. I really could see them taking 5th this year...they were on there way to that until their front line got decimated by injuries, now they have some better players and most of all a better manager.

I won't give you any negative feedback on this post, I kinda like a post that differs from the norm somewhat.

I honestly can't see West Ham finishing in the top 5, but I do see them finishing higher up the field than recent years, I'd go with a Swansea/Southampton battle, could keep us running close, but I honestly cannot see them finishing above us or liverpool this year, let along the top four.

Also agree that I quite like Bilic as a manager, seemed to do alright at international level.

And it's worth pointing out that we've struggle with those pre-season competitive qualifying matches previously, and only just scraped past teams that could be deemed minnows... it doesn't really have a bearing on how a team will perform come the rest of the season.

Chelsea lost of New York the other night - they will be challenging the title without a doubt.

I think West Ham will be an interesting one to watch. New manager and some strong signings. It's all about how the new players adapt and if the manager can impose his style on them. Doubt they'll be challenging for 5th, btu wouldn't be surprised to see them nipping around the 7/8th area. Equally wouldn't be surprised to see them in the bottom half calling for the managers head :p

I don't think West Ham will make any notable strides forward this season as it will be very much a year of transition (lots of new signings, new manager, 3 games a week reducing time on the training pitch). However, Swansea and, in particular, Stoke could be very competitive this season. They won't challenge for Top 4 but I can envisage them emulating Southampton's relative success last season and being in/around the top 6.

West Ham and Southampton are going to have a bit of a shock with the European games. We struggle consistently, Everton got it brutally bad last year... Southampton will be tired, very tired, especially with the sort of high energy football they play.

Neither team have the luxury that we do of resting near enough our entire starting 11.

Southampton I think will finish 9/8...

West Ham will do will to get above 12th I think.

It's not just the tiredness. It's now you don't get an entire week for the coaches and players to prepare for your upcoming PL opponent. Now it's more like two days.

Let's also not forget that even though Man U are bringing in a lot of proven quality they too didn't have a European competition to contend with last year.

Chelsea lost to the New York Red Bulls' reserve team. Just saying. We had a 16 year old playing central midfield. They had no business giving up four goals in that game.

Thanks. I'm not expecting agree ratings when I say I think West Ham could possibly finish better than us, but it's nice when people are open to thinking about things that may not go 100% with their opinion.

And agree 100% with you here...for fucks sake, I don't know how people here can slate WHU for struggling yesterday with some of the absolute shite we've festered together in the early rounds of Europe.

To be fair we have never struggled with a side as poor as the one who finished 3rd in Malta! I had a spammer bring up Young Boys today. The same Young Boys who we beat in a champs league qualifier, convincingly and who have a decent pedigree. Bless

Bilic will do well to finish top half. I cannot see an obvious improvement in their first XI. Everton and Stoke are the ones to look out for if we are looking below us. Personally I prefer to look upwards and not worry about teams that finished a way off us last season:D

The 'surprise' package next season could well be Palace anyway! Solid, grafters, very lively upfront and a real touch of class in Cabaye pulling the strings. They'll finish above West Ham ( like last season ) as it stands imo

Except we haven't really, you have to go back to 2008 when we had a tight result qualifying for the europa/uefa cup and even then it was against the Polish champions

In the qualifiers we havent struggled(as opposed to the group stage) especially against the third best team in Malta

No chance of Clasie being better than Schneiderlin, it's not just Schneiderlin's passing which is excellent, it's his defensive work and good physicality. Clasie is a good passer and decent work rate, but not in the same class.
