I hope it's just that this bod doesn't realise how goo Dembélé was last season, and how important he now is to us.

I think that's the case really, I don't think some realise how important he was to us last season. Even saw an Arsenal fan saying that with us signing Wanyama, Dier or Dembele would probably be leaving...

Nah that's just their wishful thinking.:)

Some good reports coming from those Southampton fans, I like what I'm hearing.

I'm thinking that Wanyama might just free up Dier to be a bit more of a deep lying playmaker. He seems to love threading those balls through the channels and has shown, both for us and England, that he has an eye for a pass. Wanyama might give Dier that time to pick the pass or to push forward into the pockets of space available when our fullbacks turn the defence.

I can't say I'm overawed at Wanyama, but if it allows Dier more license to express himself then it would be a very smart acquisition indeed. Add Dembele and you have 3 midfielders who all complement each other really, but I think Dier would benefit the most.

I just said the same thing (Wanyama can do the wrecking & Dier can pick up the scraps and spray the ball around) on another thread. Dier's passing was on another level last night, whether 40 yards or an intricate 10 yard 'lofted' pass over the packed defence, he pretty much never missed his target.

I'm waiting for the "not a chance brigade" to tell us that Dier doesn't have that in his game. You know, the same ones that stated moving him to DM was madness.

I see a lot of Dave Mackay in Dier. Tenacity, strength (both physically and mentally), poise and oodles of talent. He's a natural leader too (see him take the ball off Cahill against Slovakia then tell him where to move?) and will be the next England Captain IMHO.

Wanyama may just be the perfect foil for him in certain games. Interchanging with Dembele allows us a number of play options.

I have a Gooner at work (they won't let me get rid of him) who said Englands problem last night was they had too many boring (no its not Spursking), players with no flair, like Eric Dier.......................

Let that sink in...............

I pointed out that he was doing a playmaker role and made two great chances for Sturridge who just wasn't fit enough to take them.

Funnily enough he had no answer.

Lol. The stupid thing is, Dier was only having to make play due to the fact that Wilshere completely disappeared after he'd passed the ball to Slovakia a few times.

Did you point out to him how embarrassingly bad Wilshere was?

For me last night was bad enough when i saw the team sheet. Then you get the commentator spouting...Henderson/Wheelchair are looking to deliver a cross/pass/free kick.......none of which were delivered. I can order a bloody pizza and it will get delivered in 30 mins or i get my money back!!

If it wasn't those two then it was how well Lallana carries out his pressing, synonymous with Klopp and Liverpool....YAWN!!!...

From Foxes Talk:

"Nice one, too many faces, not enough eggs." ...erm, wut?

"That was the closest Wenger will get to a Premier League winner's medal for the rest of his career."

"Looks like Jamie's voted remain."

"Brilliant news, Arse mania will be in meltdown." ...well, no, i doubt they will, even if the fans really wanted him.

"Wish I never burnt that Vardy shirt now ffs"
  • "You think that's bad? I must have sent Vardy about 100 death threats over the past three weeks. It's going to be so awkward supporting him, next season"

"Can't wait to see a 34 year old Vardy with no pace...

"

"Who wants to play for a manager who spends most time sitting on the bench fiddling with his zip anyway, when you have Ranieri who gives you Pizza, was never in doubt tbh."

Think this is probably referring to the many posters on there who were calling him a wanker (and worse) for leaving.

ah, yes, makes sense now - you put it into context for me, i get stuck thinking every weird thing they say is in reference to something mental Ranieri has said, like the dilly-ding dilly-dong stuff (y)
