Generally agree. Posted this on another thread:

I wonder how many of the current squad we would need to retain. For me the following have to be replaced to take us to the next level:
1. Vorm (and Lloris needs a really good challenger. I thought Gazzaniga looked good);
2. Rose
3. Davies
4. Lamela
5. Dembele
6. Toby (if we cant get his contract sorted)
7. Sissoko
8. Llorente
9. Onomah
10. Janssen
11. JK Nkoudou
12. Carter Vickers

Thoughts?
-I totally agree on Vorm, I think the club were already planning for life without him when they purchased Gazzaniga.
-Hopefully we will sign Sessegnon and that will take care of Rose and Davies (though I would also like to see Keanan Bennetts get a look at LB/LWB in the preseason as he has been excellent for our youth teams and can play other positions as well)
-I would give Onomah and CCV another preseason before making a decision on their futures
-Lamela should stay, if nothing else he is a good squad player for us and gives us depth
-Llorente must be shipped out, and I think we should promote Reo Griffiths or Kazaiah Sterling to the 1st team. No more wasting time and money on more players like Llorente, Janssen, Soldado, N'Jie etc...

My worry with Poch is if he is having doubts whether or not he can win something for us himself. When United got that second it was a look of resignation over his face, I haven't ever really see him react like that before. Did he even believe that the players could turn it around??

Or maybe it was a look of resignation with the set of players? Maybe it was a moment of realisation that some of these players can't get us over the line and in that moment he realised that the game was up for some of them.

There's a few ways to read his words and reactions yesterday, let's see what the coming months bring as we should understand how he feels about everything. Like people have said, he's a humble guy, so he's probably looked at himself numerous times and this may be the first time he's ever had doubts publicly. Hopefully we secure top 4, he takes a little break and comes back uber determined and confident.
Like the majority of the fans he was or is hurting and maybe he does have doubts about himself or some of the player's, but for now he just needs to secure CL again for next year and recharge the batteries go again next year with a much energised and Improved squad.

Poch is ours. We love him and he loves Spurs. At this point we for sure just need to focus on securing top 4 this season, or we will no doubt have big issues throughout the club. If we can do that, we have to back him in the transfer market and see how we can perform next season.

You should delete that post of yours, in the interest of being ridiculed.

:wideyed:

Haha fair shout. Correct me if I'm wrong, and as unreasonable as it may be, there has been reports that Zidane's job could be in danger, hasn't there? In reference to "Real's subpar domestic performance this year".. I'm sure this will all change when they win the CL of course.

or is it my statement that Poch would be interested in Real /Real would consider Poch that is ridiculous?

My wife made an interesting point yesterday during the game when spurs 2-1 down, she said even the spurs fans don't believe they can win this game because they were not cheering/inspiring the team on. I don't know if it's all media driven shite and our club is starting to believe its inferior to the sky 4, but I don't recall this attitude in the 80's or 90's?

What is bothering me are Poch's comments about the project going on with someone else. Now we can speculate what he means, but I can only think it is one of three things. He feels he has come as far as he can without financial investment and is sending a "spend or I'm off message" to Levy. He has had his heard turned or he fears that if he doesn't start wining trophies he's going to be sacked. None of these are good to my mind.

The way I read his comments is that he is saying its going to take four years to get Spurs into a winning mentality team, his contract expires in 2021 that's only three years so if Levy doesn't renew his contract then someone else will take over in 2021 to fulfill the work done. I have every confidence that Poch will be at the helm next season taking us into another Champions League adventure, why would any other major club want a manager who hasn't won anything and can't protect a winning position in major games. The only way he might be off is if we don't finish top 4 so starting with Watford we need 3 points badly .

Some fans from other clubs can whip themselves into a lather and it has nothing to do with the flow of the game - they are just entertaining themselves. I'm not sure how that motivates the players as it has nothing to do with them really.

Anyway MP should not be talking about/starting rumour. After all, that is his number 1 rule. Let the season finish first.

I agree with this. With the game at 2-1 and a chance of extra time and pens people were still leaving the ground early. The support up to their 2nd goal was good but after it was really poor. A bit like Juventus at home as well.

Whole heartedly agree. Let’s not slag our players off but most of the aforementioned group are simply not good enough. The worrying thing is the net cost in money to replace the players mentioned. Our squad was not good enough with them so to replace these 12 would be mission impossible for Mr Levy.

It’s just difficult to take when we all know that we have already convincingly beaten Man U and Chelski this season. So there’s no reason why we couldn’t have won this cup. The team just let us and themselves down on the day. They bottled it again.

Yes but while poch will be on a lot of clubs radars I think Madrid would normally opt for a proven track record of success, this is where poch falls a bit short because he hasn't won anything to date.

Zidane had only managed the Real Madrid kids before getting the senior job. So you’re talking bollocks.

Zidane was one of their greatest players to have played for them and so was a darling of the club which is probably why he got the gig now jog on you numpty.

I interpret Mauricio's words as him being totally frustrated, particularly after we took the lead, that we lost to a side we had already beaten at Wembley. Similar situation as the Juve game where we let slip a winning situation due to lack of experience regarding gamesmanship and the darker arts of the game. Naivety.
I'm sure he will continue as he would dearly love to lead us to glory in the new stadium however the subtle message of more investment (and before the world cup takes place) has been made, now let's see how Levy responds.

No. They hired him because they sacked Benetiz mid-season and there wasn’t anyone to replace him. Just so happens he managed to win the CL.

You can’t define success just on trophies. Every club Poch has managed, he’s improved. If he takes over at Madrid he’d surpass Zidane’s achievements easily.

And bless, you called me a numpty ? grow up!

In the 80's and beginning of the 90's we regularly won trophies. We had not gone on a run of seven fa cup semi finals lost and spursy was not a term.
