EVERY club is a selling club.

Man Utd sold Ronaldo to Real Madrid
Liverpool sold players to Barca, City
Barca sold Neymar to PSG
Spurs sold players to Real Madrid
Arsenal sold players to City, Utd
Chelsea sold players to Atletico, Utd

The only teams I feel like haven't really been selling is City and PSG and that's only really cos they have so much more money than anyone else but make no mistake, Real Madrid apparently want Neymar and City will eventually lose players as well.

Players hold the cards. If they kick up enough of a stink and decide they want to go then eventually the club has to let them go.

I agree that the media seem to have an obsession with us selling our best players but it's only cos we have some absolutely brilliant players and the media love a big money transfer. It's a boring, repetitive story but it will continue for a long time, at least until we win something and ya know what, even if we won the Champions League this season, first thing the media would do is say well, Real Madrid and PSG are surely going to come in hard for Pochettino now.

There's no escaping it kids, all you can do is try to ignore it.

Just stop it.

Did you actually bother to read any of those links first?

Two of them are just pointing out they've brought in a lot of money from sales i.e. selling off chaff like Benteke for nearly £30m. Hardly the same thing.

The only article actually putting forward the sentiment of Liverpool being forced to sell their best players to bigger clubs because they're not successful enough was written by an Everton fan.

As for 'Don't Call Liverpool a Selling Club' from Anfield Index... well, you probably should have cropped your screenshot.

This reminds me that I saw a salty letter from a Liverpool fan this week which appeared to suggest we only ever win games by a goal or two. I know rival fans have selective memories but that’s ridiculous given how many wallopings we’ve doled out in the past 2 and a half seasons.

2016/17 season, EPL goals scored:

Spurs 86
Chelsea 85
Man C 80
Liverpool 78
Arsenal 77
Man U 54

2015/16 season, EPL goals scored:

Man C 71
Spurs 69
Arsenal 65
Liverpool 63
Chelsea 59
Man U 49

All you have to do is search each teams “newsnow” page and you will see the difference between us and the other top six clubs, normally every single article about us is basically about how we need a trophy or how our players are going to be sold.

For the majority of years we haven't had players good enough to go to better teams, I see your point though, we're no more than a selling club than others, the whole selling club narrative is lazy and doesn't tell the full story of a club without context.

Soccer Saturday idiots were discussing Dembele and Alderweireld today. Charlie Nicholas is a moron, said that if Pochettino rated Dembele so highly then how come he didn’t play him that often. No mention that only reason he doesn’t start is because of fitness issues.

Thompson then claimed that our defence improved solely because we signed Alderweireld, said Vertonghen was there for years and didn’t look great before. I think most fans who watch regularly realise that Vertonghen has looked at least Toby’s equal and has massively improved in last 2 seasons.

Don't let it stress you out, these are the words of a 56 year old man who wears a diamond earring for gods sake, and a man who looks like he has a flaccid horse penis strapped to his face.

Vertonghen has certainly improved greatly I personally can't believe the amount he has improved and that's down to Pochettinho imo .

I was one of those that thought he was a total liability at CB we'd get smacked 4,5,6 with him, he seemed a far better wingback, as in he's debut season.

Certainly now he has proved me wrong .
