Tony Gale on SSN..... is being really fucking nice about us! He is really praising us and saying he thinks Kane will stay and we’ll win trophies. We’ll beat Juve etc and why would Kane leave anyway when there are not many better teams around. Good to get recognition from someone who genuinely hated Spurs for a lot of his career.

They do all like to be right (don't we all?) and likewise we all like to back a winner. There comes a point when the most stubborn can't reject the evidence and maybe that's where Tony Gale has just got to. As in his footballing days though, it's taken him a whole lot longer to get there than most.

TV2, official PL broadcaster in Norway, had a piece today with their predictions for the top 4 race. All of the 6 pundits have us making the top 4, two of them believe we will overtake Liverpool.
One of them even states we are the second best team in the league, only topped by City.

It's in Norwegian, but their predictions for the remaining games and the final top 6 is easy enough to read ;)

PS: You'll recognize at least one of the pundits

Edit: Didn't realize there was some graphs on probabilities of different league positions, calculated by number crunchers at GIG Sports. They give us 19,3% chance at 2nd place, 31,9% at 3rd, 34,1% at 4th, and 14,2% at 5th.

I would say that's obvious, unless you belong to the UK Media Liverpool "best thing since sliced bread" F.C. fraternity

If it's obvious, why are we fourth? There's an argument that we're better than United, who are above us but are not on an upwards trajectory the way we are, but what justification do we have for saying we're better than Liverpool? They're above us in the table, in excellent form and have been doing just as well as us in Europe. There's certainly an argument to say we're as good or better than them, but 'obvious'?

Yep, they're irritatingly good at the minute, it pains me to say.

I'm not a particular fan of claiming we're the second best team in the league when I don't even think we've been second place in the table at any point this season.

I know it's taken us a while to adjust to Wembley and now we have we look better for it, but I dont think there is a clear cut 'second best team' in the league to be honest. If we were second or third and liverpool were fourth and liverpool fans were claiming to be the second best team in the league we would be laughing at them.

That's neither here nor there really, it's a handicap sure but you might as well say if Liverpool didn't sell Coutinho in Jan they'd be comfortably better than us.

It would be nice to finish above Liverpool but all I care is about our progression and no-one else's, considering we've been playing at Wembley and everyone expected us to drop out of the top four, this is a transition season for us and we've yet again exceeded expectations so far.

Really? Not sure I agree with that TBH. Liverpool's issue lately hasn't been their attacking prowess, it is down to the fact their defence is shite.

Without wishing to subscribe to the they love Liverpool and hate us debate, the Mirror on Saturday had a two page spread on Liverpool in the sport section and we weren't even mentioned in the entire paper not even just to say that we had a game that day. Probably just reflects their priorities.
I do think the pundits are gradually changing their stance on us though, it's becoming more and more obvious that we are a top side with every chance of getting top four and so not wanting to be out of step they are talking better about us, anything to avoid being wrong.

That's the point...I was giving an if/but example as extreme as Totoner's, I don't necessarily subscribe to that opinion.

They don't rate / like us because we don't spend fortunes on players and wages.

The fact we can compete with those that do doesn't compute
