I dont see it. Cities defence is shit. United aint much better. I dont see them beating us. Draw.
City's defence will be bad under Pep for sure, but United? Joint best defence with us last season, and with Jose coming in they're very likely to be up there as one of the best defences again.

It seems a lot of people underestimate that we will improve massively just due to the experience are young team had in the title race last season. Add to that we strengthened our two weakest areas of the squad and will probably add another attacking player and I see no reason we won't finish top 4.

We should improve for another year's experience.
Our young team should improve for a year's maturity.
We will have another year's stability and cohesion.
Our manager will have more experience.
We have improved our squad.

I find it hard to believe that we won't improve.

Our rivals don't have to overtake where we were last year, they will also have to improve above where we will be after further improvement.

It is this that I believe folk are not taking into account. It's like everyone of the new managers and new players our rivals have signed will work out and improve them to a point where they will be better than we were at the end of last season - is what some people are estimating. Whereas we will, IMHO, be better than we were at the end of last season and there is no guarantee that at least some of those managers/players our rivals have signed won't flop.

Who do you think we should have signed?

We've signed a backup for up front and defensive midfield, which we needed badly and we already have a pretty decent first 11.

Plus a winger that is almost definitely signed.

Throw into that the likes of Winks, Edwards, Harrison and Carter-Vickers who are looking to come through, why would we splash loads of money on mercenaries who will just block their path?

Homegrown players are proven to play better for the team as well.

I can't see anywhere we are weak (for once!) or any other players that we needed to buy?
We need a backup to Dembele and someone to push Eriksen, IMO.

I'm not having a go at 'Arry or wanting to open up and pro/anti Redknapp argument's. But, TBH, I think this is just the way he sees things - and not necessarily one I agree with (at least I hope it is him who is wrong). The best managers = those who have won the most; the best players = the most expensive; the best clubs = those with the highest wage bills. It is what he wanted as a manager - not the building of a squad over time employing youth extensively. Therefore United and Citeh will finish ahead of us.

Still, nice of him to go against that a bit by placing us in third

It is their's to lose and to be fair they've had enough practice losing it for the last 26 seasons so I reckon they'll lose it again this season!

Why do you continue to support....actually not support....follow Spurs?

Your have much more fun being negative following Liverpool and then trying to work out why they don't win the league each year after you've predicted they would!

Just a suggestion

Cause for optimism:

Stable squad and manager - for us that is huge considering we used to always lose our best players or the manager would be sacked or we would buy 7 players and have to intergrate a new team etc.

Young squad - been through a lot last season so learning a lot, being young they are nowhere near their potential, Payet for example is in his prime that's as good as it gets, Alli, Dier, Kane are probably 5-7 years away at least and should get better and better.

Last season - normally as a club we are
Mid to upper mid table, last season we had an outside shot at the title, the tough experience and pressure will blood many of our players and hopefully make them wiser.

Holes fixed - Janssen and Waynama as well as some new kids.

Overall hopefully of a decent campaign.

Incredible attacking players who weren't as incredible at attacking as our (apparently) not incredible attacking players

Severe case of Kloppis Envy, methinks

Klopp and Simeone are the only 2 managers that i would swap Poch for, no one else

Call me crayzee...but I literally wouldn't swap Poch for anyone.

How I feel on the Klopp/Poch debate can be found here: What our opponents' fans are saying

Liverpool have won a game against a European side (i.e. not a BPL side and so in no way invalidating my arguments in the post above, and those that followed) who may well reverse the result in a genuinely competitive game after they had undergone pre-season and gained their competitive edge. It may indicate nothing at all, it may indicate that Liverpool will be very good this season - but most of us have said that anyway. And most of us have acknowledged that lack of European commitments could work in their favour...is all.

Calm down :)

I know I'm going off topic here but can anyone tell me what pundits are saying about us lol.

Harry thinks Citeh and United will finish 1 and 2, and we will finish third.

I have given my answer to that, above.

Unfortunately, ATM, some folk just want to talk about their seasonal terror of Liverpool, no matter the thread :)
