The media need to sell papers and generate clicks, if they aren't speculating they're not doing their jobs properly.

Exactly. I really don't know how people don't get that it's a great big game and I even less know why people get annoyed about it, it hardly like because they say it, it's true is it?:D

Let's say what you both said is completely true. Was there links to Liverpool players leaving before their game last night ? Was there pundits saying their players should be leaving ?looking at the screen above, show me where other clubs have stories about 3 players linked to leaving ?

I get its all shit most of the time, and I actually laugh at some of it, but if its just a sell papers story, then the shit should be spread around a lot more. I dont see that.

I was thinking of the comparison between that goal and the Liverpool pen decision.
Juves goal.
Definite offside.
Goal stood.
No media attention at all.
Poch doesn't mention it.
Players don't mention it.
Level of importance in match- massive.
Liverpool pen.

Media shit storm batters the UK for 5 days and 5 nights.

Storm Klopp finally disipates somewhere over the Atlantic.

There was a penalty claim when he was pushed and the co-con said it was a pen. The red gave a goal kick and ignored it. Therefore it was deemed a Dive by haters.

Yeah I saw that, how the fuck can anyone deem that a dive? I thought I'd missed something. Defo a penalty, don't hear Spurs screaming and whining afterwards!!

Yeah I saw that. I saw that after the break they had some sort of headline along the lines of 'Is Kane's future at Spurs' or something and I was thinking fucking hell what reason do they have to bring that up again now and lord behold it was fucking Dennis Wise again the scrawny little twat. Plus, I guarantee the little bastard will just have another reason as to why Kane should be leaving even if we make the top 4.

It's never any sort of positivity over his situation whatsoever. You'll rarely see someone saying Kane is enjoying his football at the moment and is a great fit at Spurs, is currently playing the CL, is playing with a great manager and team mates etc. They would much rather focus on things that haven't occurred or mostly things that involve Kane leaving the club.

I'm not even saying that I disagree in that as a club we should be winning things but it's so so tiring hearing 'Spurs need to win a trophy/Kane needs trophies' repeatedly all season long.
Our past history as a selling club has become a mindset for most of media and pundits alike. It will be difficult to break this mindset irrespective of success, as these half witted twats will always default to believing we are and always will be a selling club.

The problem with football is that it is completely tribal so using ex=players as pundits guarantees no impartial views. For all their faults I prefer to listen to football journalists. But in truth don't listen much to any of them
That's why I listen to the podcasts with actual journalists who know what they're talking about and avoid Talksport and Sky Sports like the plague.

So are Real Madrid still shit, now they’ve beaten PSG Or were they only shit when they played us and had 18first teamers out injured?

We sold Walker to City. - we are a selling club

Liverpool - Coutunho
Chelsea - Matic.
Arsenal - Ox, Walnut, Sanchez

For someone who worked in Fleet street for 25 years I can assure you 'football journalists' are some of the most bias people I've ever known. I knew an editor to have a passionate dislike for a club and insist that his writers constantly write wherever possible negative things about the club he hated. Most journalists aren't experts in anything except being creative with their own expenses, and even that's gone downhill over the years.

Listening this morning in the US to the Football Show and Grumpy Pundits on SXMFC, all they could talk about was how Eriksen is the one that should be going to RM. One week it is Kane leaving, the Alli, then Eriksen. Tommy Smyth thinks the PL kick ball and all technically skilled players should go to Spain ..... What a bunch of C*@p!
It seems to change on a weekly basis of which player should leave. Basically shows how well so many players are playing and catching the eye of other teams. Our team is just that as well, a team and a proper team of players who have all improved over time and each other, we don't have to rely on just one player.

I agree on the whole, but I think some of them really do try their best to be impartial. For example I hated Alan Smith when he first started commenting on matches, but he’s settled into the role a bit better now, there seems to be less desire in his voice for us to lose these days haha.

Charrager is another that has surprised me with his objectivity. And of course Gary Neville is usually pretty good as is Jenas.

We might add that the Harry Kane penalty that he missed should have been retaken. The keeper was well, well off his line, and two Liverpool players were encroaching, one of whom got to the ball before !amela, who had been outside the box, and cleared it.

I didn't manage 25 years but every word you say about these appalling hacks is true. P Morgan even admitted it once... saying if he had only space left on the Mirror sports pages for one more football story and had to choose between a pro-Arsenal one or an anti-Spurs one... then he'd always go with the latter. He wasn't alone in his hatred of all things THFC, given most hacks in London are Gooners or Spammers.

In my opinion it was neither. It was a coming together, but no more than that. It wasn't a foul, Kane was slightly off balance, and if you watch in slo-mo he was starting to go down before any contact was made.

I typed in Juventus vs Tottenham and watched a couple of channels' analysis.

One had Harry Redknapp on it (not sure which... Had a 3 in it). Never seen him so complimentary. Was saying players should stay, we're a massive club. Why would anyone wanna go elsewhere? Was also very adamant Kane will stay.

He was really behind us. Was refreshing. Everyone else I've seen says Kane will & should leave if/when Madrid come calling

It was TV3, an Irish terrestrial channel. That's what I watched the game on.

EDIT: I see I was beaten to it!

I'm not really fussed about the offside argument.
We've had our own fair share of favourable close decisions already this season.
Not only that but 1) he didn't actually gain any advantage from the offside and 2) sometimes you have to give credit where it's due, what a great finish to strike it from that angle :wideyed:

I watched the match on TV3 but didn't get to see too much of the after match stuff as :

1. I was on the ceiling
2. The Mrs wanted the telly back to watch her crap.

Right about Redknapp though.

Redknap was very positive and was saying how he doesn't see why players would want to leave with the new stadium, they way Spurs are playing etc etc. Very encouraging!
