I think Bellamy is the only pundit I have heard call it out as it is, that both our previous two seasons we have ran two teams close who were not in the champions league and it was entirely possible we could have won two titles. No one else will say it. He's gone up a few notches in my book.

I know there are a multitude of factors that make pundits and the media say it as they do, so I'm not entirely sure there's a conspiracy against us.

On the other hand, we finished third (should have been second) and then second in the league and it was all just because of failings within the richer clubs. We were drawn in the so-called group of death and we qualified with two games to spare - and the narrative is that it is just Dortmund and Real being poor. At the same time if anything negative happens it fits a narrative, usually involving words like Spursy and bottle-jobs, where we are responsible for our own downfall.

It isn't every pundit and every journo in every media story - but when this is just the general, acceptable narrative, it is easy to see how an average Spurs fan could see it as something hostile to the club.

Good for Bellars for looking beyond the dominant narrative.

Oh my days, Bellamy has seriously impressed me there.

For once a pundit calling it exactly how it is. Furthermore he sounds totally exasperated by the lack of respect we seem to get.

Many of us on here have been accused of being panaroid about a bit of an agenda against us in the media, and then you listen to Bellamy, a more neutral pundit calling as it is and you really do realise the paranoia accusations are actually bollox.

Bellamy has gone way up in my estimation. Would love to.hear him putting a few other pundits in there place.

To be fair Ian Wright has called it how it is recently as well.

We're already winning, and our progress has been phenomenal. They recognise we're doing it from a disadvantaged position as well, compared to our direct competition, and are rightly acknowledging it.

Winning the Carebira Cup, or whatever you call it, wouldn't send reverberations around the footballing world lol.

What we did to Madrid the other night certainly did, that is winning, no matter what that wee fat prick Shreeves says.

Bellamy put him in his place, that's for sure.

Ultimately we will win trophies under Poch but you get the distinct impression some of these pundits want this manager and team broken apart before it happens.

I'm loving watching some of them squirm, even watching Shreeves's body language when Bellamy was making the point about Ramos winning a cup, and where he is now etc

Tottenham are on brink of something special - if they keep Mauricio Pochettino
JAMIE CARRAGHER
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football...k-something-special-keep-mauricio-pochettino/

Highlights for me:

"English football has never had a side play so consistently well without anything to show for it"

"I said on Wednesday it was a privilege to be at Wembley to witness Spurs’ performance. As a neutral I am sure I speak for a lot of people in this country when I say it will be a shame if this manager and this team does not win a major trophy in the next two or three years. "

"The greatest managers not only collect silverware, but leave a lasting legacy. Pochettino can achieve both at Tottenham. If he succeeds, Bielsa’s student will eclipse his master."

That's for posting that. The whole article is worth a read.

I think it's about networking and opinions. A pundit must have opinions. Now, it doesn't matter whether it is a correct opinion, as long as it's headline-worthy.

For instance: "Tottenham will probably not be relegated" - correct, but bad pundit
"Tottenham can face relegation if and when Kane moves to Real Madrid" - really good pundit, but somewhat incorrect.

Surely both would be seen as absolute drivel?!

And make the person saying it look like an absolute moron.....

Jeff Stelling talking about us.

"If you're going to Old Trafford and happy to settle for a draw then you're happy to settle for not winning the title."

I mean what the fuck? An utter tosspot.

Agree with Bellamy and Ballague 100%

Of course winning matters but it's not the only barometer of success. Secondly, we should be enjoying these moments not stressing about winning stuff.

just the little snippets from ballague makes you love poch that little bit more doesnt it, especially the bit about not looking happy when going on the training pitch.

To be honest the other pundits all started to praise us and talk about the performance and he just kept interrupting and asking 'but now there's gonna be demand for their manager is there not?, it's not just the manager, it's the players though isn't it? Spurs are not so spursy or flakey right now but weren't they just that at OT? If you have title aspirations you need to go to OT and look to win don't you?

Negative fuck I knew it was gonna be like that.

They weren't saying the same things about United weeks before were they?

Secondly, there was only one team playing for a draw but hoping to nick a goal and that wasn't us.

Thirdly, I've had this argument before with other fans, drawing away from home is an excellent result against your rivals because you prevent them from picking up more home points and if you beat them in your own yard - which we did last season - gives you the advantage over them.

Fergie used to do this ALL the time. So Stelling, still stand by this statement?

It's an old boys club, many of them do not want change and have their own biased views on things, Spurs to many of them are still "flakey spurs" it's refreshing to hear Craig say this stuff though.

The truth is I do think we deserve more credit, I remember watching the Leicester season thinking to myself how bad it was that all these pundits were creaming their crackers over Leicester because they were the "underdog" but then I look at us and think, why aren't we being praised in the same way? Majority English core, young team, not oil money rich, against all odds we are turning out to be one of the best teams around and yet we are met with almost disgust from the English press because we AREN'T a Man City and we AREN'T paying our player's ludicrous wages etc.

It's not paranoia to think that certain members of the press want us gone or want to talk badly of us whenever they get the chance but on the flipside, we aren't the only club they do it to either.

I think in general punditry is fucking awful, it's not a conspiracy, it's just that some pundits are biased idiots and others know that outrage gets people talking, I doubt any of us would give a shit if they were praising us.

Let them talk, our actions will speak louder than their words.

The fact that we're not getting much in the way of credit doesn't wind me up anywhere near as much as the amount of praise Guardiola seems to be getting, he's spent over £300m for fucks sake.

Geoff Shreeves was a grade A ****, Bellamy is making great points and he's just blindly repeating the same question over and over and ignoring everything being said to him.
Geoff shreeves is the biggest t**t in the history of football pundits.Pretty much watch the debate every night, really reminds me of David brent. As for Bellamy he absolutely adores us,every week won’t have a bad word said.Honestly think he’s after a job or something.

I agree, that's getting on my fucking tits, the guy is overrated, I said in a thread the other day, if he hadn't been at clubs who could spend millions every window and already been blessed with teams full of talent he would be an average manager at best, he's arrogant and overhyped, I always ask myself could he have done the job Poch has done here?

The answer is always, no, not a chance.

He's one of a few managers that have somehow achieved that status where they will only work for uber clubs, at least with Mourinho he's achieved at a much lesser financed club in Porto, but with Guardiola i doubt we'll ever find out whether he is capable of achieving anything without the GDP of a small country in his summer kitty, I can't see him signing up for the Gillingham 'project' anytime soon...that's something else that pisses me off with City, the media keep calling it a 'project', how is unlimited, ridiculous spending a fucking project?

They’ve spent something like 700m over the last 5 seasons which doesn’t even take into account the wages they pay which absolutely blow us out of the water, for that outlay they actually should be trying to work out why they haven’t won more trophies.[/QUOTE]

I completely agree, it's ridiculous, not sure why he is getting the sort of praise he is getting, I keep hearing pundits saying "Man City are lovely to watch, they look fantastic, best team in the league at this current moment and Pep has them playing some lovely stuff."

Pep has them playing some lovely stuff? Or £300M has them playing some lovely stuff?
