So Frank Arnesen is doing his thing on Danish TV ahead of the match today. Great bits include

- Tottenham can't match Eriksens ambition and he will be off in the summer unless we pay him large money.
- Lloris 8th best GK, behind Schmeichel at 7th
- generally stupid stuff, but not about Spurs

I completely agree, it's ridiculous, not sure why he is getting the sort of praise he is getting, I keep hearing pundits saying "Man City are lovely to watch, they look fantastic, best team in the league at this current moment and Pep has them playing some lovely stuff."

Pep has them playing some lovely stuff? Or £300M has them playing some lovely stuff?

It's both isn't it. The ball dominating quick passing game they play clearly is part of Pep's philosophy. The one touch football we see city pull off in matches is clearly the result of training ground work.

But... they wouldn't be able to do it without the sort of technical player they have which is bought for a fortune, and the quick movement up front which is also bought. Plus the fullbacks that have pace and strength also bought.

Yes bit what does that matter so what if they have spent 300m plus surely with all those egos on show that makes his management style even better, that he can control and get those superstars playing how he wants.
They are champions elect and possibly CL finalists they way they are shaping up who are we to try and pick holes in their buying prowess.

Finally had a chance to see this Bellamy video and he fcuking nailed it. Graham and Ramos won trophies. I wouldn't call them successful. Poch has taken over the club. This ain't the Harry Kane team, it's Pochettinos Club.

Yes a trophy would be great, but for me that's 2 years into the new stadium when we can pay salaries to keep our stars and invest in the players we need to take us up another level.

15 year contract for Poch and a £100m release clause. This is the most passionate team I have seen. I can't wait for one of the stands to be renamed The Poch Stand.

I'll pick holes in it, because with the amount of money that has been fucked at the squad, any decent manager should have them winning the league.

Utd have spent hundreds of millions the last few years and still have a very very average and unbalanced squad so a bit harsh - there is a skill in player recruitment even if paying inflated fees

And he’s making players ge has inherited or signed player better like Sterling and Stones so some training ground skill there too

But they're not the only team spending money. He is competing with other billionaire clubs who are also spending big.

His predecessors struggled to create the type of football they are playing now so it clearly isn't quite as easy asmany make out it is.

I have more respect for a manager whose achievements are more connected to their coaching and management style than the quality of players they have. But lets not pretend there is no management skill to dealing with such high level egos, expectations and the pressure of being expected to win everything.

And they will so he will achieve what his club owners want would you not agree.
I think the point he's making is it's not that much of an achievement if you're spending massive amounts of cash cherry picking the best players from around the world building a team that should be capable of winning the league, and then you do so.
It's expected.
These massive clubs that spend more than 90% of the clubs around them ALL have continually success regardless of who is in charge. That in itself tells you it has less to do with the coaches abilities and more to do with spending wisely.
Of course you can spend a shed load of money badly but thats only short term. The following season or the season after that spending big WILL bring success.
It's inevitable regardless of which fk tard is coaching them.

Of course as we see in all the major leagues around Europe the same big clubs win their leagues nearly every year, and in turn generate more and more income that leaves them in front of their rivals.
But we have also seen that not all coaches can run those clubs which in turn can create problems on a bigger scale such as egos, demanding owners and sponsors.
Most of the time the best manager's get the top club's which is natural of course but in peps case he is getting city to look at bit like his old Barca side from a few years ago.

City are champions elect...but we are chief party-poopers in waiting...and the other very pretty bloody good team of the two stand-out teams in the division. It is a pity The Cult of Pep is stopping our own fans from recognising this.

Besides this is the What the pundits are saying about US thread. Could the cult of Pep people please fuck off out of every single thread in Spurs Community, over to General Football and make a, I dunno, Fapping over The Cult of Pep Fan-Boy, Fap Fap Fap, He's Not a Passive/Agressive Sneaky Tapping Our Players Up Publicly and Trying to Belittle Us ****...Fap Fap Fap Oh Pep with Your Sporty Casual Outfits Fap Fap Fap thread. @shelfboy68 - Hi, Shelfie, I'm guessing the
wtf.png
WTF!? rating is because the deliberately jokey faux confrontational format of my post has bamboozled you, somewhat. I will try again without this:
There are two standout teams in the Prem ATM, IMHO. City are one and have a clear advantage thanks to a better start and perhaps a little fortune. We are the other one, but our start has been a bit slower for a number of factors, not least of which is a bit less than average fortune. I really do think we are that good. City have a great attack, but ours is non too shabby We have a better defence and better balance. If they are champions elect, we are most likely to take advantage of any slip-ups. I really do believe we are that good. Unfortunately, a lot of our fans seem to be so focused on their admiration for Guardiola that they do not seem to see just how good we are. This thread is about what the pundits are saying about THFC (hence the title), but, like many other threads in Spurs Chat it has been taken over by discussions about how good Guardiola is. Perchance, it would be more appropriate to take yourselves over to General Chat and make a thread there for expressing your admiration of Guardiola and discussing his merits.

Or perhaps: This is a Cult of Poch forum for Cult of Poch people. There's no place for your Cult of Pep kind around here (y)

Sorry, Goode Pard'ner, but it should be your grammar and not you're grammar (the contraction of you are grammar). And the comma after shite should have a space before any more text.

As an attempt at playing Grammar Police I'm afraid it's a bit of a fail, TBH :finger:

It may just be me but i've always thought of Frank as a bit of a snake oil salesman. He's credited with finding some talent in Holland many years ago (the kind of talent it would take a blind man to miss) and he's done nothing since. Joined us and fucked off to Chelski when a better payday came along. Did nothing with them whatsoever. Went to Hamburg, again achieved very little and has slid down the ladder since.

The guy is dining out on the same shit he dug out when he moved to us - and now he somehow gets on tv peddling those kinds of opinions. Guy is a fraud IMHO.

I really hope that Pochettino and the players haven't thrown in the towel like some on here. Not a pop at you, but there's another 5 or 6 months of season left. If De Bruyne, for instance, gets a long term injury, I can't seem them being as effective.
Let's say they will win if, and only if, it actually happens.

Both Graham and Ramos won trophies with other clubs. So I would have to disagree about them not being successful. And neither had as many top class players available to work with as MoPo.

And if a trophy doesn't arrive until 2 years into the new stadium, we might be waiting a fair bit longer. Do you honestly think players of the calibre that we are currently enjoying watching will be patient / as good / even here if that is the case? I'm not convinced myself.
