Just over my parents for mothers day and watching goals on Sunday at the moment. Just had Jamie Redknapp talking about us and our game later today. Goes on again about how we need to start winning trophies. My mum pipes up...

"Why do they always have a go at Spurs? I don't watch much of these but every time I do they always seem to be having a go at Tottenham, why is that?"

Even my mum sees it.

I don't usually comment on this but Robbie Savage.....what a moron.

The guy has spent the past few days belittling Pochettino and Spurs because he feels Jose Mourinho gets unfairly hammered while Poch gets praised.

On Saturday it was:
"Man Utd have scored more goals"
"Man Utd have conceded fewer"
"Man Utd are seven points above"
"Man Utd are still in Europe"

We've since overtaken them in the goals tally and sit a whopping two goals behind in terms of conceded. On that note I'd like to point out only three other goalkeepers in the whole league have made more saves than De Gea. They like to tell us we're overly reliant on Kane, well where would they be without De Gea?

Not to mention we got Juventus. An elite team who we outplayed but whose nous got the better of us. They've been to two of the last three finals. We did not disgrace ourselves and actually showed courage to take them on. Beats parking the bus to the 5th placed team in Spain who prior to the first leg shipped five to Eibar and days after the first leg five to Atletico. I shall remind you Sevilla had 25 shots to Utd's 6. I'd love it if they go out tomorrow.

And finally the comparison between Man Utd who have spent over £300m under Mourinho in two years, and over £600m since 2013, to Tottenham who operate on a positive net spend is laughable. They should be finishing above us. Robbie Savage certainly said so when he tipped them to win the league in August and us to finish 6th.....

Having tipped Manchester United to win the Premier League last season, I’m not going to desert them now.

Although Guardiola has spent £200 million this summer, and Manchester City look formidable on paper, I just can’t rule out the Special One winning his fourth title in English football.

I’m afraid it’s bad news for north London: I’m tipping both Arsenal and Tottenham to miss out on the top four this time.

Manchester United
After Jose Mourinho salvaged two trophies and Champions League football from a season which threatened to yield much less, he has strengthened key areas down the spine of his team with the arrivals of Romelu Lukaku, Nemanja Matic and Victor Lindelof.

My tip for the title in 2016-17 went down the gurgler before Christmas, but this year we will get the duel many people were expecting – Pep v Jose for the No.1 spot – and I can’t wait.

Verdict: Toss-up with City for the title Champions

Tottenham
Mauricio Pochettino’s strongest XI is arguably the best team in the Premier League, but their best chance of winning the title may have gone with those near misses in the last two seasons.

Spurs struggled to settle at Wembley in the Champions League, and now they face playing there every week while the new ground is going up at White Hart Lane. It could even cost them a top-four spot.

Verdict: Spurs slipping 6th

the comparison for Man Utd should be City. Money spent, wages, manager profile, recent title wins etc.. comparing them with Spurs is a distraction. Vs Spurs they look a success - despite being only 4pts ahead and totally outclassed in the last meeting - but they should always be given the resources available. Vs City they are way behind. Mourinho gets hammered because despite spending 600m since 2013, they play (more often than not) a dull game and grind out results when they should be able to dominate teams like City (and Spurs, and even Liverpool) have.

But then, Savage is a professional loudmouth and it's no surprise he chooses not to see it.

Jamie Redknapp can do one.
The only thing he`a won is one league cup.
When he starts winning more stuff then he can criticise us.
Gary Neville, Roy Keane even Terry Henry, I`ll listen to.

In fairness, he's not going to be winning much more stuff these days. Would be right up there with the day Lazarus stepped outside and issued a cheery "morning folks" if he adds a CL winner or PL title anytime soon.

I think it's funny that they use Sherwood as the ex-Spurs pundit.
Why's it funny?
He used to play for us, he used to manage us, he worked at our academy for years, he subscribes to the the 'Spurs players will leave' bollocks as well.
He ticks every box for them really.
In general he is also quite complimentary towards us.

I wonder bother with anything he says. Most ppl I speak to recognise him for what he is "a clown" and no-one takes him seriously. Even his fellow pundits don't, which is why Chris Sutton always challenges him. He's only along for the ride because they think he's 'entertaining' which I disagree with. Don't think they employ him for his insight.

Robbie savage is only on as a sop to inclusivity.

He ticks several unusual boxes to keep the BBC executives happy.
