What to do with Danny Rose?

Hi guys,

Today there's a piece on the site looking at what to do with Rose. He was linked with a host of clubs in the summer but all of those have now moved on and signed other targets. Ben Davies impressed in Rose's absence and though Mauricio Pochettino has made sure the former Leeds United youngster feels as though he's part of the team again, he is in in a bit of a predicament.

It's a World Cup year, he's no longer first choice and club's aren't courting him. So what do Spurs do with Rose?

Hope you enjoy.

Cheers,

Sam

I think he is first choice. Davies, has proven himself as suitable cover, but hasn't proven himself as a nailed on first team ahead of Danny in my opinion. Rose offers a lot more the Davies does in both attack and defence.

he only needs to finish the season strong and clubs will be back after him.

Decent enough article.

Obviously we have discussed Rose to death so not sure what new there is to say.

He is an asset when fit and his head is in the right place. All things being perfect I'd like him to stay,

If he was to leave I believe the Manchester clubs are by far the most likely destinations. City have bought Mendy but they'll want two quality players in each position.

Rose will be 28 in July. If he performs well between now and the end of the season this summer will be the highest fee we can ever cash in on.

A lot of people haven't forgiven him for his comments last summer. So it actually is a brainer.
In footballing terms it is a no brainer. Poche has forgiven him, the club have forgiven him and a large percentage of the support have forgiven him as was shown when we sang his name. He has publicly acknowledged appreciating the support.

I agree but there are people who aren't forgiving, hence the debate continues.

He is first choice for me when fully fit too but I really do wonder where his state of mind is at the moment. Mourinho has praised Shaw quite a bit in the media recently and may now persist with him. City have their young LB playing at the moment and Mendy when he gets back so maybe a potential move that looked very much so on the cards previously may not be any more.

I'm more concerned with whether he sees a future with us or not. I'm not gonna lie I'd be delighted to see him finish the season fit and strong and be given a new deal in the summer to keep him here but it all depends on whether he even wants that.

personally I dont really care one way or the other. him getting back to his pre-injury form isnt a given. he was really good the last season and a half before his injury but somewhat hit or miss before that. Ive got nothing against him. but its sort of a "who knows?" thing - if he doesnt finish the season strong he wont be worth what he was before the injury anyway.

first of all I’m not sure he isn’t first choice when 100% Fit. Davies has had solid performances but is not the flying wingback Poch needs in his system. I think he’s plan a will be to try and keep him, no more than he will want to keep our other core team players! And if he doesn’t want to stay he will go like Walker, I only hope that we get it done very early in the summer and replace with like quality, which in my opinion will be hard. Like we have found with Walker.

We’re extremely fortunate to have both him and Davies covering for the same position. Probably the best depth in that position in the league.

So keep 100%

I don't want to jump the gun here because I know he is only just back from injury, but he looked to me like he has lost a yard of pace. Obviously he tried to get forward and take players on so hopefully it's something that will return with some minutes on the pitch. He won't be nearly as effective if the injuries have taken that burst of pace away from him though.

I can't believe so many people want him back in the first XI still. Davies has been brilliant and consistent this season, Rose has done nothing to show that he should get the nod of him yet, and has a long way to go to prove that in my opinion.
