Yeah I reckon he would thrive in our 3-4-2-1 system in same way it suits Eriksen and Alli better.

Before this system I was into 3-5-2 and thought Lamela would have been a good option just behind Kane in a strike partnership.

We would be able to rotate the three (Eriksen, Alli and Lamela), with whoever is on the bench being a very useful sub when things aren't going our way.

Obviously we'd also have Son as a good attacking option from the bench. I see him as being less good within that two, but could play closer to Kane.

Do you not understand that if the club is keeping something secret, it's going to be for a very good reason.

That's all well n good, and I do assume this to be true, but that doesn't change the fact that until the fans see/receive answers there will be widespread speculation. With the degree of obviously forced secrecy, so too will the amount of speculation increase with it.

Let's be honest, I suspect the reason you might step into "these threads" likely has to do with a slight curiosity to see if anyone is even remotely getting warm in their pondering ;)

Yes I do, but you should understand if there is something to be kept secret people are going to speculate about what it is until they have an answer.

I don't disagree. The club however have given an explanation as to why he is out even if people don't believe it. This article however might as well just be a page taken from one of the numerous where is Lamela threads. It is just a rehash of what everyone is already saying, with a clump of inaccurate pov thrown in for what only seems like controversy sake.

To be fair, it's substantially more restrained than the locked threads on the wilder speculation. Largely because commercial blogs try to avoid libel.

Ok it's watered down a bit, but again brings nothing new to the party.

This thread has zero surprises in it and I'm not talking about the article.

Football clubs hide many secrets - scandals, affairs, crimes, suicide attempts and more and I know that for a fact having been privy to many of them... but perhaps this time it is simply that Lamela is unfit, if not physically then mentally, and needs time to recover.

I hope he will come back.

"It is hard to imagine him putting in the defensive shift required to help out the back three."

I'll write an article about how hard it is to imagine Messi score a goal or Real Madrid spending 10m+ on a player or Lawro predicting Liverpool to win. So hard to imagine, basically Tolkien's level of imagination is needed.

Another bit of high quality factually accurate report today

http://www.teamtalk.com/news/italian-trio-seek-raid-on-spurs-for-60m-pair-report

Tottenham’s two most expensive signings could be heading out the door, with three Serie A sides linked with raids on their players.
Eric Lamela
and Moussa Sissoko have both struggled for various reasons this season and could be shipped out at a cut-price this summer.
Sissoko, who joined the club from Newcastle for £30million in the summer, has been
a massive disappointment, failing to reproduce the stunning performances he had for France during Euro 2016.

Italian giants Juventus and AC Milan are said to be interested in the midfielder, according to a report in theMirror, and could be set to offer him a move away from the Premier League this summer.
He could be joined in Serie A next season by his current team-mate Lamela, who is attracting interest from Inter Milan.
The attacking midfielder joined the club from Roma in a £30m deal back in 2013 but hasn’t lived up to expectations.
The Argentine has only started six Premier League games this season, unable to budge Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli, Son Heung-Min from the starting 11.

His last and possibly final appearance for Spurs came in October’s defeat to Liverpool, with the midfielder set to miss the remainder of the campaign thanks to a persistent hip injury.
Lamela has just two years remaining on his deal at White Hart Lane and Inter believe they could secure a £10m deal for the 25-year-old.

when they cant even spell his name correctly you know it's a winner. Shame Erik has only been reduced to 6 starts because he can't get into the starting 11 lol!

Journalism really isn't what it used to be, really annoying how people can't check basic facts and just publish filler.

Not their best article.

I have preferred us with a back three and Rose and Walker getting forward even more. Eriksen, Alli and Kane seem to thirve together in a front three.

So maybe Lamela doesn't have as much as a place anymore. Stories about him going to Rome to recuperate seem to suggest he isn't completely settled though we don't know the full story.

Nobody actually knows the situation and all this speculating is damn annoying. Until we hear something official let's just wait and see. The guy has had a tough time lately which will mentally affect any normal person.
