What's all this about Chimbonda?

Chimbonda should concentrate more on his defensive duties than his forward play. I personally don't like the idea of a winger in Lennon on the right and a wingback it leaves us defensively weak when both are in attack positions.

I think he is as good as any other right-back in the league. We were playing Wigan at home. Hence he was in the opposition half a lot. Did they score??

Rightbacks from the EPL I would choose before Chimbonda (in no particular order):

Sagna
Eboue (just as bad defensively, much better going forward)
Emerton
Ferreira
Belletti
Finnan
Arbeloa
Corluka
G.Neville
Young
Johnson
Stalteri

And that's just players who are first and foremost rightbacks. Players like Micah Richards, Olaf Melberg and Lucas Neill would still get in the team ahead of him if it were up to me...

*waits for someone to reply "good joing it ain't up to you then".

Sure he goes forward a lot, but so what? What does he actually do when he goes forward? He's uncomfortable on the ball, and looks for the easy option of passing back to Zokora or Jenas. He can't cross to save his life. I mean, we say Lennon can't cross... Chimbonda makes Lennon look like Becks. He doesn't link with his winger well at all... he's just so overrated, and this is my just focusing on the shortcomings in his attacking play. Imagine if I was to concentrate on his defensive work? :|
Thats BS!

In his first season alongside Lennon, they linked up beautifully on the ight, gae after game! Its only since Lennon has been shit that Chimbonda has been doing his work for him as well as his own. I've seen Chimbonda up at the byline countless amount of times.

Don't be fooled, Chimbonda is a great, great fullback with bags of energy and tbh, it would be a huge loss to our team if he went.

It's not bullshit dynamo mate. What Christophe has posted is probably the most sensible and accurate description of that which is Chimbonda. Although I do prefer him at CB where I think he plays about 327 times better than he does at RB.

As for being "up at the byline", you're right he does get to the byline, where he usually wastes the ball and allows the opposition to counter-attack while he saunters back to around the half-way line to get a better view of their attack.

As for being a huge loss to our team, I couldn't agree more, he would be a huge loss because we would immediately become stronger defensively!

Chimbonda and Lennon never linked up as well as Stalteri and Lennon. We all (well a lot us) slated Stalteri, and I was one of them. But it was only when he was taken from the team that I could really appreciate the good he did for our team. I know you could say I might only appreciate Chimbonda when he's gone, but I can assure you I won't. Salty is a basic player, but a solid player. I wanted a bit more. We got Chimbonda, Salty was moved aside, and it really became apparent to me that although Stalteri has his shortcomings, he's much better for Spurs than Chimbonda is. He times his runs better, he links with Lennon better, he's better at crossing, and I can bet you he's on a hell of a lot less wages than Pascal.

I agree.... that he has bags on energy. The rest is rubbish

I disagree and felt that when Lennon was on top of his game (namely the season Chimbonda arrived from Wigan), that right flank was bloody amazing. It was a pleasure to watch that right wing with both Lennon and CHimby passing players at ease.

It is fair to say that Chimbonda has lost the edge which he had at Wigan and had for Spurs at the beginning, but, he's been playing behind either a lacklustre Lennon or a Lennon replacement in recent weeks.

Stalteri made a lot of defensive errors, so why do you overlook those?

There are two Q's here. 1. Is Stalteri, in your opinion honestly better than Cimbonda? 2. Does stalteri link up with Lennon better than Chimbonda?

I think 2. is hard to judge because of Lennon's recent performance levels. (when he's been fit and playing).
